Another solid meal from Troll Pub! With out-of-town family visiting, Troll is a uniquely Louisville experience. And clearly, Troll has stepped up their game. The beer cheese burger is a multi-napkin experience. Short of eating the burger with a fork & knife (sacrilegious, I know), it's gonna be a messy meal. The Reuben is getting close to perfection. Just a little less "butter" on the bread and the sandwich wouldn't be so greasy. But the pastrami was superb. And the sandwich had some "heft" to it. My chicken sub sandwich was packed with a grilled chicken breast, lettuce, tomato & mayo. It would have been excellent if the chicken breast was thoroughly cooked. It was thawed, but still cold in the center. All burgers & sandwiches come with hot and crisp fries or chips, if you prefer. And they do a great job with sweet potatoes fries. Service was excellent. Louie the Troll should be very pleased with himself.

Great tasting food and loved that it truly is in an old style pub! Staff was very friendly. Fun for my kids too with watching ESPN 8, the Ocho while waiting on our food.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This was an extremely cool pub![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Follow the Troll Pub signs from the main street and you won't miss the huge troll statue.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The pub was a lot bigger than you expect and the menu is extensive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The hot wings, beer and cheese bread dip, and chicken tenders were all great options and you can share them with a group.

Food was great, [[HIGHLIGHT]]atmosphere was cool[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Our waiter wasn't the greatest and didn't pay attention to our table at all. But overall recommend

Really gorgeous back-alley-like outdoor space, which felt private for our large group that only stayed for drinks We ordered at the bar and brought it outside, for a gorgeous afternoon time to drink with friends

This restaurant is near our hotel and we had to check it out! We went on Saturday night and it was pretty busy. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The place is big and I have no idea how many tables there are, but our service was good and pretty quick. The menu is pretty much pub food - fish and chips, burgers, sandwiches, etc. There were a number of things that sounded good! We both liked our meals! As far as ambiance - not much! It's under street level so there's no natural light. It got loud before we left because of a large table seated near us, but other than that it wasn't super loud. I'd go back!

We recently ate at the Troll Pub before a concert. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were asked if we wanted bar seating or dining and we chose dining, thinking it would be a little quieter. We were wrong!! There was a group of 8-10 older teens, a few of drinking age, who were beyond loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I understand they were having a good time but in a small, enclosed area it's very loud!! Despite the noisy environment our food was good and service was decent for only one person taking care of our whole area. She did great and thanked us for our patience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I think next time I'll just stick with the bar area![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Interesting location & atmosphere. Loved the huge troll![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Must go down steps to enter restaurant so might not be a good choice if walking was a challenge.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordered to go & efficient service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is close to the convention center so it probably gets very busy during the week.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordered Fleur dip with fires & Grilled chicken sandwich with side salad. Both meals were fine & traveled well. Sandwiches were huge & prepared as detailed in description. If we had more time would have enjoyed eating there & hope to pop back in when visiting Louisville in the future.

Greta experience here!! We were here for several hours- drinks and apps, then meal, and then another round of drinks. We camped out here watching a game before heading over to Yum center for a concert. Service was great and food was delicious! Really good loaded fries app.

Ask the Community - Troll Pub Under the Bridge

    Do they deliver?

    Sorry. Troll does not deliver.

Do they allow dogs on the patio?

Looking for the same info! Hoping to find out!

Is the kitchen open until close?

I don't think so. I feel like I've went late before and the kitchen was closing like an hour or so before but the bar was still open.

Any gluten free food options other than salad?

I did not see any on the menu.

    What time does dinner start?

    About 5

Is the Angry Alfredo any good; if so how spicy is it?

I haven't had that there yet. Sorry!

Is there room for large parties? 25 or so on a Saturday night is a lot to ask

Yes. There is space, but I am sure you would have to call ahead to arrange it.

Is it really underground? Because I'm going to Kentucky tomorrow and on Monday I'll be eating there for lunch so I would also like to know is it a good place to eat at.

Yes, it's in a basement. Awesome atmosphere. Great service, especially at the bar. Lotsa fun cocktails. And food's good.

