Plenty of fruits and vegetables, a butcher, deli, frozen foods, and more. No shortage of options. My complaint here is the crowd. It's nuts in there. Got pushed and shoved a few times and you feel rushed. If only this place was larger with more room for people and carts.

Farmers Produce (459 E. Railway Avenue, Paterson, NJ) is my go-to store for such basic staples as…read more milk, butter, juice, tomatoes, onions, scallions, parsley, and lettuce. Generally speaking, no one in the area can beat their prices on those items. A half-gallon of Lactaid milk will cost me just $2.99 at this store. If I go to any other store in the area, I'll pay a dollar or two more for that same half-gallon. The other day I picked up a large, 11-ounce package of organic baby arugula for just $1.99. And when I got to the check-out counter, the gal, Paola (seen in one of the photos I'll post), noticed that some of the arugula at the bottom of the package appeared to be damp or wilted; she said, "Let me get you a better pack," and went in the back and got me a better one. I can't imagine a checker at a big chain supermarket doing anything like that. But it's a small store, they know their customers, and they treat them with care. When I got home one recent hot summer day and found that the half-gallon of milk I'd bought from the store was beginning to turn bad, I took it back to the store and asked if I could get a replacement. They were happy to accommodate me, even though I did not have a receipt. I value that kind of service. And on any given day, there are some real bargains to be found--inside the store or out in front of it. They always have bags of fruits and veggies that--because they're slightly imperfect or a day or two old--are marked down to just one dollar. I'll buy a dollar bag of apples and they're fine. It is a small store. They certainly don't have everything. And not everything is a bargain. But you can always find some real bargains among the fruits and veggies they sell here. Lines at the check-out counter or short, and the workers are helpful and friendly.

Blueprint on how to lose loyal customers of many years. Good prices but you get what you pay for. The only way they'll survive is by duping new customers but eventually people learn the hard way. Never going back. One of the oldest farmer's markets in New Jersey and clearly the only surviving one in continuous…read moreoperation in north Jersey, this is exactly precisely what a farmer's market was, is, and should be: an area located near a railhead -- or canal dock, or other such large transportation hub -- for the purpose of selling whatever just came off the train, or whatever is going on the train later that day. The freight train no longer stops here, but the market lives on. On any given day you will find whatever it is you need to find, fresh, daily, at this market. The shame of it, Corrado's does a better job at presentation and sometimes even pricing, and it's about two blocks away. You're then given something of a choice, which is to stay at this open-air bazaar (and it has traditional storefronts as well, as is open 24/365 because enough religious contingents overlap to make that possible)... or get in your car and go to Corrado's. Most in the neighborhood elect to preserve life and limb and not attempt to cross Crooks Avenue, as it has become overly-trafficked in the past ten years. Good luck even trying to make a left onto Crooks in a car. In any case, if you happen to live in the neighborhood, this beats A&P and Pathmark, etc hands-down. It's a rare enough resource and worth the trip, especially since it puts you close to so much South Paterson goodness. -C

i had always wanted to stop in this store, as i live locally and pass it almost daily while…read moredriving. i also try to support local businesses as often as possible. i finally stopped in one day, and was so excited because i absolutely LOVE farmers markets & frequently visit grocery stores of different cultures. the first time i stopped here with my boyfriend to grab some lemons & onions, and was so excited to see they had dried rose petals which i use to make my own tea blends. when we go to checkout, i say hello & good morning to the cashier, & tell her how i was so excited to finally have a chance to stop in and how awesome this store was. she didn't say hi or respond to me at all. nothing, not a word! she was incredibly unfriendly and cold towards us. she didn't tell me my total either after ringing up my items! just stared at us while i paid with my card. i just chalked it up to maybe she's just having an off day. no worries. her reaction was more than enough to ward off my boyfriend for the foreseeable future, he was extremely turned off by the entire checkout encounter. the next time i came back was with my daughter. i just stopped in for some lemons and to see if they had wooden skewers. while picking out lemons, a man was facing us directly standing about 3 feet away, and just STARING at us the entire time! it was so awkward and felt super uncomfortable and creepy!? then when i couldn't find the skewers, i tried to ask the cashier and she didn't understand so i pulled up a picture for her. she was incredibly rude and said with a rather rude and condescending tone "this is an indian store. we don't have-l this, you need to go to american store" (.........as if i didn't know that i had walked into an indian grocery store / farmers market ) 2 for 2...... i wont be back.

Open every Wednesday from June 19 to September 18, 2013, 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm rain or shine. Try the lemonade and get an infusion, Paterson Pickle Company makes some nice sauerkraut among other things, the produce people from South Jersey are good, Nana's Kitchen has nice middle eastern foods and the kebabs are great. No sign of a cheesemonger yet??? One of the community benefits is the donation of some of the extra food to the Paramus Division of Human Resources' (DHR) Food Pantry, where it is then distributed to needy members of the community, according to DHR director Irene Maury. Those who meet the program's criteria, such as disabled seniors, now gain ready access to fresh food through the program. Come out and support locally sourced food.

We checked the whole entire area but still found nothing. Turns out after 2010 the farmers market discontinued. But they forget to change the status to closed. So it said open, meanwhile it had been discontinued for 16 years. In conclusion, never trust the status of an unverified/unclaimed place, cause that usually means it ethier is just a wrong map listing or it was discontinued. So if you seem to be on Apple Maps right now, from experience I can tell you for a fact that this place is non existent.
