Good food, nice space, pricy but ample portions Came here on a recommendation of a relative. The space is a well decorated old home with all the quintessential New England charm one would expect. We sat outside to enjoy the good weather and enjoy the extensive patio. Our server was very friendly and professional. We opted for the blueberry salad, the mussels, the Gorgonzola bread and the watermelon gazpacho. Food was paced well, we jumped into the gazpacho first. It was like a watermelon salsa. The sweetness of the watermelon worked well with the funk of the onion and tomato. There was a light oil used to give the soup a better texture but it was used sparingly and wasn't greasy. It was a well balanced bite but not really a soup. The mussels were small but cooked well. The bread was crusted on one side and soft but crispy. The white wine broth was briny, rich and seasoned well. A good broth for dipping, which matched well with the bread pieces. The best bite was the Gorgonzola bread. Soft, tender crumb with a healthy amount of broiled cheese on top. Bread was pre-sliced but also was provided a knife just in case. Combined with the mussel broth, made a great bite even better. The salad was good but lacking. The salad was dressed well, blueberries were in season but missed the punch wild blueberries tend to have. The walnuts were candied locally and were lightly crisped rather than entombed in sugar like other places. The salmon add-on was seasoned well and grilled well. It was kind of plain in presentation, kind of pushed to the side of the plate with abandon. The dessert menu was extensive, along with their specials. I opted for the chocolate chip cookie warmed. It was a reasonable cookie for the price. Was a little overworked so it would've been hard if not warmed, but as a warm cookie it was good. The missus opted for the strawberry shortcake, and she enjoyed the single bite she managed to get before we got swarmed by the local bee population. The patio is very pretty, lots of flowers but also lots of bees. They had a tendency to swarm any sweet dish that came out, so it may be wise to either take dessert inside or to go if you can. Insect swarm aside, the food was great but pricy. The dishes coming out to about 70. The quality was good, the portions are large, but the price reflects that. Its really good though, so if you're in the area this place is a great spot for a nice meal in a very nice location

What a lovely eatery!! Located in a quiet country locale- this family owned restaurant was absolutely delicious and worth a drive. Staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The outdoor patio was a perfect setting for a gorgeous summer afternoon. (There were some bees - but it's summer). The food itself was delicious and I cannot wait to go back and try more. We started with the mussels and Gorgonzola bread. And the bread dipped in the mussel sauce was the best bite. The salad with salmon add-on was flavorful without being overdressed. A perfect light lunch option. Well done and keep up the good eats!!

Excellent spitfire smart witty knowledgeable and warm service. That hits first and lasts. Started with lentil soups with ham. Excellent consistency and taste. Felt like mom's home cooking. Smart portions. It's an app. Came with raisin and sunflower bread slices that they bake at the restaurant!!! & butter. 2 entrees: New York strip steak with vegetables - very good quality of meat, interesting mashed turnip. Maple Glazed salmon filet - OKAY that was insane. Mashed sweet potatoes with bacon and some veggies. Insane dish. Shared a honeyspot IPA which we loved and a raspberry bar w a coffee in the end. That raspberry bar man that raspberry bar. Overall the space inside feels like an old but clean home. We liked the emphasis on rustic. Not super thrilled with the children's clothes on hangers. We will come back for the outside space which doesn't have any children's clothes hanging around yet.

Stopped in for dinner and got to meet the owner. A very nice gentleman and wants to make sure your experience in his restaurant is a great one. And last nights meal was! Started with a basket of bread to the table, their incredible raisin bread and seeded bread slices. Plenty of butter was provided as well. We ordered the chicken pot pie, extra splash of milk on top with sugar sprinkled over the top (a memory from childhood) and the rib eye dinner special. Also got the corn chowder which was a soup of the day. The chowder was good with a light broth with enough corn and potatoes so it wasn't overwhelming with vegetables. The pot pie came out as ordered with the sprinkle king of sugar making the crust a little crunchier. Plenty of chicken and vegetables were under the crispy crust. This is a large portion so some came home for another meal. This has optional potatoes but we didn't include them with this entree. The rib eye was requested medium rare and it couldn't have been cooked any better. Nicely seasoned and grilled to perfection giving it a good char taste to it. Dish comes with mashed potatoes, whipped butternut squash, and steamed vegetables are also included but left those off the order. Portions, again, are very large so you won't come away hungry. Service was excellent as well with our server being very helpful and attentive. The restaurant gives the feel of a public house that you might find back in colonial times. Tables and chairs continue that them thru the restaurant. They also offer loads of breads to take home and various sweets from cookies to cake slices. Definitely will be going back to enjoy the food again.

