Honestly, I thought the only thing to be done with this couch was to throw it away. But in THREE days, these guys removed the upholstery, sewed new upholstery, then applied it. He was very easy to work with when I first put out a bid, helping to explain my options and recommending the amount of fabric that either he or I could supply as well as styles of cushion and so forth. (The project was reupholstering a bench for my front entryway and replacing the cushion as well.) He works swiftly, to my pleasant surprise. I appreciated the option for pick up and drop off (for a reasonable fee) in Manhattan although was able to take the 2 train to drop off and pick up the bench at his shop in the Bronx. I wish I knew of his services before ditching our old beloved and overly worn sofa two years ago and buying a new one. Now, I very much look forward to working with Jon again...probably once the big LaZBoy that was my grandpa's and has sentimental value to us needs to be reupholstered later this year. He has an assortment of fabrics and will always be honest and tell you if he thinks a fabric is not the right for the piece you are having him work on. I am a believer if you like the furniture and it has good bones re-do don't throw it away. My dining room chairs, living room couch and chairs and spare room sectional have all been done numerous times. Recently I had a fire in my home after having had some pieces recently done. They've restored a 90 year old bedroom set. It looks like new. They restored a desk that converts into a 9 foot dining table. It looks perfect and works perfectly. Saviour! Recent assignments given to him include reupholster two side chairs. The front to match the sofa fabric and the back a fun complimentary pattern. The decorator who helped me chose the fabrics suggesting a contra color for the trim (?) to stand out. We looked at fabrics and chose one that looks good next to the primary fabric. Fortunately I had asked John for his opinion when I showed him my fabric selections. Respectfully he suggested alternative choices and he offered to send me a photo of how each option would look on the chair before the trim was applied. My trim selection looked wrong and his option looks stunning. Furthermore, he rebuilt the entire chair even though I simply asked to replace the foam. He wanted to give me a 100% quality chair to last for a long time. The second assignment was to add foam to the cushions of my sofa and a big chair that he had upholstered for me around 15 years ago. Little did I realize how significant a difference the new foam would make for my furniture.
