This was my first time getting this treatment done and my hair is so silky and lightweight that every time I run my hands through my hair I want to cry out of happiness. Melanie is also very knowledgeable about the type of products that you need to avoid if you want your Brazilian blowout to last, and I had talked with a lot of different hair stylists who told me that I could use any shampoo and conditioner as long as they are sulfate free. I hope I can maintain the healthy hair look for a couple of months! I will definitely be returning for another round in a couple of months.

Perhaps there could be a way to check in and view wait time through the app to provide more transparency. I bet other business owners at Pike and Rose would love to monetize that 15m wait time and you could earn through ad revenue :) I'm leaving this review for the owner of this location. You have an incredibly talented team who are clearly overworked and underpaid. I don't know what flexibility you have in the franchise model, but you probably have more pricing power than you think. I would happily pay more for my bar fly membership. I am not ok paying a $30 surcharge on top of a $69 blowout when my appointment takes an hour instead of 45m (it has for the years I've used DryBar), there is clear friction between mgmt and staff, and mgmt and customers. I realize it's incredibly tough to run a low margin service business, and empathize as a former retail store manager. But I sincerely hope you'll level up the experience for all stakeholders...FWIW I realize there are similar challenges everywhere but the Georgetown location has figured this out. Just my 2c. My membership got me 1 blow out per month and most of the people who work there were nice and did good work. Once in a while, I got a stylist that took longer than normal - I figured they were new and it wasn't a big deal for me to wait a little longer for them to finish. I was in and out in under an hour. Then came the fees. At first, they informed me any blowout over an hour was an extra $30. I wasn't worried about it at first because my blowouts were always under an hour, but I started to realize my blowouts were less enjoyable. I started watching the clock and being anxious when a stylist was a little slower. About 6 months later, I was informed the policy changed again and anything over 45 minutes was an extra $30. I cancelled my barfly membership on the spot - what was the point of a membership when they tack on fees? It would be $90 plus tip for a blowout. My regular hair stylist charges me $85 for a cut and blow out and she finishes all of that in under an hour. Also, all of these policy changes were always communicated verbally, and sometimes when you were already getting shampooed. I left voicemails (no one picks up the phone when I call) to discuss my concerns but none were ever returned. I feel bad for the stylists (especially new ones). They are dealing with clients that are likely upset with these ever changing policies and fees. All in all, I realized I wasn't getting a great experience from this business anymore and it was time to call it quits.

I've been to the Symmetry Salon in Bethesda once before so I knew stylists had their own private space. I honestly prefer it over a loud, hectic salon. Your stylist can truly give you their undivided attention. This location also sells Balmain products. Super chic. You can help yourself to coffee, water and snacks while you wait. There is an ATM located inside as well just in case you forget cash to tip! All payments are made through your stylist not the front desk. I believe the receptionist is there to mostly direct clients and to book appointments. Kirstie was fantastic! I truly mean that. The woman who saw me (younger of the two) asked what I wanted, I responded and she started to work on my brows. From the second she put the thread on my skin it was painful and I felt like my eyebrows were being ripped off and bleeding. Later I saw that I did have a scar and bruise above my eyes. It felt like she was bitter and purposely putting all her anger into ripping my eyebrow hair out. That's how bad the pain was. Disclaimer here, I am from a similar area of the world where I also get my eyebrows threaded and NO, I am not some sissy person who is new to threading. My mother was a professional threader and I've had my eyebrows touched by BOTH novices and experts and I NEVER had any pain like this. I am very thick skinned and my pain tolerance is high but this threading stop in the salon run by these two Indian women....go somewhere else. I don't want to shit on the other salons in here and I will probably go here to try another salon but the threading...NO. Just full stop. She was rude too. I have been going to Nima ever since. He takes your request and makes it 100 times better than what you were looking for. Perfection to the last centimeter of your hair. The cut and the coloring gets compliments wherever I go. I attend school in WV and I get compliments and ladies asking where I go to get my hair cut and colored. Weeks later i called the store to set up an appointment for waxing and massage only to be let down with the bad news. I was informed by the woman on the phone that massage isn't offered at this location. Okay, why the hell is it shown on your door that it is offered? I asked about the waxing and was informed waxing is done for women and women only. Wow, what a buzz kill. Guess there is nothing left that I would need at this location.

She even rescheduled my initial appointment when I needed to cancel (with notice). I showed up to my appointment 10 minutes early which gave us more time for the consultation. Once the appointment started, she told me she hasn't taken new clients in over a year because the wait for her existing clients became too long. I asked, "so how did I get here?" She said she didn't know and that maybe I just emailed her at the right time. When I left my appointment with frizzy hair (I guess she doesn't flat iron hair or normally work with curly hair) she told me I could reschedule a new appointment next season or next year, it's up to me... I'm sure she is far more friendly and helpful with her existing clientele. I'm also sure I won't be returning but that is probably alright with Amy.
