SUGAR FREE!!! I REPEAT!! SUGAR FREE!!!!!! Why is it so hard to find this in San Diego?? My girlfriend can't eat sugar and I wanted to surprise her for her birthday with a sugar free cake. I looked everywhere and couldn't find anyone that could work with a 24-hour turn time (they were also like $60-$90 per cake, no thanks!). Thank God for SugarBears! I nearly gave up but thankfully I came across these guys online. I called in an order on a Friday afternoon and was able to pick up the next day! I couldn't get a full cake, but honestly, their little cupcakes are better because you can get a great variety that's easy to share. According to the worker I picked up from, they have 28 sugar free recipes! Ordered 6 sugar free cupcakes: 2 Double Chocolate, 2 Chocolate Strawberry, and 2 Cinnamon Roll. All were fantastic!! The Cinnamon Roll was my favorite, but my girlfriend LOVED the chocolate cupcakes. The frosting was so buttery! No fake sweeteners either as far as I could tell. How have I missed this place? I live 4 miles and away and love Harumama across the street. Pros: yummy all the way around. Cinnamon cupcake was just the right amount of sweetness! The bear paw was good for me, but it's a lot for the ordinary human:). Way to share! German chocolate cupcake was like eating mom made. Cons: gotta look for it, certainly didn't stand out. Really disappointed by recent customer service experience. Too much work to order a cake for a dog this time around. Disappointing since I have had mostly positive experiences in the past. Attempted to order a cake 3+ weeks out (they require 2 weeks) and was told they could maybe work me in for a cake and she proceeded to count cakes for that day. I was told if they could fit me in they would let me know. Never called back so I called them and was grilled about the size of the cake. I called back and cancelled.. too much hassle for a dog cake. Trying to support a local business just does not pay off sometimes. If they have a cake limit then that should be stated upfront. Will be ordering a cake online now. Hopefully they revert back to what was good customer service and quality people Answering the phone. read more

We found SugarBears through our wedding venue (Cuvier Club) and used them as our baker. They offer a tasting box with a dozen flavors, which is quick and easy to do in your own time. These were probably the best cupcakes we've ever had and choosing just 6 flavors (per our package with the venue) was extremely difficult. We chose to also do a 6" ceremonial cake, and Renalto worked with us on the design. He sent some examples that we could choose from and was also open to inspiration photos if we had something specific in mind. You can also rent cupcake stands from them for an extra cost. The final cake exceeded our expectations - it even had a touch of glitter in the frosting which made it feel so elegant and special! Everything of course tasted delicious and our guests are still talking about it. We will now be regulars at SugarBears for future birthdays and special occasions! read more

We had a surprise long walk from Petco park. My little kid needed to use their restroom so I asked. They were sure kind and said we didn't even have to buy anything. The treats are beautifully displayed and it got me. While I was waiting I order a chocolate chip cookie stuffed with peanut butter ganache and dipped in chocolate! Where do I start to express my gratitude and love for Sugarbears? Yesterday, was my son's 5th birthday and we ordered his cake from Sugarbears. I knew they would do a fantastic job but when I saw his cake I was speechless. It was better than the inspiration photos. They are always busy making cupcakes and other sweets but their preparation area and facility are always clean and inviting. I love that you can watch them decorate as you pick out your cupacake order. Open kitchens are refreshing and fun for the whole family! In addition, the staff from owner, Renato, to head designer/decorator, Jun, to the person packaging up the orders are so nice and always smiling. I placed my order with Jun and he listened and viewed a photo of what my son wanted. He made excellent suggestions on decorating ideas and ensured our cake would be great. (Understatement of the year!) I requested my in-laws pick-up the cake and it went smoothly on pick-up day. The cake was packaged up securely and was easy to transport. Sugarbear staff went above and beyond on decorations for the cake. It was the most impressive cake I have ever seen in my life. We received so many compliments and people asking who made the cake. I definitely will use Sugarbears again for my families cake/cupcake needs. Thank you everyone at Sugarbears! My son and his friends could not stop looking at the cake.
