3.5 stars would be most accurate. The food was delicious and some of the staff were nice. But there was something disappoinitng. Let's start with the food. I ordered Prawns Saganaki and side of pita bread. Asked for no oil nor salt for the pita. While it was shown on the lunch menu on their website, the Prawns Saganaki was actually not on the lunch menu. Luckily, the kitchen has prepared it (for dinner) so I was able to try it. In total 4 pc of big shrimp, served with tomato sauce, crumbled feta and cherry tomatoes. The feta was so finely crumbled that it could easily "melt" in the sauce. The cherry tomatoes added more juiciness to it. Overall great, and definitely paired well with the pita. What made me disappointed, if not annoyed, was the check-in. I waited for nearly 6 min until someone finally noticed me. The staff said she would come "just a minute". At that time a woman (white) went into the restaurant and sat at the bar. Then she started to greet her, and discussed the menu with her, and even took the order! Looked like she completely forgot my presence. Possibly some discrimination/racism idk. i would have left if the restaurant did not charge a no-show fee for reservation. We were in the area and decided to give this place a try. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but I do wish they had more menu options to choose from. I ordered the Georgie's gyro, and it was actually pretty good. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the "few fries" that normally come with it due to my shellfish allergy, and I wasn't offered a replacement option. Since the entrées are a bit on the pricier side, I would have appreciated having a substitute or a more substantial side included. Had the absolute best time here w a friend. We came at an odd hour, at 330pm, and walked in without a rez. The interior is inviting and warm. Our server, Katie, was excellent. She was so friendly and knowledgeable, she explained all the different dishes so well and came around right at the exact times we needed her. OThe food was amazing. We started out w the mezze collection, we chose tzatziki, spicy whipped feta, and the skordalia w octopus, it came w 2 wood fired pitas. You guys, this mezze collection was straight fire. It was divine. It also was quite filling and we prob didn't need a whole fish after, but I was not mad about the fish bc the fish was incredible as well. We got the wild lavraki, which was explained to us as the cousin of branzino. It was deboned for us at our table and he sprinkled flaky salt, squeezed lemon, and added some delicious flavored oils on top. Prob the freshest fish I've had in the city. Such a delightful restaurant with beautiful intimate but also friendly vibe. We made reservation in case it would be packed. We were seated right away even though we were roughly 15 minutes early. Stopped by on a busy Saturday evening. The restaurant was packed but they were able to seat us outside. It was tolerable but as the night went on it grew colder and the lamp lights they have set up weren't enough to keep me warm. If you're picky about where you're seated or get cold easily I would recommend making a reservation. The server was super understanding and even helped us move a table closer to the heat lamps. Even though I was distracted by the cold, I was able to enjoy my meal. Dishes are made to share. They have a lot of good items but their menu is seasonal and rotates , so keep that in mind if you find something on there that you love. We made a reservation the same night and there was plenty of open spots. Know that if you do not show to a reservation it can be up to $15 per person for missing it. Overall, ambience was great. We had a party of 6 plus 2 babies and the staff was accommodating of our strollers. Lydia was our server and she was very attentive to our group. I am back in Chicago, and this city truly rivals New York for incredible restaurants! The food at this spot is absolutely fantastic. The pita was out of this world, and the simple combination of tomatoes, olive oil, and salt was incredibly yummy. I've dined at Andros five times, most recently tonight. At its best it's outstanding. Sometimes it's a bit less than outstanding but still very good. But it's expensive, so the diner has a right to expect something special. I'd say my favorite visits were the first one and this most recent one, the three in between were very good but not quite as fantastic. And in fairness to Andros, one visit was during that peculiar holiday period between Christmas and New Years when a lot of regular staff has time off. My advice is to stick to the fresh fish. That is where they shine. Mediterranean fish; reportedly flown in daily to O'Hare from Southern Europe. By contrast, lamb, for example, can sometimes fall short. Tonight I had the Galician Turbot with a pistachio and brown butter optional topping. My dining companion had the Aegean Sole with the Andros topping (capers, parsley, and lemon). The portions can be huge (you buy by the pound) and - especially if you're an out of town visitor with no local kitchen to bring leftovers back to - you might wish to split one fish entree with another person. We each started with a bowl of avgolemono soup and split an order of the lightly toasted village sesame bread. We also shared an order of Greek fries with our fish entrees. We were too full to have dessert but we did take lots of fish and some fries home with us. Service was great, especially the two young men who filleted our fish orders table-side. The fellow working on my turbot was so careful I noticed he even carefully removed the lemon seeds that