I found Jacki on Yelp when I was looking for someone who knows how to cut curly hair (which can be a challenge). I waited a few days to write this review because I was really upset and wanted to calm down and make sure I wasn't being rash - but it's been two days and I'm extremely unhappy with this haircut. I told her that I specifically didn't want my top layers cut shorter - I really just wanted the bottom level blended up so my hair had some shape. That's it. I reiterated how long I had been growing my hair out and that I didn't want to take away length. (I spent over two heard growing my hair out after having to chop it all off.) My hair is SO much shorter now - and the actual cut is NOT good. It's okay (not great) for wearing curly but I told her specifically that I needed to be able to wear it both straight and curly. I washed and straightened it today and it looks AWFUL. Like, truly terrible. There are random long pieces of hair and the back is so thinned out that it just looks scraggly. It's not just my opinion - I asked my (very honest) friends and they all agreed. Even more than the bad cut, I felt very frustrated when I was in the chair because every time I tried to explain what I wanted, it felt like she wouldn't let me talk - she'd start into a story about someone or something else. I tried explaining several times that my hair was a lot curlier than it looked, because I had pulled it back to work out. I also explained that I straighten my hair a LOT and it was really important that it looked good straight as well. It's like she didn't hear anything I said. Most stylists spend the first 5-10 minutes just listening to the client about what they want. I didn't get that chance. She mentioned several times that she is very artistic and doesn't follow a specific guideline for cutting hair - I probably should have just left but I read all the reviews and thought she had magical powers. I know that it's "just hair" and that it will grow back, but it's a service I paid for - and I'm very frustrated with what I received. I had to go to ANOTHER salon and pay for a second haircut just to fix it. If you have long hair that you spent years growing out (like me), do not gamble with it by coming to this hairdresser. I showed her pictures and we discussed what I wanted. I thought we were on the same page with wispy bangs and layers, but she ultimately decided to do what she wanted. She got scissor happy and was taking random sections and just cutting away! She kept switching from razor, to scissor, to thinning shear (which I already have fine hair). Too much hair was being pulled forward into bangs that ended up uneven and looked awful! She even thought out loud to herself "maybe we should go shorter" and I said "No!". I literally had to tell her during the cut that I didn't want a mullet! She cut my hair in a center part, then cut more of it in a side part. I did not ask for that. Then she stops cutting the front part of my hair, and decided to "lightly layer" my hair in the back, but told me several times it would be hard for people to notice. Yes, because there was actually no layering done at all. She blatantly LIED. She point cut the ends, that's it. She messed up my hair that was long and all one length. I specifically grew it out for a new style. Because of her weird front layering technique, I have a 2 inch chunk taken off on the ends on the left side! Then she proceeded to style it to hide what she did, which again it looked nothing liked what we had agreed upon. Then she charged me $100 for what she did...and again, lied that she had cut layers in the back! I wish I had looked more closely at my hair before I left. It will take an entire year to get back to where I was before this nightmare, and at the least 6 months to where I can get the front part of my hair reshaped. I do NOT recommend this hairdresser at all. read more

Was very excited to find Jacki's website that focuses on hair for "older people" and makes it sound as if she/her salon is special in regards to how they treat their customers. I was looking forward to making an appointment for a relative who was recently in the hospital and in desperate need of a haircut. After contacting the owner, she was unable to schedule and recommended her colleague Cheryl. Explained to Cheryl how excited I was to find their salon and wanted to schedule. I turned down other location appts to make this one. The day before Cheryl asked to reschedule but we were unable to as we had existing out of town plans. She agreed to meet however, it was clear from the first time she walked in to the salon she didn't want to be there. I asked about her ideas for the hair cut and everything I asked, she had an objection to. I have never gone to a salon to have the stylist tell me they didnt know what to do, and each time I ask for her opinion she put it back on me. The site claims they are experts in short hair, so I was asking " an expert" for the opinion - but, she had an excuse for everything I asked her and pushed back on each question I asked. She knew before we got there she had no intention of keeping the appointment. I have been looking for someone who can cut curly hair, she is NOT IT. I based my son's appointment on her website where she sited that she was knowledgeable. Hated the haircut, truly hated it, she has ruined my son's hair for now, till it grows again, which as people who have curly hair know is going to take a long time. I really thought she understood curly hair since she kept saying that she wouldn't cut too much, but she just kept cutting, also is completely uneven and it's all over the place. I don't know if her suppose knowledge works for other people, but it did not work out for us at all. If you have curly hair I suggest you look elsewhere. read more

