I took my jeep here to get a single thing diagnosed; the high idle, and instead they went and looked at every other problem on the thing. I still don't know what is causing the high idle. They did not look at what I needed them to look at and I highly doubt they understand what they're doing at this location. Save your money, go somewhere that has a solid known reputation. read more

L&R overcharges for parts and labor, and lies about Colorado state law in defense. My car's brake master cylinder assembly needs to be replaced. L&R quoted $5,090, but my extended warranty people only wanted to pay $3,813 (I pay a $200 deductible for covered repairs). Appraisal and estimate are attached as images. I called my ext. warranty people to see if they'd cover the difference and they explained they pay MSRP on parts and go by the "Mitchell" guide for time-labor estimates. Pretty reasonable. Called back to L&R and they say they use Mitchell for time-labor estimates too, but that it actually takes 3x longer than what Mitchell says. L&R is charging me $3,400 for the brake assembly while MSRP is $3,000, and I can buy it today, new OEM from Nissan, for $2,350 (image attached). When I told L&R that I can get it OEM for $1,050 less, and insisted they match MSRP they said they can't, because Colorado law makes them absouletly liable for any failure and it would ruin them if they took on that kind of liability. Also, they're unable to simply buy the part from the $2,350 OEM source--with fully insured shipping and all factory warranties--becuase somehow that also would ruin them. I asked for more information on this law, and several days later L&R stated they looked and couldn't find it, but it's totally a thing; believe them. I looked up the 2022 Colorado Revised Statutes, Title 42, Article 9, the "Motor Vehicle Repair Act": https://leg.colorado.gov/sites/default/files/images/olls/crs2022-title-42.pdf. Nowhere in the document does it state or imply that a repair facility assumes liability for parts based on the source of those parts. Here's what it does say (attached as image): * The estimate must specify if any parts to be used are new OEM, new non-OEM, used, reconditioned, or rebuilt (42-9-107; pg 759 of the pdf). * If the facility wants to use used, reconditioned, or rebuilt parts, they must obtain separate consent from the customer (42-9-107). * If used, reconditioned, or rebuilt parts are used, the facility must adjust the original estimate to reflect the the altered cost (42-9-107). * The facility must return any replaced parts to the customer upon request, with some exceptions like body parts (42-9-109; pg 755 of the pdf). * The facility must disclose on the invoice if any parts were supplied by someone other than the facility (42-9-108; pg 759 of the pdf). There is no provision making repair facilities absolutely liable if a customer-supplied part, or any part, fails. Liability depends on the specific circumstances. The law specifically allows for the use of customer-provided parts and states clear guidelines for their use. L&R is outright lying to their customers about how their profession is regulated. Then, when I insisted their time numbers should match, L&R said that the Mitchell guidebook, that they choose to use and tell people they adhere to, is wrong, so I get to pay the difference. But this is becuase of their higher quality work that takes 3X longer. An alternative explantion is that L&R is 1/3rd as capable as the typical repair shop, or perhaps they just overcharge their customers egregiously. You be the judge as to whether you want to trust these people that were entirely dishonest with me. Note to L&R: I would love to ammend this review stating how you reconsidered and decided to charge me a fair price. You have my number. read more

My daughter's 2013 Infiniti 37s was slugish. After we took it to the dealer, we called and took the car into L&R Automotive for a second opinion. The shop thoroughly inspected the car, explained in detail why it drives the way it does, and recommended a proper repair. L & R was honest, and they did not try to tell me what I didn't need to get done to the car to make more money. Took my 2015 f150 in last Thursday first, I took it to advanced auto the guys there are fantastic told me that my spark plugs are fouled and needed. New coils didn't charge me anything they were so nice to me. so last Thursday, I took it over to L&R automotive and here in Arvada next to the. tea Garden restaurant they charge me $198 to look at it and it was the same thing that Avance auto told me for free. so I took it to Ford. They told me it was the spark plugs and the coils and they charge me $308 at Ford and they treated me with nothing but respect and did a fantastic job. I would not take my dog to LNR automotive they took my $198 and didn't do anything. they wanted to charge me $1600 plus the 198 just to look at it what a horrible shame. read more

Number 1 they are expensive. they quoted me 1200$ to do tie rods after taking my car there for an inspection. Glad I did the tie rods myself because, while they were old, they weren't my problem. I take my truck to 303 to have an alignment done and they inform me my rack is the issue. They had me look under the truck and they showed me why - it definitely had play in it. 303 replaced the rack and pinion (which had inner tie rods on it already) for 1200$. I wouldn't waste my time at L and R after my experience, wish they'd stop sending me mail trying to get my business. They seem nice, there are better options out there for your wallet. read more

