We had the pulled chicken sandwich, noting the portion options (5 oz small and 8 oz large). The small was very generous and more than satisfying. We paired it with a side of onion rings, which were cooked perfectly. The white sauce was excellent, and the vinegar-based BBQ sauces were thin and authentic classic Alabama-style BBQ. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich basket with a side salad, and it was excellent. The pork was served hot (not just warm), clean, not fatty, and very moist. The lightly toasted bun added great texture and pulled everything together. The kids had chicken tenders and fries, and everything came out fresh, hot, and delicious. The staff really stood out, friendly, welcoming, and happy to explain the food and sauces. You can tell they care about both their food and their customers. Overall, Boarhog's BBQ offers generous portions, authentic flavors, and great service. Highly recommended, and we'll definitely be back.

Let's start with the obvious... I NEVER would have thought that I would find legit Canadian or…read moreWisconsin poutine in Huntsville, let alone Alabama... but I was WRONG! I try not to judge a book by its cover, but I was skeptical to mix the Gobble N' Guzzle (dark lager) with a poor attempt at poutine. However, I was feeling it that day and went ahead at the confirmation of the bartender that the poutine was "pretty good" (insert skepticism). The exec chef indeed knows what he is doing. What I was greeted with was a heaping helping of crispy, skin-on fries, REAL cheese curds (not just melted BS cheese), and a thick/umami-loaded gravy that was crafted with love and all the right flavors and aromatics. The end result was a savory symphony that would give way to the dark ale as it washed the fat and flavor from my palate for me to take a breather before the next forkful (or 4... maybe more). The beer is also good (since it IS a brewery)... but that portion of the reputation precedes itself. Ranging from their flagship IPA to the dark lager I had, to the crisp pilsner, they boast a wide variety of beers that anyone who enjoys beer can find something to savor while ideally shoveling this totally legit Canadian treasure (the OG MTL style was my choice) into their gullet. I'LL BE BACK (in Arnold's voice of course)... sooner rather than later ideally. If you are looking for a beer destination with food to match, Straight to Ale will not disappoint. They have all the beers and upscale bar eats you could want. I give my seal of approval to this former school-turned culinary and culture hot spot. It's nice to see space repurposed or renovated to meet the needs and wants of the surrounding area, and they nailed it with STA.

Had the monkeynaut amongst other beers and it was the best of the batch. For lunch I wanted a pork kimchi and chicken jerk. They won't split it, but I was with someone so we ordered and spilt the tacos. The pork kimchi was the better of the two. The pork was tender, well seasoned and had a good hint of spice from the jalapeno and kimchi. The jerk chicken was ok, the chicken was a tad on the dry side and it could have used a little heat. Cool place.

My Sorority Sister and I went there after my hair appointment around the corner. Last time I was here, my group of sorority sisters enjoyed their house made BBQ chips, Montreal poutine, Asian ribs, and fries. The poutine and ribs were bit hits for our group of four. I recall the giant pretzel I had on my visit here with my coworkers. It came with the bro jo beer cheese dip that I recall being delicious and my Sister and I decided to order the Bacon Wrapped Pretzel Bites app., which is described as "bite-sized pretzel pieces wrapped in bacon with hot honey and bro jo cheese sauce." I typically don't like sweet anything, and I did not care for the "hot honey." If you don't care for sweet either, ask for the sauce on the side. As it was I could sort of cover the sweetness of the honey sauce with the cheese dip. The bacon was cooked well and managed to stay crispy, which was good! We split the Cheesesteak sandwich described as "thinly sliced grilled ribeye, sauteed onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms in melty white American cheese served on a toasted hoagie roll with a choice of side." We went with fries as the side and 86d the mushrooms. Thank goodness for the fries, which were good! This sandwich was a crime against sandwiches! If you've ever had the unfortunate experience of eating Steak-umms, then you know what I'm talking about! I think Ale's Kitchen86d all the toppings except the cheese so we had basically Steak-umm "meat" and some cheese. Ale's Kitchen is in a brewery, Straight to Ale, and I'm happy they do offer two wines: a chardonnay and a red blend. I again had the chardonnay which was, as I recalled from the last visit, flavorless. The staff were friendly, efficient, answered questions, ensured we had everything we needed, were overall kind, and our orders were promptly prepared and delivered to our table. The restrooms were clean!
