LOVE HEATHER & Sugar Water Lemon. I've been getting sugared over Waxed for 4 years and haven't looked back. Saying this, I've visited about 4 different sugaring spots in newport and costa mesa and they don't compare or come close to Sugar Water Lemon. I moved to mexico city for a year but would come see heather when i would visit because she was that good. Her pricing is incredible reasonable especially compared to most places which charge $75+ - i pay $40 for my brazilian maintenance which i come in for every 5-6 weeks!! Absolutely not. I need to find a new regular sugar place because my lady is retiring, so I went here to start with an underarm sugar service to see how it was. It was VERY painful, so I can only imagine how a brazilian would be here. The sugar tubs were just sitting out and not in a warmer so the sugar was cold and stiff and nearly ripped my skin every time she applied it. Regardless of the quality of the sugar she didn't swap it out and by the time she got to the other arm the sugar was so sticky it was stuck around each of her fingers. All I heard was the ripping of her gloves as she tried to continue using it. The table was also at an angle and super stiff and uncomfortable. Most places also have towel warmers, but this place doesn't so afterward she pulled out a dry towel and ran it under luke warm water for me to use. The whole experience was just half assed compared to the quality of experience I am used to at other places. I even told her I was looking for a regular place and she didn't seem too interested in wanting to make sure I felt comfortable enough to come back. I'm very confused about all the good reviews because sugaring is not supposed to be a painful experience, if done right. I've been getting brazilian and underarm sugar services for 8 years and sugaring has never been painful like it was here. read more

Been coming to Heather to get Brazilians since that fateful day in 2016 when I ran into a Groupon for her sugaring studio... but I've just recently started yelping, so this is long overdue ! I got my first ever Brazilian here. From the get-go, I felt at ease by Heather as she's very kind and easy to talk to. This potentially embarrassing, frightening and painful process turned out to be quick and easy, I was so surprised that it didn't feel like torture!! Over time I've gotten quite used to sugaring and yes I've tried other sugaring studios when I moved out from OC, but no studios have won me over like Sugar+Water+Lemon. I've always done waxing on my face and wanted to try sugaring and I love it way better. It doesn't feel as rough and it leaves my face smoother, and it seems to last longer until my next visit . First time trying sugaring and it's really great! I usually go for waxing but I heard that sugaring is a lot less painful. Heather was absolutely amazing. She worked really fast and comforting. We had a great conversation the whole time which really help take my mind off the pain. She explained the history of sugaring and how it's more beneficial than waxing because (1) your hair grows out thinner (2) you get less hair growing out (3) waxing pulls out layers of your skin while sugaring only pulls out the dead layers and hair. Booking the appointment was quite easy, I tried calling twice but it went to voicemail so I tried booking on Yelp. Heather ended up texting me and we made a quick reservation then. Finding the place was a little hard but luckily she told me that it was next to Core Yoga, the navigation took me to the wrong destination. I would recommend typing in Core Yoga in your navigation. Pricing is a little expensive (without a coupon), but sugaring makes your hair grow out slower so you can wait 90 days until the next appointment! read more

I first found Sugar Water Lemon a little more than two years ago on Groupon when they were offering discounted sugaring. It was such a good deal I had to make an appointment. My first experience was actually very pleasant. Heather was super nice and talked me through the entire process and how to properly maintain a Brazilian sugaring. The first time was super painful, but luckily Heather was super quick and fast about it. I have been to other sugaring places since then just to explore and get a feel for different sugaring places that are a bit closer to home for me, but nothing compares to the excellent job Heather does every time. The most recent time, she was able to squeeze me for a last minute appointment, which I was so grateful for. It was Memorial Day Weekend, so I thought it would be impossible. I was running a bit late due to the bad weather and traffic and ended up arriving 10 minutes late, but nonetheless Heather was still able to fit me into her busy schedule. The process was quick (as usual) and Heather is always so sweet and she is always making sure you're okay and it's not too painful. Heather always has the best service and I always enjoy coming here. Sugar Water Lemon is my to go to sugaring place and I highly recommend coming here for all your sugaring needs. read more

I have tried waxing before, but this was my first time sugaring and I was really pleased with the results. My hair didn't grow back until about 3 weeks later and with hardly any ingrown bumps. It is a couple months later and the hair is growing back slower than before. It was also less painful than a wax. I used a Groupon for a great discount. Heather was pleasant to talk to and even offered me a discounted rate for future visits since I had less hair. The only issue was that my appointment had to be booked 2 weeks in advance and was delayed about 20-30 minutes when I got there, but understandable since she was booked non-stop over the summer. This place is located within the Phenix suites on the second floor of the shopping complex, within the center area suites that don't have windows - definitely a small place, but easy to find. Parking is abundant and free for 2 hrs in the shopping center lot. Unfortunately I have moved away but I would have definitely come back a second time. read more

This was my first time waxing ever, let alone sugaring. Honestly, I was scared to try waxing because of the pain. But who isn't, because we know waxing isn't going to ever be completely painless. Before I tried sugaring, I used to periodically get bikini or Brazilian waxes. I have extremely sensitive skin and after each wax my body would have very negative reactions. My thought was the extreme discomfort and pain after waxing (usually lasting about a week) was sometimes worth it when compared to shaving. When I heard about sugaring and all the positive claims I was skeptical thinking it was too good to be true. Gladly, I have been proven wrong! Heather is absolutely amazing at what she does and my skin doesn't have the same terrible reaction as it did with waxing. I've been going to Sugar Water Lemon for years now! Sugaring is the way to go. Once you try it, you'll never go back to painful waxing again. The skin is super soft after sugaring and the pain is significantly lower (to me it's not even comparable to waxing). Heather is just amazing!!! Saw Heather yesterday for the first time. I had high hopes - considering her 5 star track record on Yelp - and they were met/exceeded. I should preface this with two things: I am extremely sensitive to brazilian waxes/sugaring (is anyone not??) and I have gone to enough different places to have a good point of reference on how painful it can be vs. how painful it should be... In any case, this was the least painful experience I have ever had. I started out extremely tense (anticipating the pain level would match my prior experiences) and was quickly able to relax a bit - as it was surprisingly much less unpleasant than usual. Heather is professional, experienced, sweet and just plain great at what she does. This is a late review for Heather! She's the coolest chick ever as she preps you and answers ALL of your questions. I've asked her probably 20 questions in the session haha! First off, I found her very reasonable deal on Groupon. I got sugared before at Bronzed in Long Beach and had a pretty good time there, but Heather totally beat them out of my experience as hers was just more intimate and thorough. She was very professional and had me sign in, using my Groupon to check in, and then left the room for me to change. She came back and explained the honey/sugar/lemon combo (even though she knew it was my second time around) and had it warmed up and ready to go! Of course, this process is never the easiest, but it wasn't as painful with her conversing with me casually and we actually got to talking about random things including our lives and such. Heather made the experience very comfortable as if she was your good ol' roommate in college, catching up like she's prepping you for a date. Afterwards, she explains the follow-up care and other future deals so that you could make another appointment with her. She also was very responsive through text and answered more questions after the sugaring session. Ladies, give it a go if you've been wondering whether you're tired of painful Euro-waxing procedures!
