I loved my sandwich today at lunch. No frills, old school, hole in the wall type of place. I have found me a new lunch spot while in town working. I love a good sandwich and it all starts with the bread...!!! The bread here is homemade and on point as far as I'm concerned. I got the Kitchen Sink and it was fabulous. All ingredients were good but the bread is where it all starts. Very tasty sandwich in a very laid back place. Good job.

#vegetarian. I recently visited Stanlieo's Sub Villa for the second time--my first visit was about 10 years ago. This time, I ordered the Vegetarian Combo Sandwich to go, which includes veggie turkey, corned beef, wham, and chicken. I was genuinely looking forward to it, especially after hearing so many rave reviews over the years from folks in Huntsville and Oakwood University alumni. Unfortunately, my experience was a major letdown. When I got home to Atlanta and unwrapped the sandwich, I was shocked. The bread was torn and falling apart, and there were no condiments included--none on the sandwich and none in the bag. No one asked if I wanted any, and I had no idea I needed to request them. The only addition was a small portion cup of diced tomatoes and diced pickles... which did very little to help the situation. To make matters worse, the sandwich cost $21.26 for two--and honestly, I've had far better subs for much less. Given the price and all the hype, I expected something that at least held together and had some flavor. I know Stanlieo's has a strong reputation in the Huntsville community, but based on this experience, I just don't get the hype. Sadly, this was one of the worst sub sandwiches I've ever purchased. Come on, Stanlieo's--people are rooting for you. But at these prices, customers deserve quality and attention to detail. Until then, you all might be better off just heading to Subway. To be fair, the ambience is fine. The place has been around for a while, and it carries a retro charm that likely appeals to those with fond memories of visiting over the years. It still looks much like it probably did when it first opened, and I imagine that sense of nostalgia is part of its lasting appeal. But for me, nostalgia just wasn't enough to make up for the lackluster food quality.

Ruben sandwich. No cheese, little meat, lots of pickles, and thousand island dressing.

My sandwich didn't look like the picture. I never thought anyone couldn't make a simple Ruben sandwich. Customer service was great.

I wavered on a 3 or 4 star ranking here, but settled on a 4 because I truly think that I just ordered the wrong thing for me. I'll be back to try something more to my liking and will update accordingly! That being said, I came by on Monday to grab some lunch. I saw a lot of reviewers saying they didn't think this place seemed clean, and let me just say that wasn't my impression at all. It's definitely kind of a hole in the wall, and older, but that's NOT the same thing as dirty. The tables were wiped down, the counter free of grime and clutter, menus weren't sticky, drink machines looked fine to me. So that's good! The restaurant has an almost sort of a retro feel to it, with an arcade game and lots of sports team paraphernalia. The staff was friendly and was working hard - a large crowd came in right after me and they worked diligently to get all our orders filled. I had heard so many good things about the Kitchen Sink that I sort of felt like I had to try it. I got mine without ham and onions. I also ordered a side of fried mushrooms because they're one of my favorite things. :) So here is my problem: I tend to not like hot subs, and I also tend to not like subs with a ton of different toppings (I'm usually a 1meat+1cheese purist). Kitchen sink is definitely not that. I personally didn't love it, but I didn't hate it, either! The bread had a really nice texture to it and the cheese was nice and melty. As you can probably imagine, I will stay in my lane next time and go with something that's more in line with my preferences. That being said, those fried mushrooms were BOMB. Perfect serving size for a nice snack, delicious ranch dipping sauce, flavorful, crispy breading, and the mushrooms were the perfect size and shape. I'll definitely be grabbing these again, even if I can't find a sandwich that's to my liking. Stanlieo's is definitely a Huntsville institution. I look forward to returning to try more.

Sandwiches were solid. This place was dirty though. The inside needs to be cleaned and updated, but I would be fine with clean. Employees sitting when no orders. Not sure if they washed hands when heading back to make food. Do put gloves on though. Our sandwiches were delicious! Will I be back? Idk.

We were out looking for good food and my husband and I drove to Jordan Lane to get a "fix". My oh my we were so happy to get our luscious subs. My veggie combo was so good. We ordered two and should have ordered four because they were so tasty. My dad got his steak subs and said "mighty fine". Thank you for caring Connie. Y'all should gIve Stanlieo's a chance to tickle your taste buds! You will smile with each bite.

Does this look like turkey or ham?

I used to love subs from Stanlieo's, but the last two times they have made my order wrong. The last time I ordered in person and just got my money back but today I am working from home and ordered online. I had someone pick the order up, so they didn't check it. I ordered a turkey sub and got ham. I do not eat pork, so I called to complain. The guy on the phone insisted I had turkey. I explained that I had, in fact, eaten turkey before and this was NOT turkey. The guy was rude, no apology. He did tell me I could bring it back, but I am working and not able to drive back. I will give it to my dog for "national dog day" and never eat at Stanlieos again.

