So firstly, we have driven by this place several times and wanted to get a closer look at the figures on the porch. Today was the day we finally went inside. I was thinking, yes, another bakery of things I probably couldn't eat, but I was surprised to find many gluten-free options right there in the case. I was so happy to finally get some gluten-free lemon bars and snickerdoodles. The cakepops and cupcakes were not gluten-free, but the employee said that they could be made gluten-free if ordered. Cool! The price was on par for a gluten-free bakery. This is a cute little shop with decorations and even has a wall or two of local crafts for sale, and a room with a sprinkle ceiling decor. The driveway is narrow, and there is limited parking behind the shop, but it's better than trying to park on the street. read more

This place is located near the very busy intersection of Austin Avenue and University Avenue in Georgetown. When you pull into the driveway they do have space for about seven cars. This is a residential home that has been converted into a bakery and retail outlet. The bakery part is ironically the smallest room in the house. The room next to the bakery is filled with hundreds of earrings and car scents. In other words, there seems to be two businesses going on here under one roof. When you do decide on your sweet treats from behind the glass counter, it will be neatly boxed up for you to go. They do make specialty cakes for special occasions, but it's a little expensive according to some yelpers. Check out the photos below for more info and pricing. read more

WOW! WOW! WOW! Shout out to CJ, for saving the day!!! I received a call from a friend in El Paso, she was upset and frantic- her sister's baby shower is on Saturday, and their cake lady cancelled on her by email. No call, no text...just an email. No explanation. I called Sugar Mommy's right now about 7 minutes ago & CJ did the DAMN THING!! She gave me a number to text my photo to, and said yes we can make that for you and we can have it ready for Saturday at 11am!!! SCORE.... not only did we end up ordering the cake to our exact decoration specifications, but she was also able to fulfill the cake flavor and filling (PUMPKIN).... THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart and from my Friend who will be coming in from El Paso with one less thing to be worried about for Saturday! Highly Favored and Highly Recommended. We walked inside to be greeted with the fabulous smell of sugar and flour. The man behind the counter was kind and helpful! We ordered an assortment of items for our anniversary to celebrate. So far we have tried the hummingbird bar and caramel bar. Both are delicious! I would have never know that the caramel bar was gluten free, which was what the owner had shared as well. My favorite was the hummingbird cake. It was well spiced and tender. We will be back, and we can't wait to try the rest of our haul! read more

We picked up a couple of the keto (sugar free) cakes for a birthday Celebration. I hate to say it but they were horrible. Not really Sugar Mommy's fault. What can you expect of a no sugar cake. Be warned though - these are only good if it is your absolute last option. They were flat and taste was no where near a cake. Sorry! read more

