I've tried several yoga studios, but like Goldilocks and the Three Bears, none of them felt just right. As Yelper Hannah G perfectly put it, "With how saturated the yoga market is, it was hard for me to find a place that I connected with". For me, that place has turned out to be Sukha Yoga. Sure, Mark (co-founder) has no idea who I am--I've only taken his class once--but that single experience left a lasting impression. I attended his Saturday Bhakti Service: Flow, Meditation, and Sound, an 80 min class that collaborates an intentional vinyasa flow practice with mindfulness. For "busy" folks who struggle to slow down or are close-minded, this class (and maybe even this style of practice) might not be for you. As Mark's fists say, he certainly is a "GURU." He guides his class with intention and power, while also subtly weaving in his musical talents, playing several instruments and even singing, in a way that feels genuine and somehow not cringe. The class is structured, yet somehow freeing. Mark allows you to set your own pace during sun salutations, which feels like pure magic. The experience made me feel grounded and safe. I could have cried with how deeply content my soul felt. BONUS: If you love dogs, you'll probably find Mark's extremely well behaved mini doodle, Mai, practicing her down dog. Another day, another new yoga studio. This time I found myself just off South Lamar at Sukha Yoga for a 6am practice. I arrived at the studio and it was still dark out. Finding the studio and parking was a bit difficult, but once I was inside it felt warm and inviting. There was a small waiting area with some seating which led right to the studio itself. Not huge, but cozy. The class started on time and the instructor took us through a well sequenced flow. It was powerful but far from overwhelming. The studio was supposed to be heated, but it's possible I was not near enough to an infrared light which kept me from getting a sweat in. After the class was over, the instructor invited me to join a small group for a Barton Springs plunge. Really appreciated the community building outside of class! I love Sukha so much, it's my sangha - my spiritual home, my beloved community. I feel like the way in which they lead classes does a great job at honoring the origins of yoga, not simply co-opting the poses for gentrified fitness. The facilitators are so intentional about making each class as accessible as possible, encouraging people to listen to their bodies and make the practice their own. I go to other studios if a friend wants me to join them, but otherwise you won't catch me practicing yoga anywhere else! read more

Great yoga splurge. $30 unlimited for first week. Fantastic, athletic, and wise instructors. Great ambiance. Classes are diverse. I tried the meditation class, yoga flow, and was excited when one teacher played his harmonium at the end. Don't arrive late. You'll get locked out four minutes after class starts. Parking lot fills so be prepared to go through the neighborhood to look for lore spots. See above. Don't be surprised when several participants do headstands in class. A white male instructor shamed me because I was struggling in class. In the class, I kept getting out of poses because I felt physically and mentally awful, but I was pushing myself to be there because I wanted to show up for my body and mind. At one point when I released early from a pose they shouted out to the class that if "you don't want to be here you can leave." Also want to note that I was one of the only people of color in the class, so I already felt like an outsider and didn't really need the extra push. I wasn't trying to offend the instructor by struggling. I also wasn't making noises or anything. I just kept losing focus and releasing. read more

I've been practicing yoga for 15 years, been to many studios all over Austin, and I've never been to a better studio than Sukha Yoga. Sukha Yoga Austin is the most beautiful yoga studio I have ever been to. The space is so homey, welcoming and open. I can tell that the owners put so much love and care into their creation. I took a class with Mark, the owner. I loved the instructions, the storytelling and the chanting. I left feeling so good. Sukha Yoga also has an exceptional shop at the reception. It is a wonderful place to find unique gifts for your loved ones. Every item has been carefully and intentionally picked. I could spend days in this beautiful and welcoming space. I highly recommend going for a yoga class, exploring the boutique and grabbing a bite and a yummy coffee at their coffee shop next door Maha Coffee. By far my favorite Yoga place I've ever been to. Rejuvenating, calming, challenging and thoughtful flows. You can feel the heart filled energy emanating in Sukha from the moment you enter and it will stay with you well after you leave. I'm a beginner who just does yoga once in a while and the directions are clear enough for me to follow without feeling left behind. The musical vibe is just right and matches the flow timing to enhance the experience rather than distract from being in the space like some other spots I've tried. Not very welcoming. Coffee was okay very basic! Not a great vibe from employees. Not really helpful when ordering and asking for input. You should just know what you want when u come here. I would recommend driving the extra block to grab some coffee. read more

If you're looking for a "yoga" studio or class that folds in HIIT or is just a workout this isn't that. If you're looking for real, actual yoga, where you find yourself remembering, with relief, how it is to feel really really really good, connecting with actual joy while doing a practice that opens you physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually then check it out! The studio is welcoming, and has genuine community. I was wordlessly but clearly welcomed, and sometimes with words too, like when one of the owners noticed she'd never seen me before and introduced herself. You know how people say "it's so nice to meet you" and their voice rises an octave on the "meet you"? Not like that - like she meant it. And the eyes! Just about every time I happened to meet someone's eyes I saw clarity, joy, and presence. Not something you see everywhere, but something you always see in people that practice true yoga. Also, good mix of beginners and long time practitioners. I would have felt comfortable even if it had been my first yoga class ever. Like I said, genuinely welcoming. read more

