Not really sure what happened but I feel like these last few months the work that has been done to my car has been lazy work. My windshield wipers were super bad and so was my air filter and I was told it needed to be changed asap and I didn't at the time and when I came back a few months later my car review they send you after checking your car it showed everything was fine and in perfect condition when I havnt even done the reccomended things to do from the last visit. Are cars no longer being checked properly? I also got an oil change and didn't receive my updated sticker to see when to come back. Super dissapointed with the service now I never really know what my car needs done when the workers can't even correctly check the vehicle or care enough to. Just lazy work. read more

Have a Subaru? Mike Shaw Subaru is the place for Service. 163,000 miles dashboard flashes with more warning lights than I've ever seen. Called Subaru, talked to Dan Peeples -- he told me to take it to Autozone to have the codes read before resetting. I also took my car for evaluation to an independent not authorized Subaru Service Shop -- a mistake. They charged for the evaluation. Said I needed a rebuilt transmission and never called back. Dan and I were in communication for a week on my car -- stating I could drive it as long as the hot oil light did not come on. When it did, he said: "stop driving and have it towed in". Within 24 hrs of having my car at Mike Shaw's, Dan called me back with a diagnosis and cost. I picked my car up that afternoon -- transmission repaired. Test drove it to Winter Park -- not only did the car perform outstanding but I got 30.5 mpg driving to the mountains with a 2011 Subaru. My worst fear was that the car was not repairable at a reasonable price and NEW CAR. Now I'm confident for another 100K miles. Dan and his team are incredible. And I have confidence that Subaru and Mike Shaw will stand behind the repair work. I am more than satisfied and glad to know that there is a friendly, quality-minded, excellent Subaru-dealership/service for my car. Recently moved to Denver. Brought our 09 Forester for an oil change and have a couple of random issues addressed. Other than waiting to be greeted I had a great experience. We've tried for over a year to get the passenger seat belt alarm disabled and other dealers have promised to fix it and done nothing. Mike Shaw's folks informed me that it's actually illegal for them to disable but then supplied me with the information to do it myself. The honesty and directness was refreshing. I filled out an experience summary through their website and someone promptly responded to my comments. I think we'll return for future services. read more

we bought our '12 Legacy from Groove Subaru but after a terrible service experience we looked elsewhere and ended up at Mike Shaw. Their customer service is great, very friendly and easy to schedule an appointment. they communicate through email with is another plus for me. I like their facility, well lit and a nice comfortable waiting area. Their shuttle service is also great, no ghetto vans or crappy cars, i rode in a brand new Impreza hatchback. We've been there 3 times now for oil changes and service and after dropping my car off (as early as 730a) i always got my car back by early afternoon. We'll definitely be back. read more

These guys are fantastic! I've been in a few times now and I have to say I am always SO pleased with the service! They're extremely friendly and welcoming and they are the most knowledgeable in town. They keep you completely informed and aren't pushy about anything. Tom even took me back to show me what was going on with my car. I had a few concerns and he walked me through everything. The location is honestly not ideal, it's about a 30-40 minute drive for me. But as long as I have a Subaru, I won't go anywhere else! read more

This week we had our car fixed by Tommy and Kathy at Mike Shaw Subaru.....This was the most amazing experience I could imagine.. We dropped off the car early...and they had a loaner already waiting for us inside so it was warm. While we were checking out, they shared candy with my son and helped keep him entertained. Update 11/19/2014 - My trip to this Subaru dealership is still haunting me. A different mechanic was taking the wheels off and a few of the lug nuts snapped off because Mike Shaw Subaru put them on too tight and stripped the screws. I'm considering legal action at this point. read more

Service advisor was condescending and he felt sticky grease coming out of the lug nuts and coating the wheels was "normal for Subaru's" he showed me several cars on the lot that had the same issue. I told him that just because all or most Subaru's have this problem didn't mean it wasn't a problem. He refused to clean up the grease because it wasn't under warranty. So I called Subaru's customer service and the paid the dealership to remove the excess grease left behind during assembly. No customer service skills. Wrong is wrong glad they corrected it after I had complained. read more

