Former artists could have the tendancy to be particularly picky but I am incredibly pleased. They are quick, efficient, and I have never seen any other artists lay tomatos and cucumbers like they are dealing cards; it's truly amazing to watch! As a former Subway sandwich artist, Subway enthusiast, and someone who has been to a LOT of Subway restaurants all around the country, I feel I am particularly equipped to give this review. I can say definitively that the Subway on 2nd and Wall is the BEST Subway I have ever been to. The quality of the staff and their sandwiches is most certainly unparalleled at any Subway in Seattle, and quite possibly the world. I first wanted to talk about the tremendous skill of the sandwich artists. They are the best sandwich artists I've ever seen. They have sandwich-making down to a science. They bake the bread to a perfect consistency. They tile the cheese correctly. They talk to you like a human in complete sentences (i.e., "what kind of cheese would you like?" rather than the common "cheese on that?"). They disperse the vegetables quickly, evenly, and generously over the sandwich. They give you the best tomatoes slices available and throw out the gross ends. They line the jalapenos up in the middle so they don't fall out. They spread the sauces evenly and lightly. They can close a large sandwich without spilling out all the toppings. They don't stick a nasty mayonnaise laden knife in your non-mayonnaise sandwich. They also take every second their hands are free from adding things to your sandwich to tidy up the sandwich making area, maintaining the cleanest cutting boards I've ever seen. The staff is also friendly and personable. I've noticed that many of the staff has been working there for a number of years, and they are friendly, enthusiastic, make right their mistakes (which are few and far between), and seem generally interesting in keeping quality of their service high. There are at least three Subways closer to my work than this one, but I make the special trip to this one often several times a week for lunch because they are so damn good. This is one of the few Subways that doesn't make me want to jump over the glass, slap the person making the sandwich and tell them to just let me do it myself. Instead, I stand in awe of their abilities, and it is my pleasure to give testimony to their supremacy over all other Subway franchises. read more

My friend and I ran into Subway yesterday hoping to grab some dinner and beat the heat. No such luck. The place was hotter than it was outside! We were hungry, so we decided to get sandwiches anyway. The employee who made my sandwich seemed nice enough, though quite slow. My sandwich had far more veggies on it than I can get at other locations, so that was much appreciated. A different employee rung up my order. He asked me if I wanted my receipt. I responded with, "Sure, that'd be great." He punched in some buttons, ran my card, and as soon as the receipt came out, he snatched it, crumpled it up, and threw it in the trash. I stood there sort of dumbfounded as he moved on to ringing up my friend. I gave up on the receipt and instead asked if I could have a glass for water. The guy, without even bothering to look at me, told me there were cups for water by the soda fountain. Okay well, those are completely TINY cups with enough room for like two gulps of water. It's practically 90 degrees outside and I can't have a larger cup? Nope, apparently not. Since it was so hot, we ate outside at the small booths along the window. It was fine, not great. I probably wouldn't recommend this Subway, but it's certainly better than the location on 3rd & Lenora. read more

I wish I could use the Subway coupons here that I get in the mail every month (but I get it, I'd rather them be able to stay open during tough times). I've only ever seen one employee at a time, so there tends to be a line during the lunch rush, but they always do a great job working hard and getting people through. read more

I have seen a few different people working here and most of them are great. But we went the other night and this one guy must have been on some sort of drugs because his competency level was at that of a 4-year-old. You can't tell him you want cheddar cheese and toast the sandwich please. That's information overload to him, one thing at a time! Wait until he's done putting on the cheese and looks up at you, THEN tell him to toast it. And it went like this through the veggies/condiments too. I love Subway, but this was ridiculous. read more

They actually take the time to construct your sandwich effectively so it doesn't fall apart here! And instead of "What can I get you?" they open you with "How's it going?". Little things that make me like going there. Subway never really changes. Every franchise is the same. What really makes one stand out from another is the service. And this place has it going on! I stopped in on a Wednesday early-afternoon. I was greeted quickly and there was no line. The guy making my sandwich put so much care into it, I was amazed. (I'm use to the Subway in the central district that just throws your food on the bread). I even stopped to tell him how well of a job he did. It's conveniently close to the Art Institute of Seattle so I like eating here. Food is fresh and plentiful and their staff is genuinely friendly. I'll be coming back here for months to come. Typically we like subway and have found great consistency thru out the franchises. We are visiting seattle and stopped in to use the restroom for my 5 yo daughter while sight seeing. The clerk refused to take off his gloves to hand over the key to my daughter. My 16 yo son was also being ignored. My wife finally had to go in to get him to take off his gloves. I'm already not a fan of Subway. I have many gripes w/ this chain and when there came a day I was willing to open up my wallet to them, they were closed during their open business hours. I was extremely hung over and having a bad day; happens to all of us. I took lunch from work and walked over to Subway to find them still closed. I looked inside; the lights were off and I double checked the store hours plastered on the front of the door. I saw someone inside and knocked, but she only made some sort of shooing away gesture and then ignored me. At least had the courtesy to explain if something had happened to the store. Have the professionalism to eve talk to me. I can understand if someone no-showed or electricity was out, that's life. But to shoo a customer away... Never again Subway. My wife and I are not going to be touching your food ever again. read more
