    Different meats they sell
    Varinia R.

I wanted to grill some carne asada last week and forgot this carnicería is like a couple of minutes away from me. I bought some marinated ranchera and chicken. The store is small, but they have a nice variety of meats and they also have some vegetables and drinks you can purchase. My whole family enjoyed the meat and chicken. It was flavorful! Glad this carnicería is close to home!

Now that I have tasted a few different meats from their butchery, I am ready and willing to tell the world what my perception of Su Carniceria is. And it is all good. Walking in for the first time, I was surprised at how small the actual store is. There is the meat counter, a small refrigerated section for good looking, fresh produce, and a few metal rack shelves carrying dry goods and other essentials for a complete meal. The butcher does his magic in the back, behind a wall. But who can take their adoring eyes off the gorgeous prime grade meats that fill the case here. Moving several steps toward the back, the great selection of marinated beef and chicken thighs, the chicken al pastor, and 3 types of chorizo, from mild to melt-the-paint, spicy hot, caught my eye. The butcher explained that the marinated beef is the same quality as their beautifully marbled steaks, not the tough cuts like other stores. Yes! And the prices? Assume that prime ain't cheap. But honestly, comparing their prices with other local carnicerias offering the same prime grade, they seemed to be about equal, if not a little cheaper. The marinated meats are far more budget-friendly and in line with other local butcheries. So the final test was in the tasting, and *that* we did over the span of a few days. We stuck with the prepared meats, the chicken and beef, and frankly I was very impressed even though Mr. B chose to sear them on a griddle rather than take them outside to the bbq. Well, it *was* January after all. Both developed a lovely char, yet stayed very moist, and honestly evoked eye-rolling moans of delight. Far better, I thought, than my usual carniceria close by. As for the chorizo, mine (the mild version, of course) is still waiting in the freezer for it's day to shine, so no comment, yet. I am really looking forward to becoming a regular patron here, and I made sure my two adult children, who are both so lucky to live much closer than I, know of my stamp of approval. Turn on your GPS to find them. Their biggest misfortune is that they are hidden in a small strip mall with an unobstructed view of the eastbound 91 freeway, at the Pierce Street offramp. I think this is a great find!

Overrated personally didn't like the marinade too sweet

Lot of people been raving about this location. Wanted to try it out. Good quality meat but personally, I didn't like it marinade that they put on the chicken and meat is way too sweet.

So delicious! The quality of meat is amazing. This place was recommended by a family friend and I must admit totally worth it. The drive here is 45-50 minutes but I will make it every time we need carne asada for a special occasion. The meat always tastes delicious. The employees are always friendly and there is never a long wait. I love that they have a section with products only available in Mexico. Very clean and they always good music to set the party mood.

The best of the best in the game by far! From the service to the quality of the meat and the marinade, oof! I've had other top quality meat markets but I always find myself coming back to Su Carnicería!

Super clean shop. Lots of small groceries here too, snacks, candies, vegetables for cooking meat.

Amazing. First time trying this place. Normally go to La carneceria. But I found my new spot! SO TENDER!!! Great flavor. Good thickness on the cuts! Local Fireman I will recommend this to all my crew. Thank you!!!

Amazing carne, the people are great. They literally have the best chorizo I've ever had. The pineapple & habanero is fire, the ranchera is super high quality. Love this place..

The meat here is DELISH!! Got it for my husband's birthday party, everyone absolutely loved it! It's such a tiny space but the staff is quick to help and serve your meat in a tray if you prefer, which I did. I can't wait to go back, worth every penny! I failed to take a photo while grilling, next time for sure!

    So much bomb meat!
    Jizelle O.

Amazing quality meat that tastes bomb! The flavor is so good and consistent every time. Definitely recommend the Carne Asada and Short Ribs but they also have so many different kinds of meat. They also sell tortillas, cheese, salsa, guac, really good Mexican chips and other things at the shop. Pricey but worth it. Really clean, good service and consistent. Love this spot!

    Seasoned ribs. Yummy!

First, I arrived shortly after they opened on a Tuesday, which is important to highlight because they're closed on Mondays, and I suspect one dish I tried had the texture of leftovers (from the weekend). Part of me wants to try again later in the week, and day to see if this was a fluke. What I ordered was a rice bowl with braised pork belly and daily vegetables. Everything was good except the pork was dry and tough, clearly not braised that day or heated all the way through. I forget what my first choice was, but it wasn't available that day. My other item was the wonton soup, which also disappointed me for a few reasons. Portion size is good, but the broth tasted really thin, watery, and the wontons were overcooked and falling apart. The cause was they were forgotten about and the pot boiled over. Generally, you cook these below the boil to prevent the cloudy mess from disintegrating skins. The filling tasted fine, but again, overall flavors and balance was marred. I did, however, enjoy the lenon tea that comes with every combination meal. And, the employees are very nice, but the food didn't make the cut. They have a big menu and I've seen the skewers and hot pots in action so I know there's potential.

I had a wonderful phone conversation with the owner Ben who personally took my order. We agreed upon a date and time two weeks out since I was going to be out of town for the 4th of July week. They called while I was out of town to confirm the date and time (between 10-11 am) which was great! When I arrived to the store with my son around 11:15 because of the heavy traffic on 91W I went to the counter and was told by a young female that I needed to go to the pay counter. She was curt and not helpful. There was only three people ahead of me so no problem. But the elder gentleman in front of me, who was being helped by the young man who would eventually help me, took an exceptionally long time with his order. I'm just here to pay and pick up. No problem, I'll be patient and keep waiting. Two other costumers are helped by the female counter person and finally the elder customer leaves with his order and I'm next. The young male counter person then waits for me to initiate the conversation and doesn't greet me with a smile or hello or how can I help. I brush it off. I tell him I'm here to pick up my order, a whole pig and give him my last name. He fumbles around a few seconds and then asks how to spell my name and eventually finds my ticket order and asks what time. The time is written at the top of the ticket he failed to notice. I pay for the order. He mutters someone will be out with my order and disappears. No thank you, no attentiveness like he gave the older gentleman in front of me. Again, I've been in my car with my son for over two hours from San Diego in traffic and this fella couldn't give me five minutes of courtesy. I'm waiting, and waiting and waiting while others eventually come into the store and are being helped and leaving. The older female worker at the pay counter is still there helping customers while the younger female at the deli counter is now apparently on a break and making herself lunch. She stops momentarily when a customer comes in for deli service. I'm still waiting by the counter to make sure I'm at least acknowledged but I don't see the young male counter worker who apparently left for lunch since it's now noon. The older female worker can probably see on my face that I'm not happy and says to me he's working on my order. He? Who's he? I am just here to pay and pick order between 10-11. How much time and trouble could it be to put this order together which was made two weeks prior? A different gentlemen finally arrives with three boxes and two large paper bags that comprise my order. On the way out the older female worker says goodbye and was very courteous. At this point I'm pretty upset because this is not a large haul and this order could've easily been second and not 45 minutes! I arrive home after the two hour drive back home to SD and looking forward to the meat, especially the sausages and putting it into the freezer which I cleared out in preparation for the meat. My older son is home to help. As we are sorting and placing the meat I notice that there are no sausages. It's just sausage meat but no links. I guess it's my fault for assuming and not specifying sausage links on at peat some of the order. It was a huge letdown. I had array went out to purchase rolls and buns for a bbq this weekend and to have friends and family over. Oh well. You live and you learn. At least the bacon was great.
