Love this place! Super clean great host and fun people! Great little relaxing get away in a nice pretty little town. Enjoyed walking to the fish markets and cooking fresh fish, local restaurants close by and fishing from the dock!

This is an extremely large KOA and is classified as a "Holiday" destination, today just guessing it was less than five percent occupied which was a little surprising but then again it is off-season and with the area still recovering from the last hurricane I guess all the campgrounds are somewhat struggling. There are a variety of sites, some with concrete pads and some with grass pad and they all looked to have full hookups. There are multiple restrooms and shower facilities as well as a pool, tennis courts and other places to socialize. If I were to book a site here in the future I would definitely book a premium site with the large concrete pads which would better accommodate our Class A Motorhome. There are a number of RV Parks in the area but this probably would be a good option depending on what you plan to do while visiting the area...

Here are some of the things that were not OK - the mens room smelled of sewer, continually. It wasn't in the women's room and they are in the same building. We were kind of surprised that the camp store was empty - as in we couldn't find ice, water, or even anything. The pool was ok - but again - no one was monitoring kids jumping in, diving, etc. It scares us when this occurs and frankly, positive should have been on the parents. We had a spot on a corner when we first got there, and moved the very next day - people were loud and had unruly dogs. We were invited to find a spot we liked and we did - of note is that a view of the pond is according to them, worth half again as much as the normal site - really? Also - pretty clear that we used our own Wi-Fi here, what we heard from all others is that campground Wi-Fi sucks . One good thing - the weight room in the community center was great.

The pool area is updated and they have a new hot tub that's very nice. It probably fits about 6 people comfortably and was. never that busy when we were there. I appreciated the shade of the tiki hut and we had our pick of chairs in the sun too. We participated in water aerobics at the pool twice during our stay and had a blast! The fitness center is really nice - a bit crowded, but they have dumbbells, bikes, treadmills, and weight machines. We worked out there a bit and appreciated that it was never too crowded. The resort has many amenities, including the updated clubhouse, kitchen, pickleball courts, and a small library. The resort is mostly older couples and everyone is pretty friendly and welcoming. The resort is pristinely clean with everyone taking care of their dogs and no trash left anywhere. The clubhouse is the main gathering area for nightly activities like bingo, Left Right Center, poker, dances, dinners, and other fun events. We played Left Right Center and bingo this time - we didn't win but it was fun to hang out and join some activities. They also have parties sponsored by big RV companies, pet parades and events for holidays, and more. The community seems very tight knit. Pelican Lake is a 20 minute drive to Marco Island and 30 minutes to Naples, depending on traffic. 45 minutes from the airport, it's an easy place to get to during the winter when I need a break from snow!

The downside was the recent work on some of the sites left it very confusing as to where to set up. No worries, they changed us to a better spot. We met a nice couple (Nancy and Bill from Ohio) with their cute little dachshunds Charlie and Lucy. The pool is super clean and needless to say, I laid out too long. I would definitely recommend! The area has a key west feel.

We arrived quite late, yet were greeted by a team of guides ... we followed one in a golf cart to our space, and they helped us get parked (we're new trailer owners). My only negative is the site density. Very few trees (mostly lone palms), absolutely no privacy... you get that by retreating into your RV. Spaces are very close, and most have a second vehicle parked in parallel along the street. There are clearly lots of full time residents, so it's a bit of a mix of RV park and trailer park. Although the site density is high, it is quiet, and very well kept. As for facilities, very clean restrooms and showers, a nice laundry, book exchange room, a well stocked camper store, game rooms, a dance hall, and much more. As for pets... there are lots of dogs.. all were on leash. There is a dog park... other than that not really lots of areas to walk the dogs except on the roads. Also saw quite a few motor homes with indoor cats peering out. It's always nice along the coast to hear and watch osprey overhead... there was one near our site. The campground has three lakes that probably serve as an attraction for birds. We drove about ten minutes to delicious pizza at Pine Island Pizza, and in the morning drive in the other direction to a very nice breakfast at Ragged Ass Saloon (yes, breakfast was great there!). We were considering grilling something for dinner, but no camp grill was at our space, and we don't yet have one. Pine Island is a unique and slowly vanishing look into old coastal Florida, so being able to stay in our trailer overnight was nice.

Also it is 55 and older, but they have to meet a certain % of under 55 residents/ guests The people at the front were extremely nice and pleasant, every one we encountered walking our dog was also friendly and pleasant. However, we were not informed of a garbage pick up and the dumpsters are kind of in the back of the 'park' by the dog park. The dog park was awesome because we have a new puppy who has one last set of shots she needs so she got to run off leash when there were no doggies there. She really enjoyed that. There is a hose and a water bowl and a tennis ball. The sites are **extremely** small. Our mobile park home (not an RV a permanent type of trailer home) that was on the one side of us when she let her dog out on a tether the dog was able to go under our RV. If you are looking to be friendly with people and consider staying longer than a weekend and want to live that close to someone this would be a great place for you. If you want some free space to enjoy outdoors this is not the place for you. Also we were told no fires at all unless propane but we saw other homes / sites with real wood fires so I am assuming they do not follow up on things.

Anyone looking to support a quiet waterfront community should certainly consider this gem. Parking in navigation can sometimes be tricky. So consider utilizing the paid parking and security offered by the Pineland Marina Safe Harbor next-door. The twisty windy Road past the historic post office, the Randall research center, and all the grounds of this archaeological treasure trove is worth the drive. But I would not encourage anybody to bike or walk due to limited unsafe pathways and frequent flooding. But once you find your sweet parking spot and don't have to worry about anything. Have lunch at the tarpon Lodge and then walk all through the community of pineland and gaze upon this country club-esque neighborhood that is anchored by an abandoned golf course. Local wildlife is rebounding in this potential preserve. Bird watches especially have opportunities to check rare sightings off of their ornithology list. Including spring time elusives like the Chuck Wills Widow nightjar, white pelicans, juvenile bald eagles looking for their life mates, pileated woodpeckers and so much more. And if you're lucky and you play your cards right, a local might give you a couple fishing tips and some secret spots. So always have a fishing pole and bait ready.