I had seen Sugar Mommy's in other posts and had always wanted to try it. Good gravy...they do not disappoint. Cake balls are amazing and best of all, the cupcakes are not dried out and not overly sweet. We tried them last weekend and went back today to get more. We had selected Sugar Mommy's as our bakery of choice for a recent wedding rehearsal dinner. We ordered 3 6" cakes and an assortment of cake pops, bars and cookies for the event. CJ did a FABULOUS job designing the cakes to match our dinner theme, and the taco cake pops were just the cutest things to go with our taco bar entrees. The flavors of all the desserts were mouth-watering -- there was literally nothing left at the end of the event. We had guests come up to us the next day commenting that the Sugar Mommy's desserts we served at the rehearsal dinner were better than those catered from a local Austin bakery for the wedding event. Excellent bakery for regular and gluten free customers. Huge selection of desserts, including cakes, cookies, and cake pops. Candy and special desserts are sold here as well. This place is absolutely amazing! I can't believe I've lived in Georgetown for over a year, and this is the first time I've been here. First of all, the building and and inside are adorable. It's decorated so cutely and feels so inviting. The couple who owns and runs Sugar Mommy's is so incredibly sweet! They made me feel so welcome and excited to be in there. Their baked goodies in the display case are gorgeous. I purchased sugar free chocolate cake and a pack of sugar free cake balls. Oh my goodness. They are seriously the best ever sugar free treats I have ever had the privilege of putting in my mouth. It's taking an insane amount of self control to not gobble it all up at once. The chocolate cake satisfied my intense pregnancy craving that I've had for months. The texture of the cake is just great- unlike all other sugar free cakes I've tried; it is not dry in any way shape or form. The creamy frostings on top are so luscious and decadent. I'll honestly probably go back next week for another piece! The cake balls are also amazing. To me, they're better than the regular cake balls I've had in the past. I've seen pictures of her custom decorated cakes and cake balls and they are so adorable. I fully intend on ordering something from them for my daughter's birthday later this year. This was a case of what I asked for vs what I got as you'll see from the pictures posted. I really didn't want to write a review because I'm all for supporting local and women-owned businesses, but after some back and forth with the owner about my dissatisfaction she stopped texting and there was no resolution so here we are. It seems as though the baker went rouge and did what she wanted design-wise to my cake. She was given a picture of what I wanted and said she could do it, but my cake looked nothing like requested and was very basic with laminate fixtures. At no point during the ordering process did the owner say she couldn't design the cake as pictured or that it would be an inspired look with different fixtures. When I expressed my disappointment, her response was that my daughter loved it. Respectfully, my daughter did not order nor pay for the cake and is 6 years old. While it was a pretty cake, again, it was not what I asked for and to make matters worse the cake was very dry, crumbly, and lacked flavor in the inside. We will not be ordering from here again. read more

Here's my scathing review for such an extraordinary bakery. So we walk in and immediately greeted by the two best bakers I can only assume Georgetown has to offer. We chat, it's awesome, we buy cake pops, macaroons, cupcakes and they're amazing.... no I don't think I said it loud enough for those of you in the back. THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! The cake we ordered ($90) was well decorated, but the inside of the cake was wet and dense as though it was not baked properly. It tasted of absolutely nothing and was a complete letdown. All the adults and kids hated it. I'll be using HEB instead in the future. read more

I ordered a cake from this bakery for my promotion to Major in the US Army. The cake was adorable (even though I only vaguely knew what I wanted) and delicious. It survived the 40 minute drive to Killeen in the Texas heat! The cake layers are a little thick, and the filling layers a little thin, but I attribute that to the fact that it was a two tiered cake and needed be structure. It was still delicious! And I am thoroughly impressed with how smooth the buttercream was on the outside without needing to cover it in fondant. The only fondant was what was used for the stars/stripes. Overall the service was great, too. Will definitely be returning her for my future cake needs. read more

The most amazing delicious, moist cake I have ever had. With just moving to Georgetown and asked to host a graduation party for a daughter of a friend of ours I had to find the right cake. CJ was so easy to work with and was so impressed with the cakes on her website that I knew she was the one. With no graduation ceremony we had to make it special and as you can see from the pictures it was as amazing as our UT graduate! This cake! Move over, Paul Hollywood. My family of chocoholics and sweet-toothed dessert lovers met their match with the drip cake from Sugar Mommy's! When asked what he wanted for his birthday, my dad literally said "death by chocolate." He was sooooo thrilled with his chocolate drip cake. My recommendation: Serve with vanilla ice cream and follow with a family card game to ward off the food coma. A little pricey but worth the cost for the quality of cake you're getting. Got cake pops here for my husband's birthday and they were amazing!!! I have had other Austin Cake Balls and they were so bad I threw them away. Sugar Mommy's were so soft and delicious that I will go back for sure! We ordered cookie dough, strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla and they were all good. Delicious and so creative! Ordered a variety of cake balls, cupcakes and key lime cheesecake cups for a gender reveal party, Taco Bout A Baby themed. Everything came out perfectly! They also have a super cute shop in Georgetown. I started Sugar Mommy's 14 years ago on accident. I was a graphic designer for 10 years when I made cake pops as party favors for my daughters first birthday. Being from Georgetown, word of mouth grew my business quickly! In 2017 we brought ‘Cake Slice’ in to our team and began offering more than just cake pops. Now, we are a local Go-To spot for almost anything related to desserts. We have keto, vegan, gluten friendly, cakeballs, macarons from The Magical Macaron, tarts, cupcakes and more! Our new location is amazing! This house has transformed into the coolest retail bakery in the area. My dreams came true and with the support of my family, I can’t wait to see where this little Mom and Pop bakery goes from here! I love what I do and hope it shows.