This restaurant is located…read moreinside the Botanical Gardens but you don't need to pay to eat here, it's located next to the gift shop. Sometimes the food venue in a place like this can be terrible and over priced -- this isn't the case with Fern & Feast Bistro. The food selection here is pretty decent, sandwiches, tacos, salads, burgers, flatbreads etc, most in the $9-12 range. They have some kid options (chicken nuggets, grilled chese, quesadilla, etc) for picky eaters at $6 each. Downside is that the sandwiches etc don't come with fries or chips, so that could increase your meal price. I ordered the Uber sandwich because I feel like that is a good gauge of how the food will be and is pretty standard at most restos. Mine was served relatively quick on an environmentally friendly plate made if recycle paper products (I don't care all that much but I know some people will appreciate that touch). Club was delicious, but make sure to grab mustard and mayo. Bread was toasted just the right amount; it had some char but was not too dry or crunchy. Lettuce and tomato were fresh, and the proportions and amounts of the turkey, ham and beacon was great. But the best reason to come to this place is the scenery. From the back of the narrow seating area you can grab a seat that looks out over the Botanical Gardens or of you keep going back they have outdoor seating available. The weather was wonderful today and so I ate my sandwich on the patio taking in nature and avoiding the man with three children who all needed discipline in their life inside. If you're looking for a place to stop and relax with decent food while the weather is good - this is your place. Give it a shot!

The breakfast sandwiches and BLT are decently executed, but I'm REALLY not a fan of their bagels. Their bread (particularly the baguette) is fantastic, though. Note: it sells out quickly. You can still pick up your to-go order without having to deal with people. They now have a cute bookshop inside. They make their own cream cheese! Cons: If I'm paying $1.50 for an avocado add on, PLEASE don't let it be oxidized and brown and gross. This makes me sad. Parking is still a nightmare. See above about the bagels. I'm prepared for the hate I'm about to get, but I prefer Bruegger's...which is sad, as I'm sure they're produced and come in frozen. Prices have gone up, but that's to be expected. I would love, however, the option to not add on a side for less moolah. I don't want their straight from the bag chips, random baby carrots, or (somewhat icky) fruit. Depending on the timing, you may be able to get a seat. Or you may be fighting a soccer mom with 4 screaming toddlers just to pick up a to go order. Still a fan, but know what you're getting.

I've been wanting to visit since they first opened and have been anxiously watching their social media for coverage of the beautiful dishes and drinks, looking forward for my chance to try their food. But this first visit did not at all live up to the hype or my expectations. I came on a Thursday about three weeks ago after my annual doctor's visit. It was around 11:15 when I arrived. Note this restaurant is in the bustling Providence area. It's an attractive and somewhat upscale shopping and dining destination and parking can be a bit of a challenge. I found the parking lot of a nearby hotel that had ample spots, so I took one of those and marched over. It did look like there was a parking garage not too far away. Anyway, the restaurant was about 1/3 full when I arrived. The hostess asked if it was just me, which I confirmed. She asked if I was okay to sit at the bar. My preference would honestly have been a table or booth, even a two top, but I told her whatever was easiest for her was okay with me, and so to the bar I went. The bartender took my order and brought my food and mostly left me alone, which was also more my preference. He was nice enough in our interactions and food was served in a timely manner. After I ordered is when things started to go downhill. First, I asked a waitress where the restroom was and set off for a visit. Despite it being earlyish in the morning, one stall was already filthy enough I didn't want to use it, and the other one was out of toilet paper. Fortunately I noticed before using it! I came back to my seat and was served water in a carafe. It wasn't particularly cold but the bigger problem than that was that it smelled like dirty dishwater when I poured it in my cup. Not sure if my glass was still dirty or the water itself was, but suffice to say, it wasn't pleasant. Next, my food arrived. I ordered the breakfast burrito with a side of fries. Others have commented negatively on the pricing here, but my experience was slightly different. I ultimately wound up being charged for just the entree. The description for the burrito does not indicate it comes with a side. I assumed I'd pay for the burrito + side, which was going to be ~$25. THAT is a price tag I'd say is too high, but I was ultimately charged for just the entree, which was ~$16. I still think that's a bit much for the quality and size of the food I was served, but I can see how it would be acceptable under better conditions. That said, I'm not sure if the burrito does come with a side that's included in the price OR if they just forgot to charge me for a side. Anyway...the food. The fries were the best part at exactly average. They looked pretty and were crispy enough. It was a pretty paltry serving even for the price I was charged; it would've been a VERY paltry serving at the $9 (!!!) a side of fries was listed as on their menu at time of visit. Ultimately though, my main grievance is with the burrito. It needed work in about every aspect. It was put together poorly, with almost all bites I took very uneven in terms of filling, and watery sauce dribbling out before I even took my first nibble. I did ask for no avocado, but even with that in mind, I thought the amount the burrito was filled was pretty disappointing - it was tiny and heavy on the tortilla. My first few bites were only of egg and a few bacon bits - no sign of cheese, tater tots, green onions, or chipotle aioli to be found. The eggs badly needed salt or really any flavoring at all. Eventually, several more bites in, I discovered some cheese and some tater tots, but even then, the flavor-meter was pitifully low -- idk how you make a tater tot not salty enough, but these surely weren't. For a while I was convinced that they'd put some sort of very strange glaze on the bacon because it started tasing oddly sweet (à la candied bacon), but I eventually could only come to the conclusion it was the very watery, very pale chipotle aioli I was tasting. I was expecting that to be slightly spicy and definitely thicker/more mayonnaise-y, but given the listed ingredients, that's the only thing it could've been unless something went very wrong in the kitchen and some other sauce was put on my burrito. The one slightly saving grace was the green salsa, which added heat, if not a ton of flavor, to the dish. I am both mad and sad to say that I have had Taco Bell breakfast burritos that beat this one by a country mile. I really like the design and interior of this place and the menu looks promising. The service was fine. People whose opinions on food I respect have lovely things to say about Loona's dishes. I can only assume/hope my first experience was a very odd one-off. I'd be willing to try again some time in the future, but for now, this was not at all what I was hoping for from a visit.
