Locally owned... decent food... eclectic menu and reasonable prices. You can eat in the restaurant proper or downstairs in the quirky bar, the Hereafter as we did. Good smash burger and really good smoked chicken sandwich.

Super cool newer spot in downtown Louisville. Eclectic, fun and funky interior decor in a brick building that must be a good 150 years old or more. The guy at the register was outgoing and personable, taking good care of everyone coming in, even during an influx of visitors in town for PGA. He was cool, collected and even handed out a few free beer samples for those waiting. I ordered a sandwich which was a PBR braised roast beef with peppers & onions and provolone. No joke I'm still thinking about it 3 days later, it was that good. My wife had the Spam Risk sandwich which was griddled Spam, a fried egg, cheese and bourbon bacon jam. Her new favorite. Honestly, we're local and rarely come downtown as a destination, but this spot was excellent and worth the return trip. Not to mention we're also newly converted fans of their speakeasy downstairs - The Hereafter. Couldn't be happier, for real.

Great lunch specials! Max was super sweet and told me that the bread and sausages are local. Only taking away a star because I had to go downstairs for the bathroom.

Cool ambiance, but the food was fully mediocre. Cheapest chips and the dips were all a little off.

In town from Minnesota and stumbled onto this gem. Great experience and food. The pizza was amazing and the decor was super cool.

Could have gone downstairs ( Hereafter) to eat, where we were drinking last night--cool vibe.

Marvelous atmosphere with an interconnected beer garden in the middle. Stunning food offers that shine on their own and sing louder when paired with their beers. The team at holy grale also bring it all together with incredible service. The burger is incredible, but I always come back for the schnitzel platter. I only wish they had a spaetzle to go with it! The fries are proper chippies, thick square cut and long. Crispy outside, fluffy inside. And there are so many dips to choose from. Salads are crisp and light and a marvelous side. I cannot say enough good things. I love the grales.

We had a couple cocktails in here and the service was excellent even though it appeared they were filled to capacity. There were 4 of us in our party and we were seated at a table in the corner near the bar. Was definitely a cozy spot with so many people being in there and the bar being full. I had The Holy Ghost cocktail and it was a pomegranate hibiscus sour, it had just the right amount of sour! I do not like bitter drinks and this one was good and easy to drink. My husband had a couple of dark beers, I do not remember which ones but he liked them. They had a nice outdoor area but it was a bit too cool for that but it may be worth a return in the Spring to check it out. Bathroom was also really cool as the decor and theme spilled over into it. We will be back.

Their beer is fun, innovative and isn't afraid to explore. Although it may not be groundbreaking but making good beer doesn't always have to be. Even if beer isn't your jam I highly recommend stopping in and tasting the menu that Chef Kathryn Fink has created and Everytime I'm here there's always something new to try be it a weekly special or the ever changing menu. The smoked whitefish pate is outstanding and always a great starter. The look and feel of Monnik always reminds me of a cottage in the mountains and after spending time inside it's so easy to get lost and forget where you're at. As for the service it's always top notch and helpful. I've spent countless hours at the bar asking about different styles of beer and what makes them special. The best part about it is it never feels judgmental or pretentious just good service done the right way. Hats off to you all. Cheers.

I don't think this needs to be even called a gyro, because it's not. The brussels sprouts were okay value-wise for $5 as an added side, but not anything to write home about. The waitress we had was friendly and attentive, but Monnik has lost its edge over the years. One star for the food, added a star back because the waitress was nice and offered good service. Beer options are still good though, after all these years I've been going here. I don't think I will be back again.

I also love the corners with comfy couches and chairs. Plenty of beer to enjoy plus a few slushies - although those are so sweet that I'm not a fan. You can bring in your own food or order delivery from a few spots in the Gaslight District. I especially appreciate it's a family friendly space because my sons are teens. It was so much fun to enjoy music bingo with them while eating pizza from Parlour. Outdoor seating as well - lots of it. Easy street parking. Quick service. Follow them on social to keep up with their events. I'm going to start suggesting this space for more meet ups with friends.

They had a ton of beers, but we opted for the slushies -- the Pineapple one was hot weather perfection, and the other was so incredibly strong i couldn't finish it. I also ordered an Old fashioned, and it was an ultimate concoction with a giant rock of ice. You know an Old fashioned will be good when they don't serve it with chipped ice. We hung out for a few hours and played cards, and the bartenders were friendly and accommodating. I wish this place was closer to us cause we would be regulars! At the very least, we will return in cooler weather to enjoy the outside patio.