Wow! Outstanding service! I called on a Monday morning and found out they were closed but she quickly said-"How can I help?" I needed German chocolate frosting for my husband's homemade birthday cake I sent with him on a business trip as his was frosting was confiscated by TSA-arg! She had it ready for me by noon. For starters, Karissa was an absolute delight to work with as I had very specific baking requests: everything made had to be baked exclusively using dye-free ingredients and half the batch of cupcake ordered required to be gluten-free in addition to dye-free and made exclusively with munk fruit sweetener instead of standard sugar cane, due to some of my guests having high dye sensitives to sugar and some of them being highly gluten intolerant with adverse reactions to sugar cane (hence why we substituted for munk fruit on part of our order) Our order was comprised of a beautiful, very sizeable two-tier rainbow and glitter themed dye-free red velvet cake, 3 dozen mixed variety vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with rainbow frosted topping, 36x pink vanilla centered cake pops (those we not completely dye free but baked with minimal dye), and a separate batch of gluten-free, dye-free cupcakes sweetened with monk fruit instead of regular sugar cane. And Karissa is very mindful and goes to great lengths to ensure all her gluten free baked goods never get cross contaminated with non-gluten free foods so that no risks are imposed on gluten intolerant customers. She even neatly and clearly labeled everything when it arrived to my home so I knew exactly what each item was and contained. I mean when I say I had very specific requests for Karissa that's ann understatement and Karissa exceeded my expectations beyond belief! Everything went off without a hitch. Every single item tasted amazing. The icing was so creamy and rich but not overly sugary like a store bought cake where the icing is overwhelmingly sweet, which is rare. It ended up being the highlight of the party, my guests were literally coming up to me complimenting on the flavor of the cake! Even my sister who is not a huge sweet consumer took home half of the remaining gluten free cupcakes because she said despite having very sensitive digestion issues her stomach had no issues digesting the cupcakes and she consumed them with ease. (Too much sugar inflamed her stomach, these cupcakes did not) Karissa is incredibly organized, communicative, and detail-oriented. She spent nearly two hours with me during our first consultation going over exactly what I wanted. She walked me through how dye-free baking works and explained that the colors would be softer due to using natural ingredients, and she showed visual examples so there were no surprises and I knew exactly what to expect and nailed my inspiration photo I shared with her upon delivery of all the baked goods! She even sourced the extra props on her own time such as my daughter's name plates and perfectly themed candles for a cohesive cake design and checked with me before moving forward to ensure it met my expectations. She went as far as far as delivered everything I ordered directly to my front door in a very secure and sturdy, perfectly boxed cake container and securely packaged all the cupcakes in the perfectly sized compartments so everything arrived in perfect condition. She even helped me set up the cupcakes, cake pops and cake the stands I bought. Karissa 1000% went above and beyond and you felt the passion and love in the flavor of thr baked goods! The portions were also very generous -- there was barely any cake left by the end, and guests were literally taking slices home they loved it so much. Everyone left happy and full. If you are looking for cakes, cupcakes, cake pops, gluten-free options, or dye-free desserts, and even baked goods baked with munk fruit instead of regular sugar cane , I highly recommend Karissa!! She is super talented, very transparent about her process, and truly cares about getting everything right so you as the customer walk away happy with the finished product.