When you walk into a salon ‍ for a perm and your hair is definitely past your butt crack you definitely don't need a tight spiral curl 1st off. 2nd NO HAIR DRESSER SHOULD EVER POP A BOTTLE OF OF ALCOHOL FOR THEMSELVES even if they do offer you some. 3rd you should never hear from them your hair can handle an extra 30 minutes you have curl already naturally. The woman f*%#ing fried my hair...my beautiful hair to past my A$$! I definitely hope that anyone reading this understands it was my fault I should have known better when someone else says that they think what you want is not right and changes the plan you have should make you leave then and there but seriously the ALCOHOL SHOULD HAVE BEEN A HUGE INDICATION FOR ME TO CALL MY HUSBAND AND ASK HIM TO COME BACK AND PICK ME UP. Almost four years later I am still cutting the fried perm off my hair! Also a great description for you would be the curling rods looked like pencils and I asked originally for a beach wave perm. Almost 500$ and 4 1/2 hours later that is what she did to me!!! I will also just say that yes she definitely was drunk because I don't drink I have epilepsy and it would have caused a serious Grand-mal seizure for me had I drank any of her alcohol! Upon looking at pictures I definitely see a blonde woman whose hair she fried a lot like mine her hair just is not as long as mine or doesn't have the same tight curls as she put into my hair but she definitely fried hers like mine. NO ONE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO DRINK ON YHE JOB! Thank you God Bless by the way I have learned that the beauty school takes pride in EVERY SINGLE THING THEY DO... and actually do amazing work! I won't go anywhere but there now! You guys might want to try it out I use mine now in Lake Havasu CBecause we moved. I definitely went there and I definitely had my hair done in there and by you. I definitely don't care ‍ what you say about my pictures and to further it I actually told you about my son living in Cali and me and my husband separating for a short while and how I had called him from California and he drove cane and saw me there and we definitely resolved things and were still married I told you about a man giving me a skunk stipe in a short hair cut I got when I donated to wigz for kidz and you told me they were actually going to toss it because it was actually died hair and they don't take died hair...and how else would I have known about your alcohol ? Look I am just posting this because I found a place finally on yelp to write a complaint and generally I wouldn't! But I felt you seriously destroyed my hair! I booked an appointment a couple weeks in advance and Ended up missing the appointment because I ended up in the hospital because of some chronic pain issues and a possible stroke. I just got home this evening and around 10pm 8/2/21 she text me a very rude and unprofessional message about missing the appointment. I scheduled a consultation with Jacki after my stylist didn't listen to me about doing Balayage. It was brassy, too chunky and clearly not a Balayage and I was very upset. I was greeted by Jacki and I already felt better. She's so sincere and was genuinely concerned I wasn't happy with my color. She took the time to consult with me about my hair and educated me about colors and techniques. I never felt rushed and it truly felt I found a stylist that will listen to what I want. She also wrote down products to use in case I decided to wait to grow my hair out. Her pricing is very reasonable for her experience. She wouldn't let me leave her chair until she fixed my cut! I went here based on the rave reviews and was shocked to find someone who talked on her phone (three times) while supposedly doing my color. Smelled like cigarette smoke,which is simply off-putting. Didn't even start until 35 mins after I sat in the chair, nothing happened expediently (e.g., drying my hair). Talked incessantly, would interrupt me after asking questions. My hair has a weird reddish tinge with little differentiation (it just looks blah), so I would not recommend going here if you need ash or violent undertones. I think it has a lot of do with how the highlights were placed, which was way out of sync w/ my haircut, so they don't highlight very much of anything. I paid $150 and sat in the chair for over 5.5 and it wasn't even finished. I see everyone who have left yelp reviews have been very happy and the photos are really good, but in my experience, this is not how I wanted to look for the holidays. I think Jacki tries and she is personable but needs to be more professional too. Obviously, not everyone is a 'fit' for everyone and I'm sorry this didn't work out. read more

Jacki is amazing, she is truly the best! After doing my research I went to her to get a perm and I am so happy that I did! I told her I was nervous, especially with anyone touching my long hair. She really got to know me and made me feel comfortable in my decision. My perm looks beautiful and she talked me through tips of up keeping it, and recommended products and where to buy them. I waited a few days before writing review as I wanted to see how I felt about the cut after living with it for a few days. She gave me an excellent cut. Jacki was careful and steady in her cutting. She really concentrated and kept checking to make sure my hair was even- not easy to do on curly hair.
