Wanted to love this place bc of all the good reviews, but cannot due to the outcome. The hair stylists were very good and kind, no doubt about it, but I did not get the hair color that I was expecting. I had messaged the salon before coming showing them a picture of the hair color I wanted and that I had dark brown hair, and they told me to go ahead and schedule online. I asked if 5:30 would be fine, and they said yes. I showed up earlier due to their request to come at 4, but when they asked what color hair I wanted (ash brown), I was told no because it would require bleaching and at least 4 hrs to do. At that point, I had already paid $90 online as required to book the appt so of course I could not back out even tho I wanted to. The hair color I got was pretty but definitely not as light as I wanted and is barely noticeable unless I'm in direct sunlight or in a very lighted room which is such a shame for the amount of money I paid. I had also come out of town so scheduling was tricky already with our plans. Super sad about the experience. I would probably recommend the place as they seem good, but make double sure that you'll be getting what you want before you go if you schedule online. read more

I found Stylette through Yelp. After enough overpriced and mediocre cuts in San Diego, and a successful fast cut a few months ago at the Hawaiian Gardens location, I decided I would get my perm done at the location in Buena Park. I booked online on Tuesday for my appointment today at 10 am with Kyu on Thursday. You have to put a down payment down. I showed up a little before 10 and someone opened the door for me at 10 am. My stylist wasn't there yet but after around a ten minute wait, a woman named Daniela washed and dried my hair. Kyu arrived around 10:30 and saw my pictures for the style I wanted and went straight to work. He immediately put me at ease and you could tell he knew what he was doing. I felt I was in capable hands. Thus commenced the five hour process of Daniela and Kyu turning my wild mane and washing, drying, straightening, curling, volumizing the roots and giving the magic perm with c-curl perm of my dreams. I really appreciated the attention to detail. They brought me snacks and hot water and tea. The end result was a dream. I feel like I walked out of a k-drama with the heroine's hair. Kyu told me they're also starting to offer scalp treatment that's been going viral in Korea so I'll definitely go back for that. Thank you Kyu and Daniela for working tirelessly for 5.5 hours on my hair and making it the hair of my dreams. I'll be posting an update in a few weeks to see if the hairstyle/perm holds up. I would definitely recommend this salon. I felt at ease and Kyu explained what he was doing from beginning to end. He explained the process of the perm and how to dry my hair. I went to STYLETTE studio (last week) after looking thru other Yelp reviews, so here's mine^^ Experience: This was my first time going to get my hair cut by myself paying with my own adult money so I was really excited and a little nervous. I got a color & cut. I had my hair colored black with a little bit of blue mixed in, got a wash, then blowdry, cut, and even styling. The shampoo or products they use for the wash smells like acai berries & the nice berry scent lingered in my hair for almost 5 days. I wanted a complete change with my hair, so I asked for a Hime Cut. Because I can't commit to a full bob:( Below are some Before and After photos because my hair before was pretty long. My stylist Kyu, was very welcoming and after the dye and wash, I was able to speak very comfortably while he cut my hair. He made my experience at STYLETTE so enjoyable! I was contemplating getting the bangs or not because my forehead ratio is small and I wasn't so sure. Kyu was very helpful with consulting and suggested that the bangs could work & I'm so glad I got them bc the finished cut is soSO good!! I definitely recommend Kyu to anyone reading this review. I REALLY LOVE MY HAIR^^ Hime cut's super cute and easy to style at home. I got so many compliments throughout the week:)) Pricing: I'm a very heavy cash user these days, so I stopped by the store to see if I can book an appointment and make a desposit in person (not online). Kyu helped me book a time for the next day and I made a $50 cash deposit. For the entire payment (with $20 tip) I think it was around either $230-$240?? (I can't remember the exact pricing.) Maybe I was given a discount(?) but overall I was really grateful for Kyu because his service was so well worth (maybe more worth) the amount I paid. I wish I could have tipped him more but I'm a broke college student with a budget:( My appt time was 11AM but I think I left the salon somewhere between 1:30-2PM. With all the time and Kyu's immense care, I am completely satisfied with my hair and experience at STYLETTE Studio. I have been going to STYLETTE before Director YOP opened this location in Buena Park. Just like the Hawaiian Gardens location, making an appointment with Director Yop; you have to hop on it fast as if you were trying to get concert tickets! This man is super talented and busy. I decided to make an appointment to get a hair cut last minute before Christmas; unfortunately I wasn't able to book with Director Yop & so I booked with Co-director Kyu instead. When I arrived to the salon, it was busy per usual. I waited in the area and got my hair washed. When Kyu was inquiring about my wants; I mentioned that I didn't want to cut the lenght, but just to get more layers because I have straight asian hair that makes it look so flat. Kyu was very honest with me and mentioned that he could not provide a full "women's haircut" service because I actually already have a lot of layers. And so he only trimmed my curtain bangs. And instead of charging for the price listed on their appointment website, he charged me just for the trim he was able to do that day. This studio is very honest and provide great care to their customers! Now, I know if Director Yop is busy, I can book with Kyu because they are both amazing! (I only go for haircuts, nothing else!) I'm writing this review for Hana, who I've been going to consistently over the last 3-4 months. She's amazing and exactly what I'm