I ponder the menu, it's a decent sized menu, with a good amount of items I decided to go for my old standby, the poutine. I put in my order, and he brings it back quick. It was a decent portion. The fries were well seasoned, crispy on the outside, yet tender on the inside. They were very good. The gravy. Was just the right texture. Not too thin, and not too thick. It was a good quality gravy. It had a deep rich flavor. The one problem, is that there was a very small amount of the cheese curds. They were basically not even the full cheese curds, just little chunks here and there. What cheese curd I got was good, there just was hardly any of it. Let's face it. Poutine without cheese curds is just "gravy fries." Even though there was hardly any of the cheese, curds, overall, it was still a good meal. I left stuffed. Poutine and a soda, the price was reasonable. I would like to try some of the other items on the menu. Thanks.

The only real difference is you pay the service associate that brings it out to you. Definitely a place to have close to exact funds, although the associate did indeed have exact change to give. Nothing overly exciting about the look and feel, other than being pretty open and not tight feeling in stall/lane. The food selection is similar to any other fast food location. Opted for a chicken sandwich basket. Fries were cooked nicely and not overly salty. The crispy chicken sandwich had good crunch and juicy not dry texture. The bun was soft with no seeds and sized nicely. All and all a good quality filling sandwich.

Unfortunately, they don't do the carhop trays anymore, but everything else is exactly the same, down to the ordering by telephone from your table if you decide to eat inside. The service was fast and my carhop was very friendly.... My order was simple. A papa burger, fries, and of course, a root beer float. The burger and fries , were very good. I think the fact that I hadn't been to an A&W with a carhop, since I was a kid, made everything taste even better. The root beer, float, alone, A&W always does a great root beer, float, but this one, also just immediately took me back. Not only that, but this A&W uses cane sugar root beer. That alone makes it taste better. The memory factor alone made this worth the stop. Prices are very reasonable. The restaurant is cash only, but they do have an ATM inside Thanks, for the memories...

I assume it's because they make those to order compared to the beef and chicken items which were coming out super quick. The veggie shack was great though! I had a 4 hour drive up to Canada from Buffalo and remembered that they had upgraded rest stops…read moresince i had visited many years ago. They seem to show up every 20-30 miles so if you miss one, another will come pretty quickly at thruway speeds. In any event, I was ahead of schedule, around 1pm, and decided to stop for lunch and a bathroom break. The main choices were Chick fil A, which is usually quick, but not my first preference for many reasons, and Shake Shack. I almost bailed but saw that only about 2 people were waiting to order at SS and maybe 5 people standing waiting for food so I went up to the kiosk and it was actually pretty efficient and within a few minutes I had ordered. They have a screen telling you which orders are being worked on, and they also let you get a text message as well. Now I know Shake Shack says everything is cooked to order, but essentially its burgers and chicken sandwiches with Fries. That's basically what everyone orders foodwise for the most part. I was no exception. Then I sat down, and waited, and waited, and waited. 25 minutes since ordering, and nothing. The two guys who ordered in front of me were also frustrated, and one guy was trying to convince an employee manager to give him a refund. Now all the time I was ahead of schedule was gone, I was starving and annoyed. Finally I get a text message and walk up. They looked at me like I had two heads until I showed them the text. One guy goes and looks and acts like he had discovered gold and gives me a thumbs up. Is he kidding me? It's fast food and he still doesn't bring the bag over. Finally a very large person walks over, and carries four bags from one counter to the one we were standing in front of. I can see my name clearly on the bag, and even though he tried to stop me, I just pointed to my name and went off to eat. I probably should have just gone to my car and started driving to make up some of the time, but opened the bag and realized this wasn't some grand conspiracy to ruin my trip timing, but more just pure incompetence. Of course, my chicken sandwich which was supposed to come with bacon and avocado, had neither. But there was zero chance I was going back to these people and have me wait another 5-10 minutes. I just ate it very quickly, including the fries. They tasted good, but I honestly was not happy and have waited 3 days to write this. Food was okay. Service was awful. They are lucky to get 2 of 5 stars.

This is not going to be an easy review to write. I have so many conflicting thoughts and…read morefeelings... reviewing a restaurant should never be this dramatic! Seriously though... speaking as someone who was a partner in two restaurants in NYC for 4 years, who does not claim to "know it all" but knows some tricks of the trade... I think they've got great potential and would like to share my thoughts with them. Saying they've "got potential" probably come across as smug, obnoxious, and ridiculous, especially because they've got like 4.6 stars here on Yelp! And that's mainly why I found myself here... Staying in Mansfield for the night, I looked up restaurants that were enroute to our hotel. Some of them had 3 or 3.5 stars and I said "no way." But 4.6 stars with as many reviews as The Farmer's Table has? Absolutely! The atmosphere is a little bit diner but cozy enough and has the farm as a theme. There are some cool design elements, like the steel ceiling, the tables... The bathroom was clean and well stocked, and that's a really good sign that the place is sanitary and organized. The waitress was really, really nice... and we loved that we were in this tiny little town and yet she had this really cool, funky image. Great fingernails! I'm jealous! A tip for her to make service even better... think about sequence of service. Think about the extras that the customer will want with the specific thing they ordered so that they won't have to bother you. If they order something with fries, definitely put ketchup on their table, and do it before the food is delivered. There were also a lot of empty tables with salt shakers, but it's had none. Some customers notice these little things and appreciate a server who anticipates their needs. On the other hand, maybe she was just really slammed busy before we got there. My wife and I waited like 2 minutes for her to take my order and she apologized profusely for having us wait so long for her. I was like, "am I in Manhattan or wut???" She was on point, generally easy to find when we needed her, she was never trying to hide from customers (a huge no-no) and very well-intentioned. Definitely a keeper. The food though... I was surprised we didn't like it very much being the reviews were so good. When I got the check to pay, I asked the server what their most beloved and popular dishes are. She said that ppl order a lot of the prime rib sandwich, and also the cat fish. Incidentally, I had ordered the prime rib sandwich, and my wife had the breaded cat fish. I was expecting a lot more meat on my sandwich, and the bun was just a regular burger bun, but it was ok. It came with 3 slices of pickle and cost $11.90. I was still hungry after that so I finished my wife's catfish 'cuz she gets full easily. I liked the catfish more, but neither of us thought it was anything special. What was special were the prices. The catfish included 2 sides, and it cost less than $14. Being from NYC, it was so refreshing to see pricing that reminded me of year 2000! A burger for $7.85 that's not Burger King? Incredible! But the cole slaw... ewww. I didn't hate it, but I kind of forced myself to eat it even though it had a strange flavor. The sweet potato fries were ok. Everything was basically O.K. I imagine that, if I lived there, I would go pretty regularly cuz it's probably the best thing the neighborhood has in a few square miles, and it's easier and more fun than cooking at home (if you're not a cook and you're busy at work). But I think that some improvement in the food could make the place more of a destination. And a destination could actually bring more business to the surrounding businesses! I can understand if the townspeople want very basic food there, but at least offer a few specials that are fancier, better ingredients, something that stands out and is memorable. I know I'm spoiled coming from NYC... a 4.6 star review in places like Manhattan are different than a 4.6 star review in a small town. But this place has some nice things about it. Take it all the way!