We took our Subaru Forester to 3 places for a screw in one tire. All of the other places told us we needed to replace all 4 tires because of one screw! We finally took it to Mike Shaw expecting to replace all 4 tires and Gunner, the service clerk, told us he was actually able to repair the tire! He didn't try to upsell us or rip us off, and we saved a lot of money! The work was great and they were so fast! A month later and the tire is still holding on just fine. It's great to know there are still places out there that won't take advantage of the customer! We will definitely be back. read more

I have taken my Subaru's to Mike Shaw for service for over 15 years. I have always been treated with respect. I have compared their pricing and found them to be comparable to independent repair shops. Yesterday I took my Crosstrek in for an oil change. Today I noticed a problem and called to make an appointment to bring in my car on Monday. A few minutes later the service advisor with whom I dealt with yesterday called me back and arranged for a technician to come by my house and see what was wrong. He arrived, checked out the car, and took it back to the dealership to be cleaned and have a new oil change. Upon bringing the car back, he also cleaned my garage floor of the oil that had leaked out. That is service!!! read more

I have been maintaining my Subaru at this dealer many times. They were always prompt with the check-in's, and everyone working there is super nice. Their price is comparable to other dealers and I like the quality of they work. Only once I waited almost two hours for an oil change, but all other visits the works were done within reasonable time. read more

Outstanding Service! My wife and I bought a used Subaru in Chicago before moving to Colorado. Since the car was higher mileage, we bought an extended warranty with the car to cover us the next 20k miles. After a few months in Denver, we took our car to Mike Shaw for the regular oil change. Their Mechanics discover that the head gasket and oil o-ring are leaking oil, which combined with the recommended 90k service totals up to about $3k. Of course, we immediately tell them about our warranty and Ryan, a service manager, calls in for approval. Our warranty company hemmed and hawed about the timing of our call (odd, after 4 months of owning the vehicle), and we were forced to leave the vehicle overnight, Ryan kept on their case for the following days and managed to get their inspector out despite their reservations. After some paperwork from us and lots of calls by Ryan, we finally got the insurance company to okay the costs. It turns out the Chicago dealership had been cheating us, but we managed to work it out with the insurance company. After dealing with the insurance company, Ryan was very up front about what was going on and our choices. Since replacing the head gasket involves removing the engine, he recommended replacing the timing belt (recommended replacement at 100k miles, so 10k miles early) since doing so now would save us $400 in labor. He also said that we could replace two of the belt pulleys (the insurance company was paying for two that were squeeking), and was very honest about the prices and risks (we decided to wait on those, since the mechanic felt we had 30-60k miles left on them). It was time to have some serious work done on my 2006 Tribeca (127k). New bushings, alignment and front and rear brakes were required. I got a quote from a local reliable repair shop and it was pricey! Out of desperation, I took a chance and called Mike Shaw Subaru. I was lucky to get in touch with Ryan Smith, Mike Shaw Service Advisor. He is a champ! We talked about some options, he made sure I knew what really had to happen vs what should happen soon. When there's this much work to be done, it matters. I still need a new oil valve and air filter...and probably something else. Had an oil change and almost all the oil leaked by morning. Went back and was told I had to buy a new pan because the drain plug wore out. No one else other than this shop had done an oil change in last 2 year's. Still had to pay. Next day there was a new sizeable fresh oil stain under car. Left a negative review online and then was told not to come back even though newly installed pan is leaking. Had to pay a different mechanic to reinstall. So $300 later after needing just an oil change and 2 trips to mike Shaw and 1 to Jackson auto car finally has a proper oil change and isnt leaking. Never heard of a shop who installs an oil pan sends you home with it leaking then says don't come back. read more

I have a 2005 Subaru Outback, which I generally take to my local mechanic (see other review) for most maintenance. Sometimes, I take it to Mike Shaw for things I feel a dealership should do. While everyone else I have dealt with is extremely pleasant, Dustin Garland has been a jerk time and time again. He makes you feel like you know nothing about your specific requested job or about cars in general. I always make sure to request a different technician. After having him once by default, I was forced to interact with him by chance upon picking up my car and he was the same grumpy, rude unapproachable worker as before. When people go to spend a lot of money on something they value tremendously, it would behoove the employees to treat clients with respect and give them a positive feeling about the experience. Unfortunately, I have to give them this rating because Dustin has been rude twice, he would get one star if it was just him. I also complained to the GM in between the two above interactions which did not appear to change his attitude. No complaints about the work done on my car. read more

