I honestly never thought I would have to leave a review like this, but the way that this situation has been is extremely disappointing and unacceptable. On May 29, I accidentally sent $300 via Zelle to this business, specifically Stephanie Mitchell. It was an honest mistake--the money was intended for a different service provider. I immediately reached out, provided the transaction receipt, and on June 1 was told it would be looked into by her and was hopeful it would be resolved without issue being that she had been my stylist for over a year at that point. I was beyond patient and gave plenty of opportunity for this to be resolved. Instead, weeks went by. I followed up multiple times, provided proof of the transaction again, and even sent a formal Zelle payment request, and a Zelle bank dispute. The $300 was never returned, and my messages were quickly ignored. What is most upsetting isn't the original error--it's the decision to keep the money and stop communicating. Mistakes happen. How you choose to handle them says a lot about your business. I would have much rather resolved this privately and moved on. I gave multiple opportunities for that to happen. Unfortunately, after being ignored for weeks over $300 that was never owed for services, I feel it's important to share my experience. I took my daughters for a haircut yesterday afternoon. Janna was super sweet and friendly. My girls are ages 7 & 4 so I know cutting there hair could be a challenge but Janna was so professional and did not get annoyed by my 4 year old constantly moving her head. She was super gentle when combing there hair too which was nice! She washed, cut, blow dried and curled both of there hair. My girls loved it. They left feeling like princesses. So let me start off by saying that this is going to be a long review. First, I found this salon listed and contacted KIMBERLY regarding what I wanted done to my hair. Showed her pictures of the hair styles and colors that I wanted and told her I have had a bad experience with the last salon doing my hair and not knowing / or listening to what I wanted, and I paid all this money and it was the wrong color. But everything else was good, which she said "she knew how to do it and it wouldn't be a problem" ( as probably all stylists would say) and I told her that I was mixed and that it's hard for people who don't know what they are doing, to do it right ! She stated that the pictures I sent could be done. I was told that it would be $250, $275 at most depending on how much color she had to use. Mind you, my hair is to my shoulders. She said she takes a deposit up front ( which I have NEVER done before for any salon I have been to ) so she told me it was $75. So I paid it. ( Found out later she charges $50 deposit from other clients ) smh. . Then the next day she text me asking if I could pay her in advance and she would throw in the haircut ( which was apparently $20) I told her no, because I have never been to her before and I prefer to wait until services were rendered before I paid anything. Fly to the day of with a set appointment of 1:30p I get a text asking to move it to 1:45p, then a text saying 2:30p then a text saying 3p and I finally show up and still have to wait as she took 2 more clients on the day of MY appointment. So fast forward where she is doing my hair in between other peoples hair. Annoying. She then looks at the pictures again for what I wanted and stated that they were "AI" not real so my hair wouldn't look like the pictures, after I told her what I wanted WEEKS beforehand. Then she makes side comments about her arms hurting because of doing my hair. Then says "JK". sure. . #unprofessional. Fast forward I, her and her boyfriend ( who came later ) are the only ones left in the building until AFTER closing hours. ( Her boyfriend was there in the middle of doing my hair right after the last stylist left, so that I'm sure had something to do with time management as well ) She gets my hair grey at the ends which I was happy about. ( Only to find out later that the first time I washed it, using the correct shampoo as well 5 days later, that all the grey is out and I am now blonde ) Temporary color ? Tried to charge me extra for it ? hmmmmm. . So she then proceeds, I was there for 8 hours. I have NEVER been in a salon that long, especially with my hair short to my shoulders. My hair is naturally curly, So she then proceeds to cut my hair while curly, which I asked her if she knew what she was doing ( She stated that she knew how to cut it while curly ) I was nervous because I AGAIN, NEVER get my hair cut while curly only after or before being straightened. She was just chopping away. I asked for bangs and didn't get them, asked for layers, instead she decided on her OWN accord to thin my hair out, because she thought it was to BULKY. I'm Black and Spanish. I never approved this. So she then chopped my hair in all different places and uneven. I have had it curly the whole 2 months since then so when I straightened it, I seen how uneven it is, how dried out it is and looks like crap. It looks like I have extensions in the bottom of my hair that are cheap and in 1 spot. I WILL NOT WEAR MY HAIR DOWN AS IT IS SO UNEVEN and now I have to find a different stylist somewhere else to fix it. She finishes up my hair and goes to tell me the price is $430. WHATTTT !!!!!! This is not what we agreed on. So I paid her $250 and