looking for in a stylist. She's friendly, direct, and gives great consultative advice and ideas on what to do with my hair (this is exactly what I was looking for because I was trying to do something new, but wasn't sure what would work/look good on me). She wasn't trying to upcharge me and has talked me out of more expensive treatment until the time was right (i.e. getting my perm after my hair grew to a more ideal length). On top of giving great haircuts, she also remembers the details from our last cuts and adjusts things over time. I've been happy with her services personally, but I've really noticed it with the compliments I've been getting from my wife, friends, and family. I came in for a haircut with Yop, and he was amazing! I showed him a photo of the cut I wanted, and he got it exactly right. He cut my hair dry, which I know takes more precision, and he was super detail-oriented. I really appreciated that he checked in with me throughout to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. Honestly, I've been to a lot of salons, and not many stylists get it right -- but Yop did. 5 stars for him! The reason I'm giving 4 stars overall is because of the salon environment. It felt a bit unclean, and the overall vibe wasn't very friendly or welcoming. I'm not sure if it was because I'm not Korean, but I felt a little out of place. I also noticed they offered a beverage to the woman next to me but didn't ask me, which felt a bit off. I came in based on my boyfriend's recommendations--he's been getting his hair cut at the Carson location for a while and always looks amazing afterward. I had the pleasure of getting my haircut by Director Yop, and let me just say--he absolutely nailed it. Yop was incredibly kind, funny, and down-to-earth. What really stood out to me was how meticulous and attentive he was throughout the entire process. He spent a full two hours perfecting my haircut, never rushing, and constantly checking in to make sure every section looked and felt exactly how I wanted. At one point, he even told me he'd "keep cutting all day" if that's what it took to make sure I was 100% happy with the results. That level of dedication is rare--and so appreciated. Director Kyu took AMAZING care of me when I had a very particular request- Ginger red to black ombre. When my hair rejected the dye he didn't charge me for reapplications and then he redid everything FOR FREE because the color turned out darker than expected. I had a wavy perm done by Yop, the director. Couldn't be happier. At first, I booked a haircut and perm for $160. After he looked at my hair, he told me he didn't think a haircut was necessary to have a good-looking full perm. He took the price of the haircut off and just charged me for the perm, which I thought was pretty cool of him to do. Later on, the perm didn't hold as well as we thought. I have really fine soft hair, and I think it just hard for the perm to set in. I called the studio, and he quickly rebooked me within a week for a touch up appointment free of charge. During the follow up, he adjusted the perm to be tighter and better suited to my hair. He also gave some more tips on how to maintain the perm and make it hold better. The studio is also beautiful and clean, with cool lights. Couldn't be happier with my experience, and I highly recommend this studio. read more

I've been going to their location in Hawaiian Gardens for years and decided to finally get my hair done at their second location in Buena Park! It was really easy to get an appointment. I just had to text their number stating that I had wanted to get my hair dyed, and they quickly responded with the available date and times I could come and was able to set my appointment. During the service, I got my hair done by Yop and requested for a cool ash brown color! He went ahead and looked over my hair to check if I was able to achieve the color and asked about my hair history. Afterwards, he diligently explained to me how the process would go regarding the hair dye process and informed me of each step along the way! Yop did let me know of certain limitations regarding my hair since I did previously dye my hair black, so it was a bit of a process to get it to the color I wanted but he was able to get my hair as close as he can to my desired color! I also requested for a hair trim during my session and Yop was able to fit in this service as well and left me with the most amazing haircut too. Both Alvin and Chris also assisted along the way helping with washing and drying my hair and made sure that I was comfortable during the whole session. My first experience at Stylette was honestly completely different from my expectations. After receiving a terrible haircut and service at a different salon, I delayed getting a cut again for so long. Unfortunately, I couldn't keep my hair undone because it started to look like an actual broom at this point so I decided to dig through a bunch of salons on yelp and finally booked a last minute appointment here. First of all, they wasted no time. As soon as I got there (15 minutes early to my appointment btw), I was immediately sat to get my hair washed. And I need to say, I took a fat nap on that chair because the technique was just too good. As someone who struggles with THICK asian hair with slight natural curls and a lot of hair, it would always look like Hagrid's from Harry Potter + more poofiness(?). Kyu noticed that as well and trimmed off the dead ends as well as the excess hair towards the bottom to make it look softer. I never asked for this, but turns out he really is a professional because I loved how it turned out. He most definitely knows what he's doing. After that, he started going in with the layers and my curtain bangs. FACE IS FRAMED. I also mentioned to him that I usually don't style my hair because my right hand doesn't know my left hand exists; I have absolutely no coordination. Kyu graciously taught me how to style them with a roller brush and a hairdryer, and even offered to do a perm for my next visit if I'd like. I didn't even know they did perms for bangs. Overall, I think my experience with Stylette has cured my unreasonable fear of hair salons. I will definitely be back and ask for Kyu's services again :) read more