I have a 14 crosstrek hybrid. @75k mi I scheduled my maint appt. The day I was taking it in the lights started flashing & said to take in for service. I found out that I had a power inverter failure . The part was on backorder. A month &1/2 later my car was ready. When I went to pick it up I noticed black ash all over my white car. I opened up the door to get in and it sucked in tons of ash inside all over my camel leather interior. They parked it next to their building while they were doing a clean burn in their furnace. When I asked them to clean it out one of the guys took a rag & began wiping the leather. It smudged the ash. I wanted them to detail my car asap. They agreed to do it & said for me to wait an hour. Once they were finished It was still full of ash. I asked for the service manager again. He agreed to schedule a full shampoo/detail. I had to bring my car back 3 days later. Once I got it back it was acceptable but still had ash. I gave up. I was told jokingly that no one wanted to see my car there again anytime soon. So I made it to 13k miles & I needed my 15 month maint. The day I was going to take it in the display started flashing & said emission system failure. I took my car in at 930am on a Fri. I scheduled w Kathy because I trust her. I got there & Kathy was on vacation. I got Stephen. He said that he would call me later w status. At the end of the day he called & said that they could not recognize the codes my car was displaying. He said the there is only one tech that could work on my hybrid & he would have him look at it on mon. He would call me Mon w status. Late Mon I hadn't received a call. I called & left a voicemail. He had the day off. He called on Tues & said he would try to have them look at it. Wed afternoon they looked at it & was another inverter failure. Stephen said they would get the part and install it on Thurs & I would get my car back on Thurs afternoon. I told him I wanted to trade it in because this car was giving me too many issues. I paid 30k for a new subaru that has been in the shop more than any Subaru should with only 13k miles on it. He said he would have paperwork with my options ready when I picked up my car. E.o.d Thurs he sent me a text & said that they didn't install it and it would be done by 4pm on friday. I got a text at 330 on Fri saying it wouldn't be done until 5 because they tore my trunk apart. He said that I needed to talk to a sales guy re a trade. The sales guy wanted me to walk the lot. I told him that I don't need to see anything. I just need to know what they could do for me. After talking to him he said I needed to come up with another 5k down to keep my payments the same and get a new car. I got my car and left. It was there for a week this time. 2 days later I noticed 2 chips in the paint on the rear bumper. They only could have came from them tearing apart my trunk. I called the service manager jonathan & a voicemail. He called me back and agreed to fix the paint. When I got there and he looked at it he made me feel like, "these small chips are a problem?" Yes, they are. His crew did it. He said for me to come back that afternoon and he would have it ready. I showed up at 430 and he wasn't there and had someone else talk to me. My car wasn't ready when I arrived. We inspected the car and one of the chips looked like it wasn't even fixed. Honestly I could have done a better job with whiteout because at least it would have filled in the chip. The thin color in the crater of the chip was white and my car is not pure white it is crystal white pearl which has a bit of camel color pearl mixed with the white. We showed the guy the issue and he said it looked horrible but there was nothing he could do because he was only the middleman. He said to call jonathan and leave a message because he was gone for the day. Of course. I called and left a voicemail asking him to call me back because there was an issue. He never called me back. Please don't take your car here. They do not know what they are doing and besides Kathy, give horrible service. I am so over them. Buying a subaru was the worst mistake ever. In my home town I would probably get great service. Here at Mike Shaw I got nothing but trouble, long wait times, and broken promises. read more

Best Subaru service in Denver area, and it's the 3rd one I've tried in 5 years. The service reps are honest and reliable and very willing to answer questions. I drive 20 extra minutes to get to Mike Shaw, even for an oil change, because I know they will be on time and, more importantly, up front about what I really need. read more

