Despite all the negativity I had seen, I decided to give this place a chance when I ordered it off Uber eats as my job was a ten/twelve minute ride so I didn't expect much to go wrong. Which was my mistake. I ordered a Nutella shake, which did look light brown, tasted like it had been started with a different flavor but just had a little chocolate thrown into it. Of course it was awful. Like almost bananas to me? Then I ordered the mini bag of donuts which was disappointing bc they put the warm donuts in the bag WITH THE SHAKE which made them soggy and cold! Why would they put those two things together in a bag? Finally I ordered caramel sauce for the donuts and it didn't even come with the order. I gave two stars simple for the fact that the milkshake was still a light brown... so the thought counted I guess. Def won't be eating from here again. read more

Hot dough rolled in cinnamon and sugar. What can go wrong?? A lot, actually! But these folks do a great job. Donuts were hot, had no excess oil when you tear into them. So I went on a "donut crawl" with some friends in Milwaukee, and this place made the agenda. At each place, I tried their most basic recommended donut--whether glaze or old fashioned buttermilk--in order to have some standard measurement/control. Now, it's tough to be objective about this place and measure it on the same scale because they're donuts are more like funnel cake... but Chubby's powdered sugar donuts actually ranked second in the city when it was all said and done (Honeydip's old fashioned cake actually won, in case you're curious). At the end of the day, your base donut is the true measuring stick of your donut-making prowess. And this place is pretty darn good. read more

One of my favorite places to go to get fresh hot donuts. The name drive thru is exactly what it implies, a drive thru. Its located on the corner of Oakland ave and North Ave also on the slanted street that begins as Kenilworth PL. This location has a drive thru and also has a full establishment that shares half of a parking lot. I like to come here with the kids and get fresh hot mini donuts. They are made on the spot and tossed with cinnamon sugar. You can also get flavored jelly to dip the donuts in. The prices are very reasonable. The Wait time is not really long at all. That if you are the person getting donuts and not he person waiting. I cant speak for them! I try not to go back so much, so that i dont gain a bunch of pounds but i like donuts. As noted, people may not be "driving thru" as much as they are walking or queueing on foot, but that may change later in the evening. Customer service: 2 out of 5 Passable. Not what I was consider to be friendly or warm, but then again if I were a college aged guy working at a mini donut shop on a Saturday morning at 11:40am, I may not see the glass as half full, either. They did thank me, and tell me to have a nice day (low bar, I know). And from a logistical perspective, I'm sympathetic to the fact that they may have to deal with a um...wide spectrum of clientele throughout the shift. Taste: 3.5 out of 5 I didn't have any real expectations going in, and admittedly - I was more interested in seeing the donuts being made than I was in how they tasted. There is a certain charm to eating hot and fresh donuts, and while these weren't the GREATEST of the genre, I'd definitely go back if I were in the area. Value: 2.75 out of 5 12 mini donuts for 4 dollars isn't the cheapest, considering you could go to the gas station after 3pm and get glazed regular sized donuts, 2 for a buck. Again, the visual "excitement" and novelty of watching the automatic machine flip up nicely fresh fried donuts plays into my slightly generous rating here. Overall: 3 out of 5 Nothing awesome. I come here singularly for the fresh mini donuts and am always pleased with them. They come in three varieties: powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, and combo. Each one is good, but for some reason I feel like getting the combo give me the most bang for my buck. Is it illogical, yeah. But for some crazy reason, I just roll with it most times. I ordered the small which is only 6 mini donuts for $2.00 bucks. I little pricey for what you get. I had the combo cinnamon and sugar plus powdered sugar. The coating was very inconsistent. They followed all of our special delivery instructions and food specifications completely! Food was great and still hot when we got it! Delivery driver was great and called us as soon as we got here.
