Terrible place. Home sick with kids and flu. Decided to get some food. Couldn't get a single part of our order right. Terrible.

Love the area, quintessential New England Country charm. As a pescatarian, I was happy to find several menu options! Yay! The service was fantastic from start to finish. The food was above average, and the prices felt fair for the quality and atmosphere. The only thing that stood out to me--and this may sound a little unusual--was the clientele. We were by far the youngest diners there. Curious, I asked the staff if that was typical, and they said it was. That said, if you're looking for a quiet, relaxed dining experience with great service, fair prices, and a pleasant setting, this restaurant is worth a visit. Also, I was told that they have live music on certain nights during the week. Not sure what kind of music it would be, my guess would be Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra. Lol.

Each Happy Meal is a looonnnnggg process to order. First, do you want a toy? What kind. Is it a hamburger, cheeseburger or nuggets? Do you want pickles, mustard, ketchup, onion, etc? What to drink - there are many options, and so on. I had to go through this three times. Which is great for the kid. It just felt like I stood in front of that kiosk for eeevvveeerrrr. I know, first world problems. Not a big deal. Just know that is how the ordering is done. If you have the app, you can order that way too of course. Paid by credit card at the kiosk, took a table tent located by the kiosk as directed and found a seat. The drive thru here was very busy the entire length of our visit. We parked and walked across the driveway to the building. As it's a busy road the cars enter the lot at a pretty good clip. Be sure you have the littles by the hand and the drivers see you before crossing. There is no cross walk on the property. There are a few parking spots for drive thru customers who have to wait for an item. One wheelchair accessible table is located inside the dining room. The kiosk however is not at a height someone in a wheelchair could access although the cashier counter is low. I don't remember a wheel chair button to enter the building or the restroom. There are a good number of tables of various party sizes available. As we had kids, of course they wanted to each sit at their own table. So sure, the dining room was mostly empty. Have at it. There are a number of tables for two along one wall and that worked well. Soda machines, cup lids, straws, ketchup packets and napkins are along the wall by the cash register. Cups were brought to us by a staff member and our meals were delivered by another staff member. They were friendly and smiling. One child ordered orange juice which arrived in a lidded cup. Another ordered chocolate milk which comes in a sealed plastic container. The third ordered a soda so we went with them to the soda area to fill the cup and we grabbed some napkins. Napkins were also included inside the Happy Meal box. There is no 'play area' here if you are wondering. I did not notice if they have wi-fi. Sorry. Everyone was happy with their meal. Sandwiches were made as ordered. Kids were happy with their toy. Dining area and rest rooms are clean. A successful visit.

We got up to the first window and the man working did not say a word at all and I actually had to be the one to ASK what my total was. No hello, how are you, have a good day, not a SINGLE word. We then got up to the second window and were told to park in Spot 3 to wait for our cookies. I looked ahead and saw spot 1 & 2 but come to find out spot 3 was being completely blocked by a semi truck. I was confused as to where to park so i kindly asked where spot 3 was, SINCE I COULD NOT SEE IT. and the young african american woman working laughed at me and rudely implied "right there in front of your eyes" she laughed not once, not twice but three times alongside ANOTHER young male who was also laughing at us. I could not believe my eyes. Still I gave complete respect. I, myself work in customer service every day of my life and if ANY of my coworkers acted like the way these kids did today, i would have them fired immediately. If you want to be absolutely humiliated and disrespected, come to this Mcdonald's.

During the…read morewarmer months, we might take a to-go order and eat it on the 'town green' nearby for a picnic lunch. I love these older New England town greens. It seems like the drive thru line is always veerrrryyy long. I just walk inside. Why idle my engine for twenty minutes (or whatever) to pick up a meal. Inside I'm usually first or second in line and have my food in minutes. The entrance situation on this building is odd. You really can not see it. Located on the side of the building, facing the main road, you have to cross through the drive-thru line of cars (or park on the left side of the building), follow the sidewalk toward the drive-thru, bear left and then look to your left to see the door. We placed a rather large (seven people) on-line order over the summer and they did manage to forget an item, so I get how that process needs to improve at this location. We also got an item that was not 'ours' in that order. Perhaps a case of 'wrong bag' in a busy kitchen? Whatever, the person without a burger was unimpressed as was the person who paid for the sandwich. Figuring out how to stop this madness definitely needs to happen. When we order inside for just a person or two, they do 'get it right'. There are napkins, straws and a couple other items located in an area just past the cashier. Whether you are dining-in, or taking-out, you need to grab your own items from this area. The staff are pleasant even if not the most interactive. Last visit I had their fish value meal. I must say, this fish is good. The outside is surprisingly crispy, you can really taste the cheese on there, nice bun and it was well constructed (as in, everything lined up, my cheese wasn't half off the patty for example). I will definitely get this fish sandwich any day ahead of some other fast food option. Way better texture and taste. I like Wendy's and am glad I have this option. On days I need to 'chew and screw' this is my preferred option.

The patties were thick, juicy, and packed with flavor - exactly what you'd hope for from a historic Connecticut drive-in like Harry's Place. The fries were perfectly crispy and seasoned, making the whole meal a standout. This place has been around for over 100 years for a reason. Great portions, no-frills deliciousness, and that old-school vibe. If you're craving a solid burger and fries (or their famous clams/hot dogs), this is the spot. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area! Highly recommend - 10/10 on the burger front.

This is kind of weird. I don't think this is a New England thing or a Connecticut thing. Had I known there was mustard and relish at a condiment counter around the corner, I would've just got a plain dog. The place gets busy for lunch and there's only one order taker. So the line can get out of that testy, especially if you're in a hurry. I know many say this is an institution and I shouldn't be speaking negatively about it, but it is what it is it's overrated. Yes it's been around for a long time, but it's super expensive for a hot dog and milkshake. I see no value here. I should've went up and around the corner to that bar that serves those really great lobster rolls. Colchester is a beautiful town, with many wonderful choices for a place to eat. I don't think this is one of them.