fell on my fish as they squeezed fresh lemon on it. This place has been on my list for a very long time and we got in for a Valentine's Day reservation. I was really excited about the limited menu because I wanted the shredded lamb shoulder. Our reservation was at 5:30... About as early as you can get for dinner and yet they were already sold out of the special so that was really disappointing that they would be so unprepared for one of the most popular dinner date holidays of the year... Alternatively, we went with a bunch of appetizers and split two entrées. Somewhere delicious somewhere very mid and somewhere a let down. Here's the breakdown: - Fried zucchini chips 5/5 - one of my favs in the city - Octopus 2/5 - one of my least favs in the city... it lacked flavor, was a small portion for the price and had a gooey string that grossed us both out - Fish spread that started with an M... haha 5/5 - I can't remember the name, but this was delicious! It was definitely pricey for the portion though especially because it didn't include pita... We had to pay an additional seven dollars for two pieces of pita, which was ridiculous - Oysters - 4/5 - husband enjoyed - Katifi cheese pie 4/5 - very tasty! Sweet and pricey but worth it - On special - fried fish- 2/5 - the waitress described these as small bite-size fish, but that is not how they came out and instead, it was really difficult to debone them and you hardly got any meat out of it. The flavor wasn't bad, but the experience was disappointing. I will say that they comped these after our feedback. - Gyros - 2.5/5 - it's not that these were bad per se... But I've had way better in the city to include fast, casual restaurants, and the price for the portion was pretty ridiculous again. Hardly any accoutrements. - Rockfish with pistachio brown butter - 5/5 - I believe this fish was on special and she described it as being a sweeter fish. They did come to the table and cut it for you so it was a lot easier to eat. The fish was cooked perfectly and had a sweet flavor. I also liked that you could choose your own dressing because the brown butter pistachio was delicious. - baklava froyo 3/5 - i'll bump this up to three because my husband liked it more than I did, but I was very disappointed by this dessert. The Greek yogurt was sour as to be expected, but instead of having actual baklava or pistachio flavor to balance it out, it basically just tasted like they dumped simple syrup on it and it was like a sour ice cream with just pure sugar drizzle... It really didn't come together for me. Overall, the service was really good and our waiter was very sweet. Also, our wine was delicious and the zucchini chips and fish spread were good, so maybe we would come for appetizers and drinks, but I definitely wouldn't return for a Greek dinner with the other options we have in the city. read more

My friend and I have our birthdays in February. I wanted to do something special. My friend, his sister, and I came here to celebrate. The ambiance is wonderful, especially when it starts to get dark outside. There is beautiful graffiti to look at as you walk up to the restaurant as well. I think parking is ample, but it would be annoying if you had to use the parking garage that's pretty much next door. We got here before the dinner rush on a Sunday. Street parking is free. Getting right into it, we were instantly served an appetizer of what looked like cherry tomatoes on a vine with a small dish of oil, salt, and spices for dipping. The server said these tomatoes are flown in daily from overseas. It wasn't easy to eat. If you're on a first date, I'd just pop the whole tomato in my mouth, or try to cut the tomato in half carefully without it squirting everywhere. That way the contents of the dip dish will stick to the tomato. Additionally, I ordered us the calamari appetizer with some bread. It was delicious, but it didn't wow me. I had the octopus, and my friends had the beef and the eggplant. All were delicious. I wish I had ordered a larger portion of the octopus. Overall the portions are small, and for what we paid I think they could have come down on the price. It clocks for the area though. Everyone was nice, but if I am paying this much for a dinner, I don't want to watch children running around and making noise either. I don't consider this place a family restaurant. Especially when the focal point in this place is the bar. Desserts were okay. The server gave me a spoon to cut through my flaky apple dessert with barely any apple filling. What was there was delicious. Again, I would say re-think the portions or the pricing. Maybe consider adding a side to the octopus without increasing the cost. Dine here once for the experience. I've been on a Greek food kick lately and I recommend Andros Taverna. Located in Logan Square, this modern Greek spot feels elevated but still welcoming. We started with the Watermelon Feta salad with avocado, olives, sweet peppers with dill and drizzled with olive oil- a good summer salad! A 10/10 experience! The server was friendly, the patio was beautiful and the food was divine. We started with the cherry tomatoes, and as someone who typically hates tomatoes, I was blown away by how delicious they were. They're served with cracked salt and Andros' house made seasoning blend and they were amazing. We also split the Feta Dip with pitas and it was one of the best appetizers I've ever had. I've driven by this place so many times and have always been so impressed by how crowded it gets during dinner time. We enjoyed their Italian sister restaurant next door for our Valentine's date that my wife and I