I (used to) love Suite. Now we're that weird couple that broke up and still have feelings for each other, but don't know what to do with them. Pros: I've been going consistently every two weeks for about 6 months, and the Friday and Sat drag shows are always a crowdpleaser. (I bring all my friends who haven't seen one, and they love it!) I usually order a few (cheap!) drinks and chat up with the bartenders. They make good cosmos and gin/tonics. The crowd is a bit varied - ranging from your boys next door to (non-DILF) dads, but I guess that's because this is the *ONLY* gay bar in the UWS. I'm not complaining, most guys are cute. However... Cons: I went back now that it's summer, and a lot has changed. It's almost like the change most NYC high school girls get between their junior and senior years: you notice they're different (it's probably the nose), but you can't quite put a finger on it... My go-to bartenders no longer work, and the owner now storms around with a chip on his shoulder. Obviously high on some power trip (or in a constant state of panic because he can't keep employees), he hired a twink-y boy from Columbia who demands you order 2+ drinks immediately upon walking in. I understand that times are tough, but at least let us ladies sit down first... especially when a show is going on! We didn't order anything, and the bartender bounced over to the owner to tell him. Subsequently, we were told to leave - all within 10 minutes of walking in! And during the queen's performance!! Who interrupts a Queen when she's singing?? I wanted to talk to the manager to understand. Within 5 minutes of our conversation, he interrupts to go turn on the next song of the performance (understandable), and then spend the entire song flicking the light switch on and off so there was some "stage effect" (not understandable). I ended up paying for my drink that I couldn't even finish and left with my friends who were kicked out. It's sad that this is the only bar Upper West Side gays can flock to, but I guess I'll just have to suck up with the subpar bartenders and new management until something better comes along. read more

Went last weekend on a Saturday night with a few girlfriends, thinking the bar will be nice and packed with fun people .. But that was NOT the case. We went in and it was the complete opposite of "fun people", there was about 10 people there who looked bored and the people who worked there looked like they hated their jobs. The guy checking I.D's checked our I.D's with his IPhone flashlight and the music wasn't all that great (it was just someones IPhone play-list on shuffle) The drinks were watery along with a credit card minimum. After sitting down sipping on a watery drink for 15 mins while watching the Golden Girls on the T.V, the girls and I left. (It hurt my soul not to drink that drink after paying $13 for it but I just couldn't drink it) With a barely touched beer and some drinks left the table, we said our goodbyes .. We wouldn't be going back to Suite. read more

Went here for a drag show and had an amazing time, but then my coat was stolen in sub-freezing weather (26 degrees Fahrenheit). After spending about $100 on drinks and tip, I was just told by the grinning gentleman bartender "that sh1t's gone", without helping me look for the coat or anything. So I left, in a t-shirt in the dead of winter to the audible sniggering of the bartender and his coterie. In the end these people gleefully reminded me that I am, exactly who I am, a fool with just enough money for too many drinks and now without enough money for a new coat. Fabulous experience as always. I have become a regular at Suite and love the friendly neighborhood atmosphere. Classic gay dive bar with weekly drag shows (even during COVID! Within the safety guidelines of course...), and great cocktails at dive-bar prices. Highly recommend if you are looking to make friends, enjoy a cocktail, or just want to listen to some pop and disco classics. Shout out to all of the bartenders and employees who make Suite such a fantastic and uplifting bar. 10/10 recommend. :) read more

I remember reading once that most friendships are based primarily on proximity, and since Suite is the only gay bar in my neighborhood, we've become really good friends. I really like how laid back and inclusive it is; the only attitude you'll get is from the drag queens. I must admit, I've never been a huge fan of drag, but I'm quite taken with Suite's weekend residents, Britney Houston and Sahara Davenport. They perform to ridiculous pop songs, and it can be a lot of fun. And speaking of proximity, Suite benefits from the ultimate convenience; it shares a sliding door with Bombay Frankie. So once you're good and drunk, you can walk next door and get a delicous frankie. read more

