Best teakwondo ever! The instructors are amazing and they fixed the bathrooms! Highly recommend going there!

I would give 0 stars if possible. Most instructors quit and now rely on the children to teach classes (child labor) while parents still have to pay for class. You have to pay extra to be in a special program to do more things. Classes will ALWAYS end late and the schedule always hast drastic changes. The bathrooms are disgusting and never cleaned and the floors are dirty. I wish the owner would teach the values to himself that they claim to teach the kids. The classes are overpriced. This place is a great family environment, knowledgeable and caring staff, and the before and aftercare program is top notch. They offer summer camp, before and after school pick up and drop off which makes my day very convenient. I've told all my friends and family about SMA thats how much I enjoy their programs. Don't waste your time with those money hungry franchises where your child is just a number. My son has been part of the after school program am summer camp at SMA for several years. Amazing place to send your children after school and on school breaks. Everyone there is exceptional, my son loves going there. They do homework with the kids and teach them, confidence, respect and self control. They prices are so reasonable I almost feel like I should pay more. Highly recommended. read more

My son started in dragons when he was 3 years old. He has motor issues and we were looking for something to help him be more aware of his body. It has definitely worked. If the term "slum lord" could be applied to a martial arts school owner, Joseph Preira would win top prize. The conditions in which Joseph chooses to leave the school is absolutely appalling, unsanitary, and unsafe. If we begin with observations that anyone walking in off the street can see, half the ceiling lights in the school have blown and need to be replaced, there is paint peeling off the walls, the girls and boys bathrooms both respectively are down to one working toilet/urinal, the ceiling in the office has collapsed resulting in exposed wiring, and an overall dirty dojang that only is cosmetically cleaned once a week, hence the smell. Now to go on to what CANT be seen... The basement (which is accessible through the room that houses all of the Before/After School program students) should be enough to have the whole school shut down. The foundation is cracked and crumbling, resulting in a massive amount of flooding. Each rain storm results in anywhere between 5-25 inches of standing water. With standing water comes the obvious problems. 1. Mold. No more needs to be said here. 2. The HVAC units not consistently working. The school has suffered from no air conditioning in the summer, and problems with heating in the winter. With the HVAC unit being located in the basement surrounded by the mold, I can only imagine the spores are being blown throughout the school... that is when it's actually working properly. At between $57-$97 a week for evening classes, and $147-$197 a week for the after school program, nothing besides an immaculately kept building should be accepted. But in that incredibly high weekly rate, don't forget to incorporate the "value" in what you are selling to the students... right? The instructors that Joseph staffs the school with do a good job instilling the characteristics that you would expect from a Martial Arts School... Integrity, Respect, and Character Development. But we aren't here to talk about the instructors, we are here to talk about the owner of the school who you are supporting when enrolling your child. In relation to the 3 characteristics previously mentioned, I will share my observations on how they apply to "master" Preira. 1. Respect. A Master Instructor should respect his students enough to remember their names, right? Wrong. Joseph would actually have to show up to engage and teach his students in order for this to be achieved. He shows up for graduations... that's it. No wonder he doesn't know many students by their first name. A Master instructor and school owner should respect his staff enough to pay them consistently on time, right? Wrong. Semi Monthly paychecks are repeatedly late (often by a week or more), and have even bounced. 2. Integrity. Integrity means to be honest and truthful. Joseph will talk you in circles, and tell you whatever you want to hear to get you to sign on the line so he can take your money for the next 5 years. When he doesn't deliver on what he promised you because he is not teaching classes on a daily basis? Too bad. You signed the contract. But don't worry.. he will do you a solid and allow you to "buy out" the contract at a discounted rate. 3. Character Development. Oh boy. Only a man that was married and starting a family could practice infidelity while selling you the importance of commitment, integrity and respect. People can grow and change though, right? It would seem that Joseph has been seen stuck in old habits. Can't teach an old dog new tricks now, can you? As a new mother who has a deeper understanding for wanting the best for her children, Success Martial Arts isn't it. read more

Beware of SMA - Scam Martial Arts Master Preira is very masterful at extracting your money and deceiving customers. It will start at one rate then then try to lock you into a 3 year contract with NO provision to cancel except death or injury. Even if you sign the contract they will add a $395 initial fee and inform you after. Read it and use your right to cancel within 3 business days. Please do not give them any credit card because they will continue charging even if suspense is requested for several weeks vacation travel. They will even lie to your face saying they will hold credit for time away but when time comes they NEVER refund it. Check your contract dates and amounts and NEVER write your credit card information without it because they will take liberty of filling it in for you and hold you to it. I wish Master Preira would hold himself and his team to the same honesty and ethics they proclaim to teach students! read more

DO NOT TRUST YOUR KIDS WITH THEM. They are all about the money and you can NOT get our of contract even though they say you can when you sign up. They put your kids in unsafe situations and are understaffed as they "do not have to follow any state laws since they aren't a child watch facility - Joseph" RUDE- Addition comments: There was physical abuse in the boys bathroom, This was brought to my attention from my son, NOT the school. The parents of the other party was contacted after I sat down with Liza and discussed what just had happened to my son. SMA was aware of what had happened, as the instructor had punished my son for "fooling around in the bathroom". He wasn't the one fooling around as the other little boy had bullied him into doing things he didn't want to do. This is a serious matter and was taken very lightly from the owner. There is still a large amount of money owed to me, as in their eyes i've broken my contract so I don't get paid. STEER CLEAR for the well being of your children. read more

Sma started out ok but turned south quickly when we tried to leave due to high staff turn over, they refused to communicate except via email and told me they had taken parents to court and won in response to trying to discuss how we could part ways amicably.
