My group of 7 bowled here on a Wednesday evening. We were easily able to get 2 lanes next to each other. If you're hoping to have bumpers for the kids, then they only have a few lanes to accommodate that. The bowling alley doesn't sell food, but they partner with a nearby restaurant. We ordered pizza and wings that were delivered directly to our lane...very nice! The bowling alley is very well maintained and there's a nice selection of bowling balls. Walked in at 3 yesterday. I was in a group of four and there were a ton of open lanes so we requested two lanes in an effort to bowl more games. The jerk workin the counter claimed he "couldn't afford" giving up two lanes because they were so terribly busy apparently. We turned around and surveyed the lanes, attempting to illustrate just how not busy the alley was and he didn't take kindly to that "attitude". Somehow insulted, he told us to get out and refused to give us even a single lane. Lived in this neighborhood and been going to this alley for over a decade and somehow the staff get more and more surly every time I come back. I love bowling. I'm terrible at it, but I love it! However, bowling in the city gets expensive and it seems like there is never a good time to go, so we tend to head to the suburbs. Suburbanite Bowl is everything I want in a bowling alley. Granted, my standards aren't too high, because again, I'm a terrible bowler, but this is definitely my preferred spot. We haven't had food here, because we're usually heading somewhere after, but they have a decent craft beer selection. The staff is always nice and helpful and since we tend to come on a weekend afternoon, we end up in a lane away from children/families. They're pretty good about figuring out which lane to place people in. They're on Groupon from time to time, but always seem to have some sort of deal going on, especially in summer. read more

When we called on the phone, the man that picked up was incredibly rude. Couldn't even finish asking my questions before he hung up. So I decided to get in my car and see if there were any openings. Met a few friends and our kids at Suburbanite Bowl for a fun night out. We loved it. It's kid friendly with good shoe selection and the nice bumpers. You can tell it also is a great place for more serious bowlers. We ordered Zazzos from across the street and got drinks from the bar it was super easy. Staff was nice and everything was clean. I called the bowling alley earlier in the day to see if they were open for public bowling, the young lady replied yes and then we ended the call. My husband and I went to the bowling alley around 6pm and were turned away. The young man at the front desk asked us if we had a reservation to which we responded no. He said they had nothing available due to a league bowling and existing reservations. I informed him that I'd called earlier and the young lady didn't mention that a reservation was necessary nor does the website mention or allow you to make a reservation. He said matter of factly, you need to make a reservation a day in advance; we don't have anything. This was our first time coming here and likely our last, horrible customer service. This situation did not make a good first impression. And we were really wanting to like this place because it's close to our home and reasonable priced. No thrills or frills but that was okay for us....until we had this experience. We're on the hunt for another local bowling alley. read more

For Father's Day, we took Dave's Dad bowling here, and had a great time! The place is clean. The staff is friendly. The drinks were reasonable, as were the shoe rentals and game prices. What I really liked was that the music wasn't blaring, so we were able to have a conversation without shouting. Plus, this is one of the few bowling alleys in the area that are open on Sundays. My classmates and I live in the burbs and it's really boring at night. So, the next best thing besides driving into the city is enjoying a night with our friends at cosmic bowling at Suburbanite Bowl. We arrived around 11 PM on a Saturday and were able to get two lanes next to each other easily. We were a bit confused on how to get started and didn't know that we can pay after we finished bowling. So, FYI: get a lane, get your shoes, play as many games as you want, and then pay after you're done. For a Saturday night rate, I paid $9 for shoes and two games, which is pretty cheap. They have bar and kitchen here but the kitchen closes at midnight. They have special deals on shots but the cheaper ones ran out so we couldn't get the $2 shots and had to upgrade to the $3 shots. The lanes were clean and did not malfunction; the machines are easy to work with. Definitely would come back! read more

This bowling alley looked okay from what I saw, but I was never able to bowl. I had called this alley on a Saturday night around 6 PM to ask if they had lanes available after my first choice informed me that they had leagues playing until 10:30 PM. They told me that they had open lanes all night long and that I wouldn't need a reservation. We arrived about 7:45 PM and were told that all the lanes were currently full, but that it should only be about a 10-15 minute wait. No problem, we went over to the bar and got a drink or 4 before realizing that we had waited an hour. We went back to the desk and a different person told us that we could be waiting all night long as all of the bowlers had purchased the $13 per person all you can bowl package which allows you to bowl all night until 2 AM. Great deal for those who want to bowl all night for cheap, bad deal for those who don't get a lane early enough. We wish that the first person had told us this an hour ago and we didn't waste our time and money in this bowling alley's bar. We ended up going to our first choice alley which by this time had lanes available. read more

