    S'mores donut
    Ashely V.

I was at the Milwaukee Public Market today with a friend and had to stop at the pop up shop to try Sugar Cube Donuts. I've been hearing about them and seeing awesome pictures of them online, so today was my day. I was a little surprised to see they were averaging $4/donut, but they're pretty large and thought it would be worth a try. I ordered the s'mores donut and my friend ordered the sprinkles donut. I was really surprised when I bit into mine that it wasn't a traditional donut base, it's actually quite yeasty. The icing or glaze on top is super sweet and, I'm not really sure how to describe it, but it's a little over powering for the rest of the donut. My friend felt the same way about hers as well. These are certainly large enough to share with several people, I don't think I'd ever be able to eat a whole one by myself in one sitting. If these donuts were bite-sized and you could get maybe 4-6 pieces to a pack instead of one super large donut that would be awesome. It's certainly a fun donut stop for the novelty of it, but if I were going to buy donuts for the office or the weekend I'd rather go to a traditional bakery.

I finally was able to snag a box of these pop up donuts! We preordered last weekend and pick up at the Kind Oasis was super easy. The donuts are flavorful without being cloyingly sweet. My favorites were the Peach, lemon poppyseed, and an afternoon tea donut. The puppy chow was okay but I'm not a huge fan of chocolate. Overall, if you can get your hands on some sugar cube donuts, DO IT! You won't regret it.

Menu pic of said "Berry Blast" SugarCube Donut - gorgeous, right? Where can I get THAT one??

Round Two! We had pre-ordered this box prior to checking them out last time. This box looked much better and very much like the photos they had posted on Instagram. How'd they taste? Not bad... Fruit Loops: stale chewy cereal. Maybe stay away from cereal on donuts? And whatever cereal that was it wasn't actual Foot Loops lol. Spicy Chai: zero flavor. Tasted like a plain glazed donut. I love chai. I have it every other day. This was no chai. Cinnamon Roll: the cute little cinnamon roll on top of the donut was hard and dry. But the donut itself was decent! Tasty cinnamon icing. PB&J: the best one! It was pretty wet inside but outside was intact and the flavors were excellent.

Sugar cube donuts took me by surprise as to how awesome they are! They are hand made donuts with the wildest combo of flavors! A must try

I got donuts for one of their pop ups at a hotel cafe. There was one employee running the stand and even though there was a line she made an effort to greet everyone making Conversation. I am not someone who goes looking for Sweets but when I get that craving once in A blue moon I'm eating sugar cubes donuts the donut boxes pure quality they don't skimp on ingredients every bite is as good as the next. The monkey bread and pecan donut are by far must haves and goes well with a latte. These donuts compliment coffee but are great stand-alone treats

I was craving a donut…read moreyesterday morning, and Donut Monster was right by my hotel, so it seemed like a sign that I just had to get one! However, even thought I went at around 8am, my donut tasted stale and unusually crunchy. The chocolate icing did not taste like chocolate at all, kind of more like maple. I was excited to try the cream filling, but that also fell short. It was way too sugary that it was grainy, and it the texture was so thick it was almost like a custard. I don't know if I just ordered the wrong donut and that's why I had a bad experience, but I don't think I will be going back and trying anything else at Donut Monster.

We picked up 6 donuts and a pack of English muffins to go, and split one of their amazing breakfast sandwiches before we hit the road. There are a few tables to sit and enjoy a coffee and bite to eat. The crispy bacon, fluffy egg, and melty sharp cheddar cheese spread on one of their mile high English muffins is the perfect combo. So good! We tried a lemon poppyseed, something with a blackberry preserve, one with chocolate and a yummy buttercream on top, a classic vanilla glazed, buttermilk with chocolate and sprinkles and one with vanilla and sprinkles. It's not cheap, but everything was delicious and the friendly staff are extremely helpful and kind.

I've been wanting to stop by for a very long time - and finally did so recently. Thanks to the…read moreattendant at the front counter who patiently answered by questions. I frequently like to ask what are some of the most popular items people buy when I go to a new place and aren't familiar with the offerings. There were a number of things on the menu - a variety of hot dogs, boba teas, and tornado potatoes. When I was there, several customers were enjoying a large bowl of shaved ice with toppings - that seemed to be popular. There are a few seats to hang around while snacking/eating. There is a large public parking lot just behind the shop up the hill, a conveniently located spot. I picked up a 3-pack of Mochiring doughuts, with the following flavors: mango; churro; brown sugar. The doughnuts were placed in a rectangular box which made it easy to carry home. Because it was hot, I ordered a fruit boba tea- mango with green tea and with mango-flavored popping boba. It was my first time to have the popping boba. The green tea plus the mango, which was recommend by the cashier/front counter attendant was really good. After trying the popping boba, it was fine, but I personally prefer the regular boba (I think it is a personal preference). I'd definitely get the green tea and mango combo again. The doughnuts were light and airy, and I like the fact they are small, sliightly smaller than bite-sized rounds. I'll come back another time to try the famous hot dogs - and I'd come again for the doughnuts, too. I recommend stopping by if you want to try something new.