regret that ! Shouldn't of given her anything to be honest. I blocked her and was done with her as I was so mad about the process. She then went ahead to message my husband and try to get him to pay the rest but I told him no. I would NEVER go back to her again ! I do not recommend her either. She has no idea what she is doing when it comes to mixed hair and I should of went to the manager about this to inform them, but I didn't #regret. I got my hair done by Stephanie Mitchell on October 14th. The inspo I sent her was full blonde almost even platinum not only did I not get what I asked for, it was also done VERY poorly. I tried to get in contact with her to get it fixed but was left on seen, when I double texted asking for a refund I was even okay with a partial refund because i was getting my hair fixed elsewhere as I wasn't comfortable with her anymore, she continued to not see the issue and left me on seen again. I called Suite one to speak to Alexis McArthur ( store owner ) multiple times about the situation, when I finally got her on the phone and she came on the phone immediately seemed annoyed, I told her nicely about my issues and she immediately turned it down saying each stylist is their own business? During the consultation we didn't feel rushed at all, She really took her time trying to understand what type of style my mom felt comfortable with. My moms hair before was DAMAGED; but after rubi was done with it it was so soft my mom couldn't stop running her fingers through it on the way home. I have been coming here since Katherine arrived as I follow her. She is amazing with blond hair's she was able to fix my hair and get me to where I'm happy. It took forever to find her now that I have or I'm going to go wherever she goes! Went here to see someone I was recommended to see. I will leave her name out for now. But will come back to update if she doesn't fix this problem. I came in for highlights a a trim. Showed her a photo and explained exactly what I wanted. I wanted some face framing highlights and also just some highlights to blend in my grown out hair since it's been since before pandemic since I got my hair done. $400 spent for a botched color job by Angela. My request of a partial refund ($150) was immediately denied. There are plenty of other salons and stylists to choose from. I strongly suggest going elsewhere. I recommend verifying that any salon you choose is licensed; info on looking up licenses is below. I went in requesting a light purple color. Balayage ($250) lifted the color as hoped and my hair was super blonde. After applying the purple fashion tone, my hair came out very dark. Mostly brown. The purple was only recognizable under very strong LED lighting. Under typical lighting and natural lighting, my hair looked like a dusty brown color. After some discussion, Angela offered to "fix" my hair by applying more purple (without lightening my hair again). My hair is now brown, so applying more color would not lead to the results I paid for, as explained to me by other hair professionals. When I raised this issue to the front desk, I was told a manager would contact me. A manager did not call me back, so I tried calling the next day. I called twice in a row and both times the phone was left to ring before they hung up on me. I called from a blocked number and they immediately answered. It appears they were intentionally ignoring my calls, even though I had never spoken to the manager a single time at that point. The manager said she could not force Angela to issue a partial refund because I paid her directly. I was shocked by these business practices and wanted to confirm that I went to a legitimate business. I could not find a license for this salon under its current name. I called the NV Board of Cosmetology and they could not find a license for a salon under the advertised name either. This is now resulting in a state inspection. You can verify the license status of this salon, or any other salon in NV at: https://www.nvcosmo.com/licensee-lookup. You can also call the licensing board for a more advanced search. $400 is a lot to invest to have a color job done incorrectly. I understand that hair does not always come out as hoped. I only asked for a partial refund as a good-faith effort to be fair/reasonable. Needless to say, I do not recommend services from this salon to anyone. Just fyi all of the hairdressers here are independent contractors so no one actually works for the salon except maybe the receptionist. If you call in, you can't make an appointment with the receptionist, but just tell them what you want and they will give you a number for a stylist who then schedules an appt. based on his/her availability. With that said, my girl is Cali and she is the best! She takes her time and listens to what I actually want and uses her knowledge and expertise to figure out what will be best for my situation. I am in the process of lightening my hair from brown to blonde and Cali uses a different approach than the traditional foil bleaching. It's called hair painting and I am such a fan of this method! Not only did she get my ugly red hair to a nice light brown, but she did a conditioning treatment as well and my hair felt so soft after. It has never felt that way after being colored and bleached it usually feels dry and is frizzy.My hair is still a work in progress but I am looking forward to the final outcome. read more