Kylie was our bartender and she was fabulous - knowledgeable, friendly, and answered all of our questions with patience. Wife ordered a mango margarita and doesn't like a lot of tequila, so Kylie went half and gave her a shot on the side in case she wanted to add more. It was wonderful. I had a couple of beers. We started with the fried mushrooms, which aren't what you would expect. It's two large portobellos cut into chunks, battered, fried, and served with sun-dried tomato mayo. They were great. I then ordered a duck taco, brisket taco, and a side of Grippo Fries with smoked mayo. I'd never tried duck but that taco was smack-a-lackin'. The brisket taco was also good, and the fries were fantastic - sweet and spicy, fresh cut, and crispy. Wife ordered a pork belly slider and truffle fries. She enjoyed the slider but didn't care for the fries - just not her thing. The portions here are large. A side of fries will feed three people. We took a hefty portion of them home, as well as some of the mushrooms. We could've sat there at the bar and spent 3 hours socializing and enjoying a smattering of cocktails - love the setting. Look forward to going back and trying one of the burgers at some point.

We dropped in on Oaks night and even though it was pretty busy we were able to grab two seats at the bar. The only downfall of this was the time of day and the position of the Sun blaring through the garage door windows blasting me in the face however that cannot be helped or avoided, just a heads up for anyone who is super sensitive to the sun and arrives around sunset. I started with a Sunset Spritz and looked over the menu, there are so many great options to choose from and I was really torn on what to get but decided on the blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich (you can also get grilled or fried, but the bartender recommended blackened) and an order of sweet potato fries. The fries come with a side of a smoky pineapple chutney of some sort and even though I'm not a huge fan of anything that's really smoky it was absolutely delicious and a great combo. Seriously 10/10 recommend. The sandwich was also fire! I am extremely picky about sea food, especially since I used to live near the cost so it was always fresh and it definitely did not disappoint. I was so full when we left lol My husband got the beef sliders as his entrée with a side of regular fries tossed in roasted garlic pepper. I tried them and they were just OK. The sweet potato fries are definitely where it's at! I am really looking forward to going back and trying out some new items like the Cheeseburger Hand pies, Chicken tenders or one of their boozy milkshakes ... it sounds delicious doesn't it!

We ordered a variety of meals. 2 chicken strips and fries, one grilled chicken strips and fries. A second order of grilled chicken with loaded sweet potatoes fries. And Lastly, a ground beef loaded nacho. The chicken was extremely dry and the nachos were so greasy. I know, we went to a burger place and nobody ordered a burger... maybe a bad move on our part. Also, every small sauce was $1 and you receive about an ounce. I was a bit surprised when I got the bill and none of the chicken came with any sauce. In all, It's cute enough and in a great location. I will go back to try a burger.... But based on our experience yesterday, I'd pass on the chicken.

Four of us had an excellent experience for our dinner in Louisville, and besides the food, a lot of that experience was due to our server, Julie. She was great, super friendly and professional, and expertly answered a ton of Bourbon-related questions from my Bourbon loving friend. My wife and I dove into the Southern theme and had a Pulled Pork Sandwich ($16), Southern Colada ($16), Fried Green Tomatoes ($10), and a Southern Gumbo ($10) for dinner. I ordered the Fried Gren Tomatoes to share with the table, and they were wonderful - "Five full moon green tomatoes fried in cornmeal and panko, topped with fresh chives and served with Doc's Remoulade". They were light as a feather, most definitely non-greasy and had a great crunch from the panko and cornmeal. My Southern Gumbo (A hearty stew filled with andouille sausage, chicken and vegetables in savory Cajun broth served over rice. Served with cornbread) was excellent. Great flavor, great spice, plenty of sausage and chicken, and excellent accompaniments in the rice and cornbread. And how could I not mention my Southern Colada, with Michter's US*1 Sour Mash, Pineapple Juice & Coconut. It was quite a bit stronger than any Colada I ever had, but I guess that can be expected when you use an 86-proof small batch Kentucky whiskey in your Colada. Of course, I loved it. This was our second visit to Doc Crow. We were there a few days ago as the first stop on our Louisville food tour and enjoyed a delicious bowl of shrimp and grits. The Doc sure treated us well. I don't know if this is a thing they do at Doc Crow's, but in my opinion the bartender excessively kept asking me what I wanted even while I was still looking at the menu. This definitely frustrated me since it was clear that I wasn't ready yet. I think she should have done a better job reading my cues to figure out when I am ready to order.
