I found this restaurant by chance and am so happy I did. The restaurant is so quaint, a great quiet place for a date. Aisha was a very attentive wait person and provided great suggestions of dishes to order. The restaturant and the staff are all very welcoming. But it is the food that is the real star....it was delicious! I shared the hot appetizer, Hot Mezze, the potatoes were delicious. So was the roasted cauliflower. After tasting the appetizers, my friend and I decided were definitely coming back to eat there again. The kefta kebobs were delicious although I would have liked the chicken kebabs to have had more flavor. Once you go there, you will make this a regular stop. Suda is one of my favorite Mediterranean Restaurants in Chicago. Even though it is pricey, I recommend it as I enjoy some of the dishes a lot. First-Their free bread is served hot and fresh, and the sauces they come with are so flavorful! I will always get seconds because they're just that good. -Their Baba Ghanoush was one of the best Baba Ghanoush I have ever had (I don't say this lightly). It was very smokey and savory. The pomegranate on top perfectly complements it. -Arnibit (Cauliflower): People like this one a lot, but I personally think it's just the presentation that is appetizing. It tasted like a regular cauliflower, and I wished the sauce complemented and infiltrated the cauliflower more. It felt like I was eating two separate things. -Mixed Grill: the chicken and the beef were juicy and well made. The kefta was the star. It was soft and so well seasoned, and every time I order it I wish we could have more. My only comment would be that we wish the portions are bigger, considering the price was pretty expensive. This could only fill one person in my opinion. Nevertheless I love it. They also have very specific and unique dishes that you don't normally see at bigger restaurants. Can't express how much I enjoyed this place. Everything from the service, the food, and the feel in the restaurant was great. You can tell this place is family owned and run with care. Had such an amazing dinner at Suda's! All the flavors were so amazing, but what really stood out to me was how insanely fresh everything tasted. I loved all the food but if you have to get any one thing, it HAS to be the Arnibit/roasted cauliflower. Very worth coming! Super wonderful flavors and high quality ingredients. The Makanek was seriously tasty, served with pita, garlic sauce, and tahini sauce. In such a crazy world I feel there is goodness still left. Why do I say that, right? Reason being, I told the chef (Suda) that my 2 year old son is a very picky eater and was asking for noodles and so, he didn't try anything, on that the chef said "you should have told me, and I please would have made something in noodles for him. Which melted my heart. The places is very homely and the food is beyond amazing. We tried a lot of their items. Where we tried, the cold platter and the hot platter, chicken Shawarma plate and Lebanese beer. For some reason, the pictures came out to be really nice, but I was more focused on the food so didn't click as much as I wanted. With ambience, felt since the place wasn't as busy we had multiple waitress taking our orders and our request. Which made them pretty efficient. They did recommend good food! I found this restaurant prior to my weekend trip to Chicago, and was extremely excited to try it out because of all the positive reviews. The restaurant was cozy and all of the tables had cute flowers. We ordered hummus as our appetizer and then our waitress asked if we wanted to order the popular cauliflower dish as well. We said no and she told us again how popular it is. No complaints with the hummus. We then ordered our entrées, a chicken, Shawarma sandwich, and Shish Taouk. After ordering we handed our menus to our waitress, and she said she was going to leave one at our table in case we wanted to order more. We thought this was really strange because we ordered an appetizer and two entrées (only two of us eatting). The chicken shawarma and rice were tasty. The chicken (Shish Tapuk) was really dry and chewy. This was really surprising being the focal point of the dish and costing $24. The menu states they automatically add an 18% gratuity, I asked about this and she said that wasn't true so I tipped 20%. Unfortunately, this didn't feel like an $84 meal. There is absolutely a reason this restaurant has five stars because it stems well beyond the outstanding food. We eat Lebanese food across the city (too) regularly and Suda's IS the place. This is a great spot to try authentic Lebanese food! Parking is street parking but plenty of options around. We got seated right away and our server was efficient and prompt. We ordered the warek enab, arnibit, beef skewer, and chicken skewer entrees. We also tried their drinks and ordered the glass of cabernet and Beirut beer which were from Lebanon. Came here recently and honestly didn't expect to be this impressed by the vegetarian side of the menu. Most people associate Lebanese food with kebabs (which they do have), but the real highlight for me was everything else. The falafel was super crisp on the outside but still soft and flavorful inside, and the grape leaves were fresh and perfectly balanced, not too heavy or overly tangy. The salads and sides felt really clean and thoughtfully put together. Lots of herbs, citrus, and pomegranate that made everything taste bright without being overwhelming. Even the richer dishes didn't feel too heavy, which I appreciated. Also tried a seafood dish and it was cooked really well, simple but packed with flavor. This place truly made my entire weekend. I was visiting one of my best friends in Chicago who is Lebanese, and she suggested Suda's for a Friday night girl's night. We were immediately greeted & sat by friendly waitstaff who gave us amazing suggestions for drinks, food, and desserts. Our server suggested a drink with Arak, a delicious Lebanese liquor that reminded me of Ouzo. A must try if you like licorice/anise, and still a must try if you don't. The two of us shared Baba Ghanouj (the BEST baba I've EVER