decided to give them a try. We arrived for a week day late lunch and were immediately seated outside so we could enjoy the meal with our dog. QR codes on the tables, to help the planet and ease ordering. We came hungry, but due to most of their prices being in the 20s I we ordered two different appetizers to share and an entree to split. The calamari was the most disappointing to me. For the price over 20 I would have expected more in number, but it only consisted of a small series of baby octopus. It was a bit too salty for me as well. The roasted eggplant with an add-on of pita was a bit more suited for my pallet. Crispy vegetables are the set pairing, but I recommend adding on the pita as it was perfectly fluffy, warm, and a good hint of garlic. The vegetable pairing seemed a bit small for the roasted eggplant. Unfortunately the gyro was a let down as well. We were told it comes with fries, "it's under". So we didn't order a side of fries. We were greeted with a pleasantly appearing gyro in a wrap but the fries were probably 4-5 thick cut placed between the meat and the pita. It all felt under seasoned, dry or mostly overcooked pieces, and overall failing to satisfy a gyro crave. Unfortunately no picture of this one because we were so hungry at this point we just jumped in. If our server were to come back check to see if our meal was okay I'd probably let them know, but we were mostly left alone outside as we were the only ones out there in front. Parking is tough, mostly paid street or paid valet. Reservations would probably be a good idea for dinner dates. Outdoor seating during warmer weathers so it is per friendly. There was a party for a bridal shower when I went. For the food, I was in between the Spicy Lamb Wood Fired Pita ($19) and the Cretan ($16). I got the Cretan which I highly recommend! It's the perfect combination of protein and carbs. I loved the rosemary on top! They make their own sauces which are also delicious and flavorful. Had a decent dinner here last week. I was disappointed there was no hummus on the menu, but tried the bean dip. It was pretty good, along with the pita and tomatoes. Started out strong. The chicken souvlaki was fine, didn't have enough chicken for me. The hot sauce truly turned me off, it was sweet and I honestly couldn't even eat it. I did order without the yogurt so recognize that was a choice (dairy issues), but I think of that hot sauce and gag. Fries were good, octopus was fine. Was kind of expensive, not sure we would try it again. Restaurant was nice and service was good. All in all, not bad but the food was maybe not worth what we paid. read more

Whooo boy! Best brunch ever. Plenty of airy seating available, friendly and attentive service, and the food!!! Oh man. Everything we ordered and even the complimentary tomato snack and the coffee fredo drinks, everything was delicious and interesting. This was our second time dining here, and once again, everything was outstanding. The food is absolutely delicious, and the service was impeccable from start to finish. We especially recommend the zucchini chips and the spanakopita - both were incredible. Highly recommend! read more

Had to come here back to back just to make sure it was delicious as the last time. The answer is yes, absolutely. Come here. Located in Logan Square and has valet for $15 because parking there is dicey. This restaurants vibe is so calming and modern. We made reservations both times and it is highly recommended to do that because this place is bustling. Get the fish service. They come in different sizes for the fish and they serve it table side and filet it right there after it is cooked. We got the Greek branzino. Things I recommend: Grilled calamari - how did you guys get it that tender? Pita bread with any of the spreads- I tried the eggplant spread, mackerel spread and tzatziki spread one - all were so good and tasted fres with the pita bread that was so soft that it felt like it was made from a cloud! Lamb shank - I'm not even a big lamb eater and this was delicious. Lemon potatoes - how could you go wrong? Get the branzino! They filet it tableside and the oil and capers come on the side. Service was A+ I would recommend this place a thousand times over. Come here grab one of the midas touch cocktail, have a phenomenal meal. read more

Brunch at Andros Taverna was amazing! I had their olive oil fried eggs with tiny Cretan sausages and herbs, plus a side of crispy potato hash -- everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The pistachio freddo was such a treat too -- creamy, nutty, and not too sweet. Even the little details, like the fresh tomatoes served with olive oil, sea salt, and nuts, made the experience feel extra special and fresh. Andros Taverna serves up a tasty Greek fare in Logan Square! Having tried Mano o Mano and Bastian Asador, I am pleased to vouched that my experience at all three of the restaurants of the Eat Well hospitality group were excellent. Andros Taverna in particular is supported by a strong culinary and wait staff. From the moment upon entry to leaving, I felt welcomed, taken care of and in great hands by David and his staff. Our server, T, was the most friendly and upbeat waitress! Andros also offers a variety of dining from baked goods, brunch, to full service dinner. I particularly loved their Olympia brunch dish with a hearty serving of lamb meat, sunny side up egg (they use eggs with orange yolk!) and fresh hand cut potato fries. I love their on the vein cherry tomato appetizer with olive oil, sea salt and house made seasoning is a healthy alternative than bread service at other restaurants. We