I called up the salon and asked for a consultation with a stylist expert in blondes and extensions. TLDR: I've never left a negative review for a salon before nor ever on Yelp, but I feel it's important to share my experience. The extension install unfortunately caused significant scalp damage including tension sores, irritation, and extreme hair breakage. I brought up the pain early on along with concern of damage and wasn't taken seriously. Eventually, I had to get the extensions removed from the stylist, Ciara. The partial refund to offset the cost of corrective treatment never arrived. ---‐-- As I felt it was strange to be told it would be painful/sore for up to 2 weeks and to take OTC pain reliever, I asked 2 different stylists to look at my install. (I'm totally new to this and intially wanted to give Ciara the benefit of the doubt.) I was told the following: "Those are tension sores from over direction of the hair in the beadwork... the beads are pulling too tight, and not enough hair in the beads. The beads are also too close to the scalp and too many wefts for per row of hair. Seek corrective treatment ASAP before alopecia sets in and ask the Bloom stylist to remove them. The hair was over processed from the base lift and bleach that caused significant breakage. The hair was compromised after the color treatment, and the poor extension install caused more intense breakage. The salon should have seen this after the first move up that the extensions needed to be taken out." I also felt uncomfortable during my appointment as the stylists were openly gossiping about other clients in front of me. When I respectfully asked for a partial refund to offset the cost of damage for repair, I was met with defensiveness instead of concern. The management team said the stylist is a renter and we'd have to settle together, even though I was ushered to this stylist by their salon in the first place. I spent about $1500 during March-April (2 bags of hair, installs, 2 color appointments) and was offered (but never sent) $125 refund. The services promised did not render the anticipated result and as such, I had to get a very short hair cut, pay for corrective treatments, and am still healing from the tension sores. Everyone deserves to feel safe, heard, and respected at a salon. I hope my experience helps others make informed decisions and if you love your hair, please consider elsewhere. I'm new to SLC and didn't have a hair stylist.) First of all, I have a dirty blond/brassy natural hair color... i.e. EASY to pull blonde because it's already very light overall. I have NEVER had an issue and I've dyed my hair as blonde as Paris Hilton before and have dyed my hair for 15+ years with many sytlists. I waited to go to a different stylist to confirm if it was my hair or Kassi before I posted anything. Turns out, it was Kassi and I know exactly what she's doing wrong. And a $500 lesson (yea, ouch). I went to Kassi twice. The first time she was working on someone else first and she pulled a VERY orange blonde. This made me nervous but I reasoned with myself 'well that lady had very dark hair'. So I went through with the appointment (mistake 1) and she wasn't able to pull my hair blonde (more like a semi-brassy color that you could barely see). I went back a second time just figuring that she needed to get to know me and my hair (my second costly mistake). My hair literally looked worse than when I arrived. I was so shocked and unhappy that I said my hair looks bad- there is no blonde and you're making it more cooper. She was even perplexed and AGREED and could not figure out why my hair didn't pull blonde (yet still charged me the entire cost of the appointment)... "yea, this isn't the color I was expecting either. Maybe it's because of your Brazilian Blowout, I had the same issue with another lady. We could try again at another appointment". So you want me to pay you another $250 to "try"? What? Also, I've been getting Brazilian Blowouts for over a decade and never encountered this issue (and haven't gotten one in over a year which is long for me) so I thought geez, maybe she's right because my hair is soo easy to pull blonde and it's not working. So I made an appointment with a different stylist after asking around (wish I did this initially). This new stylist literally had NO PROBLEM pulling my hair a super light pretty blonde. It was so easy she actually toned it darker so it'd mix well with the rest of my hair that she was dyeing (to correct Kassi's work). I was telling her the issues I was having with Kassi and she was able to point out (before she even touched my hair) what Kassi was doing wrong: 1. She uses Saran Wrap instead of foil. Foil keeps your hair moist and warm, thus allowing it to process. 2. Kassi's dye is thick and almost clay-like. It quickly dries on your hair under the Saran Wrap and your hair becomes this very dry stiff thing and the dye is literally flaking off. The new stylist explained to me that when the air hits the dye and it dries that like, it's no longer processing your hair. So Kassi was literally not processing my hair- what I paid her $500 to do. So I sent her a text (you're welcome) giving her the information for WHY my hair wasn't pulling blonde (this is really basic technique and it's concerning she doesn't know it, especially considering my new stylist pin pointed this before she even touched my hair). I also told her I waited until I went to a new stylist before I said anything to be sure it wasn't my hair and it was actually her technique. She might want to tell her other client whom she also blamed the Brazilian Blowout on that it's not that at all. I asked her if she would consider refunding part of the service since she wasn't actually processing my hair (and now I'm paying someone else to cover what she did). She never responded. Classy. So anyways, it was a $500 lesson, but hopefully Kassi honestly listens to my text and goes back to same basic 101 dye classes. I'm still shocked at the struggle. LOL. I've included a picture of my hair after the SECOND visit to Kassi so you can see how truly horrible of a job she did (remember, I was going for BLONDE). It's honestly shocking. The only good thing to come out of this is I found a REALLY good stylist that is LESS expensive than Kassi.