I remember restaurants as a vegetarian in the 90s, picking my way across a wasteland of meat. "Please not pasta primavera or a giant portobello mushroom," I would silently plead while scanning the menu. I felt a thunderclap of childhood when I entered Sadler's, and not just because of the dowdy farmhouse-rustic decor. Huge portions (everybody gets a doggie bag!) Friendly "hey guys!" waitstaff. You wanna wash that steak down with a beer pal? OK I see this isn't my scene. It took me three perusals of the menu to confirm that, yes, a restaurant in 2023 has one (1) vegetarian entree. "You could have gotten a salad," my sister bickered, and now we're back in the 90s again. There are three entrees with shrimp, three with salmon, and three different steak or chicken entrees, but only eggplant rollatini if you're not at least a pescatarian. Well, fine, I wouldn't know what to do with too much choice anyway, as long as the eggplant was any good. But it was heavily fried, drenched in ricotta, and served atop overboiled angel hair. Luckily I have a soft spot for jarred pasta sauce and capellini, the first vegetarian dish I learned to cook back in 2001, so I ignored the eggplant and slurped that up instead. And once again, it's my childhood again. So Sadler's beats on, boat against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

October Fest in the sunshine...on the patio! We stopped for an unplanned lunch here and really enjoyed our day. I started with a Choppe Blondie beer and then attacked an Oktober Fest special of a Weisswurst Reuben complete with sauerkraut, cheese and super mustard [veal sausage]. This came with warm German Potato salad and a giant pickle. Was that ever filling. Dessert was a decadent Pumpkin Mousse with a slab of whipped cream. The only downer was the yellow jackets flying around and getting our food. They were getting a large crowd but the service was swift. Found out later that a neighbor had been eating at another table as she related that to me later that afternoon. I guess I was too engaged with my food to do any people watching.

Sadler's Ordinary is an American tavern-style restaurant that opened in Marlborough, Connecticut in 1978. It has been owned by chef Kevin Haggerty since 1994. The restaurant takes its name from John Sadler: a 17th century Englishman who owned an "ordinary" (or tavern) on the same spot of land as the current establishment. Marlborough was a popular stop along the trade route between Hartford and New London, and several travelers would stop at Sadler's ordinary for a hearty meal and a place to rest. Haggerty does his best to continue the traditions started by Mr. Sadler centuries ago. The menu features steak, seafood and pasta dishes as well as classic comfort food dishes such as chicken pot pie, meatloaf and Beef Wellington. My wife, son and I recently dined at Sadler's while we were staying in the area. We had rented out a lake house in nearby Hebron for the long Presidents' Day weekend. The restaurant is inside a barn-like structure with all sorts of classic country decor such as lanterns, old farm baskets, and pewter candleholders. The focal point is the large dining room centered by a two-sided stone fireplace. To drink, I ordered Sierra Nevada Brewing's "Hazy Little Thing" IPA. The complimentary bread basket had some yummy fresh baked country bread slices. For our entrees, I ordered the "Pistachio Crusted Rainbow Trout" (with citrus sauce, wild rice, steamed veggies and mashed sweet potatoes), my wife ordered the "Chicken Pot Pie" (with mashed potatoes), and our son had the Cheeseburger (with potato chips and a cookie) from the Kid's Menu. We all enjoyed our food as well as the classic country vibe. We would definitely stop by again!

The condiments I think could have been made standard by default in my opinion. Maybe they are and I just paid for something else?? The monster fries were awesome, but my stomach isn't good at spices, so could we have a non-spice version? And finally the drink; a large cup of black diet Coke; yum! The packaging was excellent, love the bag! The only semi negative I have is that the burger just isn't big enough. You are competing with all the major brands. I think with the current flavor you will do well, but you must increase the size of the burger by 25-50%, example Whopper size. Also, loose the plastic containers. Its a great feature but people like me are expecting the burger to be wrapped up in a branded aluminum paper; i.e.. old school. But the definite negative for me is: Why is Grub Hub so darn expensive? Is that because of you or the company? I've really never used it until today. I must say, $35.00 for a burger and fries is highway robbery!

Once again, a new burger joint has sprung up in my area, so I had to give them a go…read more As a Mr.Beast fanboy, I will admit I can be a bit biased. But fanboying aside, as a burger place it's pretty decent. Price is reasonable, burgers are flavorful and the fries have a good amount of spice. The pickles are fresh, the bun is soft and grilled to give a little crispness. The flavors are good and the burger was cooked properly. The negatives were the large amount of white onions, the fake cheese congealed due to delayed delivery, and I ordered beast style fries but only got seasoned fries. Also not a fan of delivery only, which doubled the price of the order. As a new place, some hiccups are to be expected. It's a solid burger, with some good flavors on offer. Would love a pickup option, burger would probably be awesome fresh off the griddle. Not bad, but there's some wrinkles to iron out
