The Biscuit Express - Bacon egg cheese biscuit

The Biscuit Express also exists as at least one (maybe two?) drive through restaurants, which predated this trailer. The one I'm thinking of is more out Moore's Mill way. There are picnic tables and a small shaded boxcar if you want to stay and eat, but I got my order to go. I visited a few weekends ago to get a brunch treat for me and my husband after I had an early work shift. I've always wanted to try the Moore's Mill location but am not usually in that area until it's too late in the afternoon and the business has closed. The menu has breakfast and lunch options. Biscuits and biscuit sandwiches are obviously the stars here, but they do have things like hamburgers and patty melts. They also offer trendy dirty sodas. Prices are quite reasonable for the portion sizes and quality of food. I got us both bacon egg and cheese biscuits and a large tater tots to share. As a newly converted dirty soda fan, I also got myself the "Hey Girl Hey," which is Coke (or Diet Coke) with coconut, pineapple, and cream. Despite being fairly busy, my food came out fresh, hot, and quickly. The gentleman manning the cash register was pleasant and clearly in a good mood. It was a nice experience overall. The biscuit sandwiches were the star of the show, as I imagine they should be. The biscuit was fluffy and buttery, maybe a little on the crumbly side but overall a really good biscuit. The eggs and bacon were both cooked well, and the bacon was AMPLE -- definitely a hearty breakfast sandwich. The cheese was also melted nicely. I liked the tater tots better than hubs. There was a seasoning on them that lent a very slightly sweet flavor on top of the standard saltiness. I didn't mind it but he wasn't crazy about it. They were crispy, plentiful, and went well with ketchup. The dirty soda was a bit of a disappointment. It was overloaded with cream and didn't have much pineapple flavor, which was a shame as that's kind of unique for Coke-based dirty sodas. Additionally, the Coke itself just tasted a little off, as though the syrup to carbonated water ratio wasn't quite right. I wouldn't order it again; I might try a different concoction in the future though. Overall, dirty soda aside, I was pretty happy with my experience here! It's nice to have a locally owned breakfast spot that's open early and serves hot food fast and with a smile. I imagine I'll be back!

This was great and a steal! Only $2.20 per egg biscuit so I got 3 and lasted me all day! Cool…read moretrain car dining area.

Service was quick and cheerful from all the staff. I had the fried catfish, baby lima beans, fried okra, and hush puppies. Spouse had shrimp basket, hush puppies, and homemade potato chips. As you can see, multiple fried foods. Fried okra is how I test "country" cooking. This was the best fried okra I have had in years. The catfish, shrimp and hush puppies were all excellent. It seems like they use a very light oil, but however, they do it the results are crunchy, non-greasy and bring out the flavor of the food. The way frying is meant to do. Very light breading but just enough. The baby lima beans were excellent. So many times I've had side orders that tasted just like they were scooped out of a 5 gallon can of Sysco product. I could be wrong, maybe it was the very very mild seasoning, but these did not seem commercial. A few caveats. There was a single catfish fillet and it was quite small. I recall getting the catfish fillet meal at the old Gibson's on the Parkway before it burned down. Two large fillets. But actually they could not compare to this. Hush puppies were excellent, I like more onions in them. But that's my preference. But for me, this does not takeoff from the overall five star rating, which I rarely give on a first visit. If you like country food, by all means go here. We will be back.

If you are headed south, they are on the left side of the road. We stopped by today to pick up cheesesteaks from Cap's. This restaurant is takeout only. When we walked inside I saw Miss T and she was smiling. I have told you these are the BEST CHEESESTEAKS in Alabama. I have tried several here in Alabama and Cap's is the BEST. We paid and went outside. Miss T delivered our food quickly. It was great to see her looking so well. Dave ordered two steak philly cheesesteaks. I decided to try a chicken philly. Actually a chicken bacon ranch philly cheesesteak. We got an order of fries too! The steak philly cheesesteaks with provolone are delicious and very satisfying. The soft bread from up north is a wonderful contrast paired with the delicious steak and onions. Absolutely the best! 5/5 The fries were seasoned well. I like that Miss T puts ketchup in the takeout container. Delicious fries and ketchup 5/5 My chicken bacon ranch philly did not disappoint. The meat was deliciously seasoned as only Cap's can do. I added the bacon and ranch to a bite and it was good. I like the chicken and steak philly cheesesteaks the original way Cap's makes them. The bacon and ranch are right up Dave's alley so he enjoyed them. My chicken philly was 5/5. Please support this locally owned business. Cap and Miss T will treat you right. The cheesesteaks truly are the BEST in this area!!! 5/5

