The Corner restaurant is smack in the middle of Whiskey Row and you won't be disappointed when I tell they sell over 90 different bourbons. The interior is an eclectic mix of tables, chairs, sofas and seating nooks. Some of their space is shared with the Aloft Louisville Downtown hotel, a Marriott boutique hotel. We grabbed two seats at the bar and had two cocktails and two salads for lunch. Our drinks were a Pomegranate Mule ($13.00) with Pomegranate, ginger beer, vodka, and lime, and a regular Margarita. I had a Chicken Cobb Salad ($15.00) with chicken, romaine, deviled eggs, avocado, charred sweet corn, cherry tomato, radish, pickled onion, sunflower seeds, ranch, lemon drizzle. It was excellent, but the Deviled Eggs were missing and replaced by avocado slices. My traveling companion had a Classic Caesar ($13.00) with Romaine, Caesar dressing, parmesan croutons, and crispy kale. She added Chicken for a $6.00 upcharge. The Corner is "dog friendly" and we were thoroughly entertained by the antics of a Great Dane and Bulldog as they interacted. Our server was fantastic, and I'm sorry I missed her name, although I did take a few photos of her mixing and shaking some cocktails.

And that even includes when I said I was gluten-free and they used ingredients from the main pots to avoid cross contamination. I really appreciated that extra effort. The food is tasty, but I wish there were more options. Fresh ingredients and love the restaurant's rustic vibe.

And my Phantom of the Opera sandwich (pastrami, corned beef, chopped liver and cheese) is no longer on the menu board. Undaunted, I ordered a Pastrami Reuben for me and a turkey Reuben for my wife. Both sandwiches were boxed "to go" with just an accompanying pickle slice. No sides are included with these sandwiches , though I did appreciate the ability to order half sandwiches, as the Reuben was $17 and the Turkey Reuben was $11 for a full order. I recall being disappointed in the thick sliced pastrami from my last visit and was happy to see Stevens now slices more thin, to better "stack" the meat. The pastrami was well brined, with good flavor. But, as the photo shows, out of balance. Pastrami on one side, the kraut and dressing on the other side. So, you get a bite of meat or kraut and dressing if you chomp somewhere else. The sandwich was still warm by the time I got it home. My wife's turkey Reuben, was served with real roasted turkey, but on the dry side. Both sandwiches had sauerkraut & 1000 island dressing, just not enough to save the Turkey sandwich. Stevens makes a solid product. But I'm not sure it's significantly better than McAlisters or Jason's.