had), lebneh spread, grape leaves, Sambusek, kibbeh, and kefta. All of the food was so amazing that I had to come onto Yelp 2 weeks later to give this place a review. We got Knafeh for dessert which was presented beautifully and tasted even better. Hidden gem! I have to give my charming companion credit for wanting to try this cute little boite on Fullerton, very close to Liar's Club! Plus, WOMAN OWNED! I was excited to try this, being a long time devotee of Middle Eastern food. Which also makes me a bit of a tough critic, but whatever, this place hit it out of the park! First wine! Had a very nice Lebanese Cabernet - very dry. Lebanon, specifically the Bekka Valley, is known for their delicious wine. I'd order this again, it was very good. Appetizers, of course, FALAFEL! Damn, this was delicious. Bright green on the inside, practically a requirement with me - nutty, moist and a very crunchy outside. Dipped in the array of sauces we had as well - baba ganoush, thoum and a yogurt dip. The adorable and friendly waitress brought out a couple more appetizers for us to try, and WOW - I'll come back for these. Baba ganoush - just great. So fresh, smoky and smooth. Garnished with pomegranate seeds, I couldn't stop eating this stuff. WOW. The other appetizer was a beetroot appetizer - beetroot cut up and covered with a tangy sauce. Delicious as well - if you like beets, and I love them, this is a good one too. The Lebanese people have perfected the art of the "snack dinner", and I will always love them for their delicious "mazza". No real need to order entrees, but we did anyway! BF had the stuffed potato cakes. Small round little hockey puck like things filled with minced meat. 4 on a plate, these were super tasty, and fit the "mazza" category. I ordered the Chicken Kofta special, and while it was a *touch* on the dry side, it was seasoned perfectly. It got juicy and delicious, though, once I put a little of the thoum (garlic!) sauce on it - WINNER. The dill rice it came with was perfection, a LOT of dill. I love me some dill. The owner/chef came out to dish with us after our meal, a charming, beautiful woman. I just loved this restaurant, couldn't help muttering "the food is great here!" to the couple coming into the restaurant after us. To which they said "we know, we love this place"! I'd probably give this 4.5 stars, but the issues we had were very fixable. We went here after reading other reviews online. two couples went for a 6pm dinner. We were hungry and tried a lot of dishes. From a food POV, this was a 5-star spot. with a few 4-star-leaning issues. Dishes we had: * Pita - decent, could be warmed a little before serving. The Tahini and Garlic dips were a nice add-on Meze Cold sampler: * Baba Ganoush - I didnt' try it (not a fan), but the person that wanted it ate ALL of it * Roasted Red pepper (Muhammara) - this was also tasty * Beets - This was VERY VERY good Other standalone Apps: * Tabouleh - This was good, but not as juicy as some. It was flavorful, but a bit dry. * Spiced potatoes - They were tasty, but the served warned us like they had pepper and would be spicy. That was odd. There was NO part of this that was spicy, but again, it was tasty (more on this later) * Kibbeh - I liked these, but the first bite I had was a bit more oily than I'd prefer. This really could have used a spicy sauce/ pepper (I know I mentioned spice. I don't like veyr spicy food, but these needed a little "kick") * Lentil soup - I didn't taste it, but the person that ordered it was impressed. It looks excellent. Entrees: * The cod - It was good, and the fish topping was tasty. however, it was not a show-stopper (see next dish) * Beef Kefta and Chicken Kefta - Both were outstanding... BUUUUUTTT... none of these entrees had the mixed veggies as listed on the menu. That was a bit off. They didn't mention it or offer a substitute either. They just didn't appear. The Dill Rice is much better than the White rice -- note that the menu didn't mention the different options. Dessert Baklava - This was good and had a moderate sweetness. Other places drench it in too much honey. This was a smart amount of sweetness. They gave us a bday platter with Knafeh, but i didn't try that. Note: is you have a pistachio allergy, let them know. They were all over the dessert. The tea with dessert was a nice addition. Honestly, we tried a LOT of food and left absolutely stuffed. Some things were "good". Many were REALLY great. We enjoyed meeting Suda. It is always nice when someone cares enough to greet the guests. The other odd thing was our server. She was oddly quiet and confusing. She didnt' seem to know theorder of operations either. She took our app order then left for a while. She then came back and started taking menus... but she hadn't takent our food order! There were a few other confusing things she did during the meal too. That will work itself out over time, but see some reviews mention server "challenges" too. We will 10000% be back. this was a great meal (i'll aslso get my veggies next time). And the prices were VERY reasonable for the portions. PS We found parking right out front (meter) read more

This is one of best Lebanese restaurants not only in Chicago but perhaps in the country. I am originally from Lebanon and the food here is phenomenal and authentic. Enjoyed dinner here at this neighborhood spot for my wife's birthday. Even with an 8 person party at peak dinner time, service was excellent. The food and drink was A++. Everything from the apps to the main courses were outstanding. The very nice sous chef (daughter of the owner) said hello to the table and made sure we had everything we needed--even generously comped us two different salads to try and dessert as well. I had a great birthday dinner. My husband and I came with another couple and we split a few cold and hot appetizers that were all really tasty. Most of our main meals were also good. The only reason that I knocked off one star is for MY main meal. The cod meal didn't come with any grilled vegetables listed on the menu and the white rice that it came with wasn't as tasty as the dill rice that my husband's meal came with.