Jefferson's is a small, I'd say regional chain that seems to have a tendency to pop up in areas without a ton of dining options; there are locations in places such as Winchester, TN and Scottsboro, AL. Given this pattern, it's a logical addition to Hampton Cove, which has historically had a huge dearth of restaurants despite the population density and relative affluence of the area. We (me, hubs, sis-in-law, and her husband) came for lunch on a hot Saturday afternoon about two weeks ago. There were a few other people eating in at the time but they weren't crazy busy. We were seated quickly by our waitress, Shawna, who was great! They have a fairly large menu with a lot of American bar food favorites. Lots of appetizers (buffalo chicken dip, fried mushrooms and pickles, etc). For main entrees, they have wings, burgers, chicken, and somewhat weirdly...oysters? Not going there personally but it is an option! The atmosphere is basic sports bar, but it's clean and airy. There's a lot of seating and they seem to do a brisk carryout business too! BIL had apparently been craving a root beer float and was surprised to see it offered here as a summertime special. He and SIL both got one and declared it very tasty! We also got an appetizer of pretzel bites for everyone to share. The bites were incredibly hot and fresh, and served with beer cheese and "sassy sauce" that was a little like a sweeter honey mustard. We enjoyed them! Everyone except for me had wings (2 bone-in, 1 boneless order) and fries or tater tots. Resoundingly happy all around! My husband did wish he could split the flavors on his wings, but you have to get a really large order (I wanna say like 12+??) to do that, so he settled on one flavor. I had chicken tenders and fries and also enjoyed them! The tenders were very large and quite meaty. The breading could've used a tiny bit more salt or seasoning, but they went well dipped in the creamy ranch. Shawna was a highlight of our experience; without asking, she brought BIL more root beer for his float when he quickly drained the liquid part of it, allowed us to keep the queso and sassy sauce from the appetizer to dip our entree fries in, and was very prompt and patient getting extra sauces and refills as needed. Shout out to Shawna! Will definitely return to try more appetizers or get some yummy bar food or watch a game. Thanks for a positive first experience!

But the real winner was the basket of perfectly cooked (blubber-free) wings with zesty flavor! I have driven by this tidy little bar & burger joint at least a hundred times in the past few years but until two Saturdays ago, the opportunity to check out Perfect Timing just didn't fit perfectly into my schedule. But on that day, I needed to deliver some stuff to my son when both of us were pressed for time and fairly hungry. Perfect Timing is located roughly halfway between our houses, so it turns out that Perfect Timing was the perfect place too. We were the second customers in the place at 11:30 am. Waitress was super friendly & helped us sort through the innovative combos on the burger menu. We took our seats at a hightop table and sipped our draft beers -- at a perfect price ($5 for a Miller Lite) -- and watched the cook in the back as he prepped our custom-made burgers. No frozen prefab factory burgers here, folks, just honest-to-goodness primo ground beef and fresh ingredients. We also ordered a basket of wings with varying toppings. The wings came out to the table first and we thoroughly enjoyed them. FINALLY, a restaurant that gets it right with wings: crispy on the breading and tender on the inside, sizzling with flavor! The wings were fantastic! About that time, we could hear rumbling in the parking lot. Not your typical thunderstorm as I had first assumed, but a couple dozen assorted Harleys and road trikes rolling in for a charity ride to help a neighbor struggling with health issues. In the space of about 15 minutes, some thirty adults and kids (this was mostly a family biker group) breezed through the place, displaying a level of polite respect and good manners that would make Emily Post proud. After everyone had finished snacks, drinks and restroom, they hopped on their bikes and headed out. Talk about perfect timing again! We finished our lunch and agreed that when it comes to enjoying a terrific burger in a simple setting, Perfect Timing is the perfect place.

This is a great food truck from the same folks as Fire and Spice (both the truck and the…read morerestaurant). This truck focuses on sandwiches, wraps, and burgers, often with some sort of decadent or spicy twist. I'm a big fan mostly for their burger: two patties with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes (though I ask for these to be taken off), bacon, and their heavenly sauce, which to my tastes is reminiscent of a really good fry sauce. It's a fairly traditional burger but executed super well. The patties are a great thickness for me - maybe a bit thinner than a standard Five Guys burger - and since there's two of them it's a pretty filling meal on its own. The service has always been polite and helpful, and the food usually comes out quickly even when the truck is pretty busy. They park on the Arsenal sometimes and are working on perfecting their online ordering system to further improve wait times. My one complaint is the price/size of the fry portion. I always like to have fries with my burger, even when the burger is really big lol. You can get an order added on to your sandwich for an extra charge. Personally, I think $3 is high for the pretty small serving size they offer. I'd ideally like to have more fries OR the same amount at a lower price; either would be okay. The fries themselves are pretty good; you can get different seasonings on them and for an extra dollar can add a cup of their yummy fry sauce. The burger is legit, though, y'all -- probably my #2 or #3 favorite burger in Huntsville, depending on my mood. If they're close to me, I'll pretty reliably seek them out for a tasty meal. They're very good about posting their schedule for the week on social media, so it's easy to hunt them down.