Great old-school style bowling alley. It's clean, it's well-maintained, the prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. I came with my dad and brother for some family fun times. We bowled two games and were pleasantly surprised to find out they were $3 each per person instead of the advertised $5 on weekends (fall special!). It's $3.50 for shoes. I'm a terrible bowler, but I enjoy it, and this is the sort of place I enjoy doing it in. The equipment is not new (the between-frame animations were from 1995) but it's clearly well-kept and doesn't look busted or run down at all. We didn't have any food or anything to drink, but I did peer at the bar menu; no craft beer here, but some decent drink specials. Typical fried food to eat in that regard. read more

Wow-wow-wee-waa! This place has made some great changes in the last few years! A little nerdy, lesser known fact about me: I bowl. Competitively. I bowled on a Saturday morning league here in my youth while my regular league was on hiatus. When I was in high school, we competed here regularly against Hinsdale Central, as this was their home lanes. Now, I'm back and bowling on a Monday night ladies league! In my youth, this place was pretty dumpy. Staff never really knew what was going on or how to fix things nor were they particularly friendly. Lanes were never oiled, the smell of smoke had settled in from years of use before the law went into effect, and it was not some place I chose to bowl regularly. I went back for the first time in probably 5 years to start my league. This place has made a TOTAL 180. First of all, the lanes are brand stinking new. They look great and they are regularly oiled. The backdrop is see through, allowing you to watch the pinsetters do their business. They got brunswick brand scorekeepers and graphics. They took away the ceiling and it has exposed wood which I think looks stellar. Apparently, they're having a pro-shop open up within the next few weeks, too! Only thing keeping me from 5 stars is that the staff seem to have not changed too much from the past. They were definitely more friendly, but still have a few kinks to work out before I throw a 5 star their way. In terms of food service, I had to wait over 5 minutes to get a pepsi that cost me $2. Might not seem too bad, but if you bowl on a league, you know how much this can throw everyone off. The new foodservice area is located away from the front desk so no one can see customers until a line is forming. In terms of service, I seemed to be the expert when there was a problem and had to help staff do a couple of things on the screens. No big though, those things can be tricky, and the majority of the kids behind the counter looked like they were in high school. read more

You can't want much else from a bowling alley. It's clean, they have free wifi, a large menu and a full bar. This will be my go-to. Most bowling alleys are gross but this actually was much better. It's bar food but again, not gross. The cheese sticks were out of a frozen bag but they came out hot and cheese was not hard and very elastic. The fries were crispy and the chicken fingers were good. They don't bring out plates or napkins with the food, which is somewhat annoying. We didn't wait at all on a Sunday morning around 11am. read more

This place is pretty cool. Plenty of lanes with tables for the bowlers and elevated tables for spectators. They have a snack shop where you can order pizza and other snacks & a full bar area. During the week they have an all you can bowl option for only $10 a person. If you're a bowler, you know what a steal that is! The lanes are clean, the workers are friendly & the beer is cold! Had my son's birthday party here a couple of years ago and wasn't impressed. A few weeks ago came back for his friend's birthday party and let's say not a whole lot was changed. Took 20+ minutes to get all the bowling shoes. Then when it was time to serve food, some kids didn't get theirs until the others were finished. They overserve alcohol at the bar to people who are obviously extremely intoxicated, both visibly and by behavior. I've been coming here a long time and have dealt with it before on several occasions. This time, however, I was confronted with the threat of a physical altercation accompanied by homophobic slurs and degrading (while extremely slurred) verbal threats. This bowling alley offers cheap bowling on reliable lanes. We go here frequently with our 8 and 5 year old because they offer a $9 all you can bowl special on the weekends. I planned a surprise birthday party for my husband's 30th birthday at Suburbanite. Justin helped me out from start to finish and helped me plan a wonderful party. The food was excellent and I was at ease knowing that everything was taken care of for me. We had many out of town guests who complemented the service and how the bowling alley looked and operated.