Stopped by for an oil change today. The oil change was affordable and comes with the most in depth multipoint inspection I've ever seen - completely complimentary. The waiting room is clean and a place you'd actually want to wait. We've been going somewhere else for years but I think I'm officially switching for my regular maintenance because they have toys and snacks for my two year old, plus a fish tank. Great shop with a great staff, took the car because I was leaking coolant and car was over heating. The way they do the diagnostic is cool. Once they find the issue they messaged me the computer test results as well as a picture of where the leak was coming from. I scheduled with Oscar who has mad phone skills and demeanor - was he a receptionist in another life? He, and the staff, were just as cool in person and even washed my car after servicing it on my first (of what will become MANY) visits there. I appreciate that they give back to the community, too, facilitating toy drives for a couple of charities this holiday season - and offering customers a credit towards future service in exchange for dropping off a new toy. The owner and his wife and great people ! these hard working people had a car done less then 3 days making sure my nano's car was safe for her to drive! they also very affordable and treats people right ! Stopped by the shop to request an estimate on service needed on my car. Oscar was very rude and basically refused to give me one. It was obvious from the start that all he wanted me to do was make an appointment and then HE would decide what my car needed, etc. When I asked how much the charge would be for the transmission flush/refill, he said he couldn't tell me until he saw how bad the fluid looked since if it was "too bad" then draining it would make things worse ! I told him the car only had 85,000 miles on it and he said that doesn't matter, it could still be all burned up in there. Obviously he thought he knew everything and I was a dumb-ass for asking questions. Sorry pal, but you lost a potential customer and your crappy attitude will likely cost your company more customers. I was even going to go ahead and book an appointment after his insults but I told him I had to check on something and would let him know if I could make it or not.... I originally took the vehicle to Sill-TerHar motors and received a price quote of $700. You were able to do the exact same service for a little over $300. Dealerships unfortunately have a captive audience and I unfortunately was in a position that required them to look at it. $125 just to tell me what I already knew was wrong. I called the shop to get a quote on a timing belt replacement four months ago and they quoted me $400. Timing belt recently went out this week and I had it towed to L&R on a weekend. I wanted to verify the verbal quote of $400 but they were closed on Saturday. I had it towed to L&R on Saturday and called back on Monday. The guy I spoke to initially quoted me $500 and when I informed him that I had the vehicle towed there, he raised it $1000. I informed him I would go somewhere else. I later got a call from Mike the owner who was quite rude and threatening to add a storage fee to the vehicle if it wasn't out today. I live in Arvada and needed a check up for my used car before a long road trip. I found L & R here on Yelp and decided to go to them after reading reviews, and because they were so close to home. The process was super easy and great! I dropped my car off and within a couple hours they had a diagnostic for me in the form of a webpage that showed what needed work. It was super helpful to see what needed the most work vs. what could wait. I asked for some quotes and got some things fixed right then and there. I had my car back by the end of the day! The people working here are very friendly and helpful. I didn't feel taken advantage of (I'm a young woman and I worry about that since I know barely anything about cars). L & R had great reviews and was the closest mechanic to my house that listed electrical services. I had already taken my car to an auto parts store to run diagnostics, check the battery and alternator. Got lots of funky codes and was told to see an electrical mechanic. I dropped my car off after hours and asked them to call me before they started work so I could explain what I had already done and what I wanted checked. Instead, they called me to say they ran diagnostics, checked battery and alternator and got funky codes and that I owe them $60 for "diagnosing" and it would be $110/hr to continue to diagnose. When I explained they hadn't done anything I hadn't already done they said state law is they get to spend $100 worth of work on any car that gets dropped off. This was not listed on the website and they did not call me before beginning work. Turns out it was a loose grounding wire that I fixed myself. read more

I originally had my breaks checked in tiresplus, and they quoted myself an enormous amount of work that needs to be done on my car and, of course, it came with the money that was over $600. It also took precisely three hours simply to get an oil change and the breaks check. I went to L & R Automotive and they visibly showed myself the condition of my break pads and rotors. It turned out to be the opposite. I only needed my rear break pads replaced, and it only took about an hour to do the job. L & R is a very reliable and credible shop to take your car to.
