I ordered a vegetable chicken salad and it was good. What I really liked about this place is that it's affordable and healthy I got a smoothie that consisted of oats, strawberries, banana, honey and milk, salad and a Jaimaica for $12.50 be prepared to pay cash!

Outside of that there appear to be four sandwich options and a Caesar salad. My friends recommended I try the traditional (turkey on sliced bread?), but I went with the Milan. Honestly, I was underwhelmed with my sandwich. It had panini grill marks like it was heated and pressed, but the sandwich was cold. I could have made this at home for less than $8 and I don't know if there was even cheese on it as stated in the menu. I ordered ice water, but it came with sweetened cucumber water which was waaaay too sweet for me. Waste. My friends who ordered smoothies were very happy with their purchase and felt they'd be a solid meal replacement. Because of this, I went with three stars overall.

The food is genuinely delicious and clearly made fresh--every dish tastes like it came straight from the kitchen with care and attention, not off an assembly line. It's almost a problem how many favorites there are on the menu, because choosing just one feels impossible. What really elevates the experience, though, is the service. The staff are consistently friendly, welcoming, and impressively fast without ever making you feel rushed. It strikes that perfect balance that keeps you relaxed but never waiting long for anything. The atmosphere ties it all together. There's a great vibe in the space, with music that adds energy without overpowering conversation. Whether you're stopping in for a casual meal or meeting up with friends, Bernardo's feels like the kind of place you'll want to come back to again and again.

We ordered the steak, pepper steak, and the Italian hoagies. The Italian was by far our favorite, the steak hoagies were ok. If we were to ever stop by again we might try the Stromboli or pizza. Place has plenty of seating inside and out. You order and pay at the counter.

They serve a healthy menu with a variety of options sandwiches/wraps, breakfast options, vegan, kids menu, smoothies, lemonade, coffees, alcohol (after 4pm) etc. I ordered a BALT sandwich meal combo--included fries or chips + lemonade (w/flavor options). No big deal, I thought. But the sandwich was served up on fresh sourdough and the bacon was chopped up into tiny pieces so it was so easy to eat without tugging, and served with avocado slices, tomato, lettuce and the right amount of mayo ratio (which was important). The homemade lemonade was a treat. And I had the garlic fries--delicious! As mentioned, I'm still thinking about how good that sandwich was. The place isn't huge but they seat a lot of people. Try this sandwich shop--it will not disappoint!

The place is in an unassuming location, but as soon as you go through the door it's much nicer inside. We received an immediate friendly greeting but hadn't studied the menu enough to know just what we wanted. I decided on the Cuban and upgrade to fries option. Workmate ordered the chicken club with truffle fry upgrade. 2 sandos with fries and one canned soda.. $45. Not inexpensive so it'd better be fantastic and of decent proportions. Well it was neither. The bread was good but the inside of the sandwich was just weird. For me at least, it just didn't work. The meat was room temp at best and seemed a little past its prime. For the price point I feel it was lacking a proper amount of cheese, and could have had more pickle. While I've never seen tomatoes on a Cuban before, they didn't add or detract from the sandwich itself. The concept on the fries is great! Hand cut, I'm pretty sure, thick wedge style fries. I tried the workmate upgraded truff/parmesan fries and they were good too but I'm not on the truffle bandwagon like everyone else so the $4 option doesn't make sense. I feel that I paid too much for disappointing food. I most likely won't return but I do think I had great service and the employees there want to make sure you're happy with your service.

For those of us in Phoenix, we'll have to make the trip to Yuma, but it's worth making the drive for a day trip or doing an overnighter. I had the lasagna...an item that was taken off the menu but recommended by the owner (Mario) since they made some that day. It's gone now, and I savored every bite--sorry about that. Besides, a pic wouldn't do justice to the rich layers of piping hot, tender pasta sheets, slathered in hearty meat sauce and creamy béchamel and ricotta. If this is Italian comfort food, I'm all in with the way Mario's crew put this master piece on a plate. This also goes for the caprese, Cacio e pepe, margherita romana, along with the deserts like the tiramisu' de treviso, cherry cannoli siciliani, and even the bread basket is over the top. Again, apologies for the lack of photos, I will say that the visual appeal of each dish matched the flavors, so the food vanished before the thought of a photo op crossed my mind, and I savored every bite--errr, sorry about again. But if I had to make a statement describing the whole dining experience: "the gods smiled". To summarize: -Imported ingredients from Italy -Fresh vegetables -Mellow atmosphere -Service and dialog with Mario -Outstanding food Highly recommended! I'll take pictures and post them next time we dine here.

The warm atmosphere inside can't be beat, friendly staff immediately greet you amongst wine filled walls and Italian treats all around. Located inside the Quarter Master Depot (Colorado River State Historic Park) you get to dine in a historic building that has been beautifully redone to feature this Italian venue. Mario's clear goal is to bring the authentic flavors of his home to you, here in Yuma. My mom and I shared the veggie salad, caprese antipasti (comes with delicious bread) , and a slice each from the slice menu. The textures and portions were just right (no watery or oversalted dishes here!) There's a great selection of Italian wines, and they even do wine tasting events! I'll be back sooner than later.