I cannot fully state how awful my experience was with Mike Shaw Subaru. I came in with a lovely 2014 Forester with no problems besides needing it's 7500 mile service. What I left with was only just corrected, a month later, by a different dealership. To give an indication of their level of attentiveness, they failed to replace my air filter, among other things. Furthermore, my radio was no longer able connect to my phone via bluetooth. Lastly, and perhaps most worrisome, my car was still displaying a "change oil" warning, and was experiencing hard starts. I have since had service, to fix these issues, done at Groove Subaru. I haven't had any trouble since. read more

I recently brought my 2005 Legacy GT in for required maintenance (timing belt) and of course multiple items were found to be needed as per my "action" plan. I ended up spending $1500.00 this first round. I was also told I needed a new battery and cables. I knew the battery was needed but when I saw that the total cost of a battery and cables was $364.00 I was somewhat cautious. I asked if I could get a better deal. (I assumed since I just spent a bunch of money) and the best they could do was $300.00. I called Autonation Subaru Arapahoe and I took my car in and I only needed a new battery. So I saved over $200.00. I feel really taken advantage of and now wonder if I really needed all the other shit that I was told. The feeling that I was screwed because I am a woman is very real. I will not be going back to this specific Subaru dealer. Also, something to know.. negative battery cables are not even in stock at the service departments because they very rarely go bad..so if they tell you that your car needs one... be for warned. I brought in my 2011 Subaru WRX for an oil change, a noise in the drive train and a tire balance/rotate. They were very polite and fixed all my issues and even detailed the exterior of my car because there was residue from the factory coverings they use for shipment. I purchased this car from Flatiron Subaru and got tired of rude customer service reps in the service department and my issues not getting resolved, so I wanted to try Mike Shaw and I'm very glad I did. I have not had such a good experience at a car dealership and will be a regular customer here from now on. read more

I have had nothing but negative experiences with Mike Shaw Subaru. On an older Subaru Forester that I had, I would take it in for maintenance, they would work on it, and a month later it would break down. The service staff are rude, and are not very willing to answer questions. The exception to this was Ryan, who was very helpful. When I got my new Forester, I got a warranty on it that covered the windshield. A few months later, it got cracked, and I called Mike Shaw to get it fixed. I tried calling various departments and people, and left multiple messages over the course of 2-3 weeks, and never heard back from anyone. I have since taken my business to another Subaru dealership nearby, and have had a much better experience. My advice is to avoid Mike Shaw Subaru at all costs. read more

I moved to Colorado from Illinois with a brand new Subaru Forester. I went in for a standard oil change to Mike Shaw Subaru since I had a great experience from my dealership in Illinois. After a point by point inspection they insisted that I needed to have my transmission fluid changed on a car that had less than 15,000 miles on it. I will NEVER return to this dealership. Not only did they completely take advantage of me, but they charge me $300 for a service that I didn't need. After some research I discovered that you do not need your transmission fluid changed until you reach AT LEAST 100,000 miles. I understand that I am a girl in my mid-twenties and know nothing about cars, but taking advantage of a faithful customer to make a few bucks is not a way to run a business. read more

This review is for their service department. A while back I had some issues with my Subaru not starting. My husband bought and installed a new battery and that resolved the issue for a day or so. We had the car towed to Mike Shaw Subaru for what I suspected was an alternator issue. After inspecting the car they informed me that it would cost $1000 to drive the car off the lot because a handful of things were wrong with the car - the alternator and then some - and if I only had the alternator done I risked losing control of the steering at any time. They also replaced the battery because they said the one (brand new) in the car was a dud. To say that I was skeptical of their "diagnosis" would be an understatement. When I went to Pep Boys to return the "dud" battery, they tested it right in front of me and showed that it was perfectly fine BUT they allowed me to return it anyway (now that's what I call customer service). When I called Mike Shaw to complain the guy in service who I spoke to (I wish I got his name) was beyond condescending and left it at "we trust the guys in our service dept". I informed him that I'd never give them another dime of business and have kept my word. STAY AWAY FROM MIKE SHAW SUBARU - they'll create all kinds of issues with your car and tell you you can't leave without fixing them. read more
