If you are seeing another vet, vet like this!CRAZY! My dog needed a tooth extracted and I called a lot of vets that Quoted $1500 +++ to $3500. This vet charged a fraction of that, so much that I couldn't believe it. She has been in practice for over 30 years and says that she wants care for peoples pets to be affordable so that they can have as much joy as she does with animals, and you can tell that she is very sincere. Dr. Richardson is amazing, as is her staff. We've been taking our dogs to Suburban Vet for almost 3 years - routine shots/exams as well as a recent scare that required diagnosis eventually leading to surgery. Not only did they track down expert second opinions, they made a spot for him for the surgery. Post surgery, Dr. Richardson called to walk us through the details and Rhonda called the next morning to check on my pup. I've had dogs my entire life but have rarely seen a vet this dedicated and personable. The customer service is unbeatable and the prices are very fair. Had to take my cat in to get some medicine and I was super nervous cause I had read so many bad reviews of vets around here and was quoted some really high prices. I decided to try this place because of there high star rating and boy am I glad. This is a really awesome place. Everyone was so kind and caring towards me and my kitty! Dr. Richardson and her staff are wonderful. I've taken our fur babies to her ever since we moved to the area. She is very affordable when compared to other vets in the area. She doesn't try to up sell, in fact she talked me out of getting xrays for my cat because it was unnecessary. She just spayed my dog and pulled a couple retained baby teeth. When I called around to check prices (only because she doesn't take care credit) I was quoted almost $900 for the spay and teeth pulling. She charged just over $300 and didn't charge me to pull the teeth. She truly understands how hard it is to pay such high prices for pet care which makes it easier to keep our pets happy and healthy. read more

Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. My dogs are excited to go here and get showered with love...even when not feeling well. I like Dr Richardson a lot. But her staff is incompetent. 4 out of 5 visits with the same dog and the girl upfront asks me every time if the dog is due for anything. The last time, I sent my son for the monthly weighing and flea pill. They administered an unnecessary shot, charged for an appointment I never made, and did not provide a detailed receipt. Only gave him a Visa charge receipt. I had docs stating he wasn't due for any shots for another 7 months as well as Dr Rochardson confirming that on the previous visit. Not trying to be ugly - but the staff is either lazy or stupid.... or both. read more

She came to the back deck on a Sunday to put my daughters cat to sleep....this was not nearly as painful as it could have been for my daughter who has many health issues. It's like visiting a old friend when you see her. We are so blessed to have found her 15 years ago and followed her to her own practice. She saved our pet Derby's life on more than one occasion in very critical situations and immediately found the diagnosis. We needed a miracle and Dr. Richardson delivered!!! When the time finally came for Derby to leave this life, Dr. Richardson and her staff went above and beyond, as they ALWAYS Do! When she is not treating and saving animal lives, she donates and volunteers her time to other vet clinics and animals. I've been to a lot of Vet's in the greater metro Atlanta area, due to both moving and unhappiness w/ care, but was referred to Dr. Phyllis Richardson by a good friend years ago. I finally made, what I hope to be, my last Vet switch! We've now been with her over three years and couldn't be happier. She is warm, loving and very knowledgeable. She has doctored three of our dogs from one senior, one young, a brand new puppy and one cat. Her approach has always been nothing short of perfection for us. She is always calm and caring whether discussing vaccines for puppies or concern for your sick deteriorating senior. My husband, who is an ER physician, thinks she is by far the best Vet we have ever been to. His exact words were, "I love her, I wish she treated people." I personally have not had any problems with office staff and have had nothing but great experiences during my visits. read more

We have used this vet clinic since before Dr. Richardson took it over, and before and since I have loved this place! The staff truly cares about you, and your fur babies. They do their best to not only help your pets, but are amazing in being supportive emotionally when there are issues. We have had to have 3 animals put to sleep with this staff (2 due to old age/1 due to a paralyzing ruptured disk), and each time, they were amazingly supportive during some of the hardest times we've had to deal with in our lives. Dr. Richardson even donated to a veterinary research foundation in my pet's names. She truly cares about you, and your pets. I would highly recommend this office for any needs you may have for your pets. They are also fair in pricing. I have never felt "ripped off" or "swindled" when paying my bill, or pressured to get things we didn't need. read more

I took my almost 7 year old chocolate Lab to see Dr. Richardson because he seemed very ill. Dr.Richardson did x rays and blood work and could not tell me exactly what was wrong. I was told he may need to go to ER but it was not made to seem like a matter of life and death. He was given antibiotics and fluids. I was told someone would call to check his condition the next day. Never did Dr. Richardson make his condition seem like it was going to kill him in hours. I took him home and 7 hours later he was dead. He died of toxic shock from his stomach twisting and finally bursting. He suffered a tremendous amount before taking final breath. No one from Suburban Clinic ever called to check on him. After consulting with several Vets they concluded an experienced Vet should have noticed his symptoms along with the blood work and x rays was more than likely a severe/critical stomach disorder called "Bloat" or Gastric Dilatation Volvulus. My dog displayed nearly every symptom of bloat, which I had never heard of until after he died. Thanks to Google and educated Vets I did not have to wonder why my dog died so suddenly. I was glad to know how he died but not how I had to figure out on my own. This kills dogs within 2 or 3 days. I told her it had almost been 40 hours since I noticed his symptoms and behavior change. I told Dr. Richardson that it seemed like his chest was expanding. This disorder acts very rapidly. On Sunday I was playing with him and he was dead on Tuesday. 2 days. It would have been to late to save him at that point, but I should not have been given the advice to take him home. I should have taken him to be put down instead of witnessing his death and pain beyond anything I could imagine. "Poor guy." Dr. Richardson lives directly across the street from me and since she or none of her staff followed up with me I went to the clinic and realized it was closed on Thursday. I then went home and walked across street to speak with her regarding all that had transpired from his death to the fact no one cared enough to call to why she could not understand what was happening to my buddy from all the testing and the very obvious symptoms he displayed. Her car was there but she would not answer her door. If Dr. Richardson would treat her neighbor of 15-20 years in such a manner it should make anyone weary of taking their beloved pet to see her. I would hate for this to happen to another person. It has now been 3 months and Dr. Richardson nor her staff never contacted me. I don't go away just because I'm ignored! I am still not over how I was treated."No excuse"! She has seen him for heart worm test in the past and also outside and believed that my brown lab was a Rottweiler. Also, Dr. Richardson comes in the exam room with her dog and says: " I have something to cheer you up." She was talking about me seeing her dog. What would have cheered me up is if anyone from that place acted like they cared about my dog or me. If your pet becomes ill you should take them to a knowledgeable Vet. If you have a large breed dog, be aware of this disorder called Bloat, because it will take your dog in 2 or 3 days if not treated immediately. Web MD and ASPCA are the sites I used to educate myself on what killed my best friend. I walked out with absolutely no answers as to what was wrong and a false hope my dog would be may be okay. If I get another dog, he/she will go to a well educated vet. read more