Suite is probably the best kept secret in all of Manhattan. It's a throw back to the very best gay bars of the 80's. No judgments. And a place that attracts everyone and all types: straight & LGBTQ. The most fun you'll have in an evening. Excellent lighting. Amazing Karaoke shows. Gorgeous and talented drag queens. Delish Indian food right next door. And very cool friendly staff. this might be my new gay bar. unpretentious, a little divey, and live entertainment. long happy hour to like 10 or something. But after happy hour prices are TOO high. like whoa! high. I like that the crowd isn't overly polished and the bartenders are normal looking. They keep their shirts on. Ben was my bartender, very nice. I don't feel judged when I go in. I haven't been back to this spot in a few years so we thought that we would give it another try. I think it got worse. The music was all over the place and not danceable unless you were already three sheets to the wind. The drag show was all of 10 minutes before she took a break. I would love to continue to support, but we just didn't have that great of a time for a place so far uptown. read more

this place is sooo much fun! I live in WeHo so I'm not a New Yorker but as you can imagine we have amazing LGBTQ bars in my hood. This place did not disappoint. I've had some disappointing drinks here, and been privy to some frighteningly bad drag acts on Saturday nights, but apart from being a neighborhood convenience, this is not a destination bar. The little Indian joint next door (Roti Roll) is co-owned by Suite and a good greasy hangover remedy. read more

A cozy little bar where everyone would eventually know your name. 2 of my friends and I got there on a saturday night /sunday morning and found it to be a pretty fun place to be. After the identity confused drag-queen/trannie lip-synced and harassed the patrons, the dance floor opened to tunes from a bartender's ipod, connected to the house speakers. Super lively fun place to go dancing and enjoy a good show. We kind of stumbled upon this place and ended up staying for a few hours. The performers were amazing, the music was great, very old school but upbeat. The drinks were at a good price. It's a little small but definitely a fun place to check out by campus. read more

It's unfortunate that a night among drag queens, gays and allies, our time had to be cut short because of an insensitive staff. The staff asked our party of three to leave not long before our arrival because not all of us had ordered a drink by the second time they came around. Cant believe I've lived in this neighborhood for five months now and have barely experienced Suite. Wow I had an amazing time on Saturday. I made lots of new fabulous friends, and ah! There are hot straight men in the crowd too! perfect place to score some new BFFs and possibly some new BFs. There were two different drag performers who were fn awesome!! Amazing time. So this place is not so bad I'd say! It's your typical neighborhood gay bar. Strong drinks for cheap prices. Drag, kareoke, dancing, it's all there. Do not expect any glitz, glam or pretention. From the outside this place looks ultra sketchy. After living a block away from it for 3 years I finally checked it out (and Im sooo glad I did). Just about everything at Suite is an A+. The staff is super nice (which I'm starting to see is untrue about most NYC joints), the music is perfect and the ambiance is as good as it comes. Thursday nights karaoke will definitely promise you a good time especially if you miss the 90s. I think Ill be back soon since I definitely miss the 90s. Suite is a fantastic time and a great place to come on the Upper West Side just to dance and have fun. I've been twice, both on Sunday nights. The first time we came, there was karaoke and an awesome drag queen show at midnight. They didn't have either the second time we came, but it was still so much fun. Their playlist is on point. A lot of throwbacks (I Wanna Dance With Somebody, It's Raining Men, etc.). There are couches and tables that line the left side of the bar, which are great for taking a breather in between dancing! read more

The drag queen I saw here was unbelievably awesome. Puts on a great show. The drinks aren't cheap, but are pretty good, and everyone here seemed nice and friendly. The only negative I'd say is the small space; it can get pretty cramped. If you're looking for a "clubbier" place or a place to dance in crowds, this isn't it. So impressed with the owners and staff! A purse was left behind and they went out of their way to help find the true owner and preserve it until it could be returned! When returned, everything - phone, keys, credit cards, even cash - was there. It's good to know that there are still honest and good people that go out of their way to do the right thing.
