I brought in my Chow Chow Rotty, who has a ton of thick fur and sheds like crazy, grooming him is no small job, and I've done it myself, so I know the effort it takes. With the previous owners, Rotty would be kept there from morning until late afternoon, and he'd come home thirsty and needing to pee badly. The environment also didn't feel very welcoming, which left me uneasy. Now, with the new team, the change is incredible. The place smells clean, looks spotless even the kennels and they actually let you walk your dog to the back and settle them in yourself. It's reassuring to see the grooming and holding areas and know exactly where your pet will be. Very transparent. They keep their doors locked because the staff are usually in the back grooming pets, but there's a sign asking you to call, it's just a security measure, and once they come to the door, you're greeted so warmly it feels like walking into someone's home. Most importantly, they take amazing care of Rotty. The longest he's ever been there is 2 hours, which is incredible given the amount of fur he has. I truly feel safe and comfortable leaving him in their care. I highly recommend this place if you want your fur baby treated with love, respect, and professionalism. I was charged a dematting fee of 50 dollars for two dogs, but all my dogs were shaved downed even the one that wasn't matted. My wife almost cried when she woke up from her nap and saw the dogs haircuts. When I paid for them, I assumed my wife told the groomer to cut them this short, but she didn't. I feel like if they were just going to be shaved down I could have took them to PetSmart for half the price or shaved them myself. This is the exact review I left this place and someone responded explaining that they were sorry for not communicating that the dogs needed to be completely shaved and the groomer just assumed since my other two matted dogs needed to be shaved it was ok to give the unmated dog the exact same ugly haircut.

I thought I was getting my dog a bath, nail reduction (with dremel tool) and gland expression (which cost 10 dollars more) out the door for about $50. Again, more than I had usually found for the basics. To my surprise, when I went to check out they decided to charge me over $20 for additional brushing they had to do for heavy shedding. Ugh, folks, I've gone to groomers with this dog for the last 8 years, in two counties, and never had someone throw that one at me as not being part of the bathing process, especially since we already had an agreed upon price for Polished Pups services. I have no complaint about their work; however, having been a contractor for 40 years, before I retired, I know you don't switch prices on a client at the end of a job...especially with no warning or discussion before you throw a new charge at them. I won't return to this business, not because of poor work, but because of poor business practices. I was just glad to get out the door with my dog and leave Polished Pups in the dust.

I take two of my gals every other month for summer trims, they have sensitive bellies so I always request they not be shaved to avoid razor burn. The last place I was taking them would only follow this request half the time but I have not had a single issue with GDG. They also follow little instructions like leaving a poof at the end of their tails like a lion's or trimming a little mohawk on one of them. The owners are super sweet and very caring, juggling two little dogs can be tricky but they always offer assistance getting them out to my car during pickup. Be sure to call and schedule an appointment though, the can be booked pretty far in advance.