Really wonderful, welcoming studio that offers a variety of classes and courses. I am always impressed that they foster a great sense of inclusion. So many yoga studios seem to have a "cool kids group" of fully Lululemoned ladies who can I guess just afford to do yoga all the time? Not here. I see all different kinds of people in my classes and the owners themselves make a huge effort to get to know every single student. One of my favorite things about this studio is it is nearly ego-less. Not to bash Black Swan butttttttt I so often feel like I'm in a class with only people (including the teacher) who are attempting to do the most instagrammy yoga pose all the damn time. People force themselves into asana for the show of it, not the benefit. At Sukha, it's about doing what's good for the body and soul. There is chanting (sometimes I am like low-key crying about how beautiful life is) and amazing yummy loving energy and yoga and when I leave I'm all high on life. They offer yoga mats, blocks, candles & apparel, including super cute Sukha tanks! I started my Sunday off with Sukha Flow with Erinn and it was such a delight. I left grounded & centered. The flow was certainly challenging, but Erinn was great to offer guidance and help. The studio was so warm, welcoming and inspiring, and so was the staff. They offer a great variety of classes, and I'm certainly looking forward to exploring their other offerings. I can't wait to meet the rest of the instructors and experience what they have to offer. I just completed the teacher training program in August and was blown away! It was a hugely empowering experience, and the curriculum is so dense with valuable knowledge. A great balance of spirit and structure. This studio and this community feel like home. Erinn and Mark are outstanding humans, and they have curated such a safe and lovely space. You are always encouraged to show up as you are, and this simple invitation has been life changing for me. To be welcomed and accepted for exactly who I am, even when I am a hot mess, has made Sukha where I practice and where I go to heal. On top of that, the quality of instruction is beyond excellent, and every teacher has their own distinct voice. I've never really been loyal to a yoga studio before, mostly been down for classes here or there wherever my friends wanted to go but Sukha has been a real game changer for me - I'm drinking the Krishna kool-aid and singing the Ganesh gospel and preaching to Parvati about this place. I don't know if any of those are things but they are now because I wrote it! What do I like? 1. Creative vinyasas. You have to pay attention, it's almost like a game of twister sometimes (right foot blue! left arm red!) but keeps me much more focused and engaged than a "imma gonna run through the same 26 poses or same 3 vinyasas over & over" type of classes. 2. The signing. I won't lie I thought it was a little weird my first few classes but now it's one of my very favorite things about Sukha. Really feel the community in the space with the vocal harmonies, it is great! 3. The teachers. There are no slackers in this crew, everyone is awesome! Erinn has fully become part of my weekly self care routine I'm even considering going on yoga vacation with this group later on this year (maybe next year depending on my time \ money continuum) because the teachers are so excellent. I'll also add that they have a non-douchey Instagram account. Not full of impossible yoga barbies in pretzel poses it's all real people, meditations, mantras, class/event reminders & happy yogis. I've been on the search for meditation and yoga studios in Austin and thankfully found Sukha Yoga which has BOTH (thanks Classpass!). I took my first two meditation classes this weekend and they were nothing short of outstanding. Erinn and Mark have a really authentic, practical and energetic approach to meditation (which sometimes includes the use of a whiteboard for visual learners). This is a really wonderful space. I've been to many yoga and meditation centers in my life, many classes and types of yoga. There's always something here that I want to take, all ranges of experience and for all kinds of moods. I am brand new to Austin and chose to make this studio my first stop. As I was walking in on the front door the banner said, " be here now". That resonated with me as I have those exact words tattooed on my foot which holds deep meaning for me. I took it as a sign I was in the right place. My gut was not wrong. The studio is beautiful with plenty of merchandise, and artwork all around. The instructor was great and I took away some new transitions and renditions of traditional sun-salutations that felt the good kind of different :) . I took 2 classes here with ClassPass and really enjoyed it. As a previous Wanderlust member, I was attracted to a studio that didn't have mirrors. (If you've never done a full yoga session with your eyes closed you are missing out, my friends.) I think mirrors are distracting and create an unnecessary comparison with your fellow yogis. The studio is gorgeous and accommodating with tea and a lounge area. The first class I took was a challenge since I hadn't been to a yoga class in 5 months, but I left feeling like I had a brain massage- which is why I love yoga. I'm very much a Pitta and yoga cools my flames. I'm hoping to join in the near future! read more

yeah, this is without a doubt the best yoga studio I've ever been to. I tried some of their free classes hosted by Juice Society with Mark and fell in love with their style. Mark is insanely awesome and since then I've taken classes with Jeff and he's just as amazing. I live up north and drive all the way down to South Lamar for this studio and it's worth the drive every time. I've been using them recently through ClassPass so I'm bummed I only get to use them 3 times. Definitely will be joining their studio membership soon! I LOVE SUKHA!!! read more

I took a class here with Classpass while I was on work travel. It was a nice class! Combination of vinyasa and yin yoga, it was nice and relaxing (I liked the candlelight), the teacher was fantastic. I wasn't crazy about the stone floors (hard and cold) but the studio itself was nice. There is a large selection of merchandise out front and some comfy couches to sit on while you wait. Free mats and props if you forgot yours, and parking out front! read more

This is probably the best yoga studio I've ever been to. Which is saying a lot considering the amount of studios in Austin alone. It's just the right balance of size and professionalism. They use super-high quality equipment, always keep the lighting very ethereal, and the instructors are top-notch. You can feel it's a really strong community when you walk in, yet they're very welcoming to newcomers. Another cool thing is they always have new yoga events going on, and bring in visiting instructors. This keeps things interesting and it goes above and beyond your typical week in and week out classes that most studios lean on. Highly recommend! read more

I'm in love with Sukha! It has been my safe place for the past few months and I have yet to meet an instructor that I don't love. They even provide hair ties and tea for your practice. I'll probably be attending this studio until I leave Austin! read more