visited this place as it was around the corner from the Stan Mansion and we were seeing a show there. They also had valet parking which is a great asset when street parking is all that's available and that's hard to come by. They had outdoor seating, but we had made a reservation for indoors as one of our party has a hard time outside when the air is thick. When we arrived, every window was open and they sat us in their atrium like room. Again, every window was open, so it didn't matter where we sat. We were crammed into a table up against the front windows which thankfully, weren't open and the ones on the side of the table were, but there were no blinds and the sun beat down on us. The waiter came to our table to take our drink orders and to announce that the restaurant takes credit and cash only if in exact change as they don't have any cash to give back if you don't have exact change (then don't accept cash, duh!) I ordered the avgolemono soup and it wasn't the usual cream soup. And it was delicious. I then had the Greek chicken along with the roasted potatoes. The potatoes were mushy. I had a side of the lemon potatoes. Feel free to skip these. They're just roasted potatoes with a little lemon zest and are not worth the additional cost of an additional side. The chicken was good, but drowning in sauce. Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well, but it was nothing really to write home about over any other Greek restaurant. And with so many options available, I'd say try them and skip this place. It was very pricey anyway. read more

andros taverna was really a quality experience (8.7/10) the restaurant serves cuisine rooted in greek heritage but with a modern twist - so plenty of seafood options on the menu. you know they mean business when they fly their seafood in from greece three times a week. we ordered their sardine special and it was really delicious - nicely seasoned, doused in olive oil, and the natural flavor of sardines shone through we also got their octopus dip (skordalia) with hummus on the side and it was fantastic. the pita was freshly baked and the toastiness was truly soul-warming on the cold winter day. I personally loved the addition of the red pepper paste on top of the dip - added a slight spice and sweetness to the potato based dip. we ordered their signature roasted lemon garlic half chicken per recommendation and was blown away by how well-cooked it was. juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor from the spice rub. even the breast was perfectly cooked through - and that truly takes some skill especially when the chicken is served on the bone ended the meal with loukoumades, or what seemed to resemble small donut holes soaked in honey syrup. SO GOOD. it came out warm and gently soaked / coated with the syrup, but wasn't too sweet. Drinks: - N/A Food: - The Octopus is a must get. I don't know what they did to get it to be so tender and decadent. It's also a large portion. It is a more expensive dish, but so worth it. The portion and the quality are unmatched - The Chicken Souvlaki is good. I liked that it's a massive portion so it's actually good to share, I don't think I can eat this by myself. Nothing to really write home about, but it's a safe pick for something that's good and will fill you up - The Beets & Feta was also good. I wished there were more beets and less feta though. I did appreciate the herbaceousness, and nuttiness from the complimentary ingredients Ambience: - This place was packed, definitely should have a reservation to go here - I really liked how high up the plant placement was, it incentivized me to look up and appreciate how tall the ceilings are - This place gives off an industrial, sturdy, and concrete jungle type vibe. The plants makes the place feel more alive, but all the grey/concrete textures give off a sturdy vibe Overall: Loved the octopus and the service. The décor was interesting and well curated. It's just overall a good spot for a nice dinner. It's very loud by virtue of being packed with people, so I'm hesitant to say this is a date spot since you might find yourself yelling across the table to communicate. Amazing amazing!! The ambiance is awesome, very sexy and intimate. Everything on the menu looked good so it was hard to choose. We got a spread of appetizers with pita bread (so softs just melts in your mouth) and we order fry anchovies- so much flavor! Then we order whole fish and lamb chops and t-bone with a side of Greek greens. Then for dessert, the baklava frozen yogurt DELICIOUS I'm not a dessert person but it was worth trying and I almost ate half of it even though u didn't order it lol but I couldn't resist. Make aure you try that! It's so fire We can't wait to return to and try other items!! If you can help it don't drive parking was hard to fine it was Friday night. I came here for dinner and it was a lovely experience. Our server was nice patient and sweet. He served us a free app of tomatoes and oil. My favorite part was the house made seasoning of garlic and pepper blend. I ordered the cheese pie that I saw so many reviews about. It was super tasty but I recommend sharing unless you looove cheese. After too many bites, you'll loose interest. The pistachios really add additional texture to the dish. Additionally, I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki. The plating is massive and the gyro is big as well. I felt the chicken was season welled and slightly juicy. Everything was delicious but I felt paying $24 for a chicken gyro was wild (hence the reason for my rating) otherwise, I'm returning for brunch and dinner once more. read more
