I was suffering with tightness in my back so decided to give Thai massage a try. I was greeted by two women that were sweet. I was escorted to my room and given instructions. When my massage technician came in she asked me which massage I wanted. I chose the 90 min combination Thai deep tissue. She spent the majority of my 90 mins on my back, shoulders and neck working out my many knots. She was attentive and courteous, often asking if the pressure was too hard. I was on O'ahu visiting from a neighbor island and looked on yelp for help in finding a masseuse. They were able to accommodate a same day appointment for a 1 hour massage. The masseuse Thanny( I think that was her name) was great and really worked on my shoulders where I wanted the most focus on, but she also did a full body massage using a combination of massage techniques. The place was very clean, calming, nicely decorated and staff was professional and friendly, and made me feel comfortable. Prices were very reasonable and I felt I got a great price for a very quality experience. Based on my experience I can't wait to go back the next time I am visiting O'ahu! read more

And believe you/me - I've been to A LOT of massage therapists in my life. For anyone who has chronic pain - try this place out. I actually felt better after I left the building, normally - I only feel better during the massage, not after. I tipped 100% because she deserved it. I used to love this place,but quality has gone down a bit. Every since covid, people have gotten lazy and adjusted hours to basically not work anymore. My massage was routine, no stretching, no thai anything. The masseuse was an older lady and nice,but she couldnt handle me or even make a dent in my muscles. I still tipped,but sooo disappointed. Sukotai Massage is a life saver. I had been having really bad neck and shoulder pain for three days... you know the kind where it hurts to turn your head. I have always wanted to try a Thai style massage and this place is located close to home with good reviews so I decided to give it a shot. I called a couple times with no answer (I guess it gets busy) so I left a voice message and I got a call back within 20 minutes and got a same day appointment. Parking is free with a two hour maximum at the new two story building at Waimalu shopping plaza across from Zippy's and Chun Wah Kam. I went upstairs and signed a history form and waiver and got taken in right away to a private room where I had to dress down. The table was clean and the sheets smelled super fresh. My therapist was Yuri. She was fantastic! I'm 5'1 and taller than Yuri but she has the strength of a tiger! She even walked down my back and legs and stretched out my stiff muscles. I asked for firm pressure and I got it. Afterwards, she used a hot towel to wipe the lotion off and everything felt good. I was able to walk out pain free and I can turn my head and even relax my shoulders. I paid $70 for a one hour Thai/deep tissue combo massage plus tip. I will definitely be back! read more

Mayo just gave the most amazing massage I've ever received! Ive had a bad flare-up of chronic neck and back pain and was in need of some relief. I called day of and was told they had availability. This was my first visit to Sukotai massage, and will definitely not be my last. It was very clean and the room was comfortable. After asking if there were any areas of focus, Mayo began to work her magic! She has excellent technique and knew every single spot to hit. She is very considerate and asked if the pressure was ok and how i was feeling throughout. Because this might be the best massage I've ever had. --- --- --- After a long flight to Hawaii, and a very bumpy ATV ride at Kualoa Ranch, I was in desperate need for a massage before flying 8 hours back to Houston. Really, really desperate need. I looked up a couple of different places who offered Thai massage, and was unsuccessful in finding a day-of appointment. Thankfully, Sukotai called me back, and I was all set for something just before heading to the airport. I wish I could remember the person who performed my massage, but she was absolutely unbelievable. She was moving pretty rapidly between different positions and types of massage, but the entire process was a well-oiled machine. It was incredibly relaxing and helped me feel infinitely better for that long plane ride. She incorporated some ashiatsu, as well as some deep tissue, and some other things I didn't even know about. Definitely well worth the visit. The small parking lot is a bit weird since it's adjacent to the shopping center entrance/Zippys but closer to the corner of the street so it can be hard to get into when there's a little traffic. It's also a max of 2hr parking and they will tow. The massages though are amazing and they are very accommodating. I ended having to go here after a poor trip to massage envy so that they could actually work out my knots! I walked in and they were able to see me 30 mins later with no appointment. I can't wait to use up my massage envy hrs just so I can cancel it and give this place all of my business. I went for the 90 min Thai/deep tissue combo and it was well worth it. If you want just a light massage/Swedish massage for relaxation then you can stick with massage envy. My mom's birthday was coming up and wanted to give her a nice massage. I decided on this place after reading all of the great reviews! I called 4 days in advance and they were able to give me the slot time I wanted for my mom. The day of her appointment, my mom was held up at the DMV trying to renew her license. I knew for a fact we would not be able to make it to Sukotai by 11. I called 9:30 asking if there was any way I could push her appointment back another hour. Surprisingly, the lady on the phone was very friendly and was able to move our appointment. My mom LOVED her massage, she kept raving on how Thanny was so friendly, how comfortable she was, how much lighter she feels and how Thanny has hands from the heavens. She got the Lomi Lomi and deep tissue. Cannot wait to try this place for myself and I will post an updated review. 10/10 as a gift to someone you love! read more

My go-to massage place, and as for my go to person, I am in love with Tammy. I've been going there of sciatic pain in conjunction with my chiropractor and PT appointments. She is able to loosen everything up and get me mobile again especially after hard days at work, standing up on the floor for 8hrs running around will take a toll on you. The techniques vary each time but Tammy (along with the other awesome and courteous staff) makes sure to check the pressure being applied, how you're feeling and what other areas are being affected through your massage. Soft music plays in the background and the lights are dim helping me relax and occasionally doze off. No strong odors or strong perfumes/essential oils for those who may be allergic or sensitive to certain scents. I don't necessarily have sensitive skin, but some products do make me breakout, but I have never experienced a breakout or allergic reaction to any of the products they use. There are 60min and 90min massages available, they get full quick so try to call in advance. Price wise it is very affordable. I go several times a month to help relieve some pains and stiffness built up in my shoulders and lower back. After 10stamps (10 60min OR 90min massages) you can redeem your stamp card for 1 free massage 60min or 90min depending on which card was stamped (does that even make sense?) Ex: After 10 60min massages your 11th one is free, just present your stamp card at time of payment to redeem. Absolutely love this place. read more

I had been going to Thai Issan - Keeaumoku but I live on the leeward side and didn't want to dive into town just for a massage. So, I Yelped and found this gem in semi-ghetto Waimalu Shopping Center -of all places. But it's in a newer building on the corner near Zippy's, so it's nice and clean inside and out. This is actually my second time here and had Thanny (sp?) as my therapist for a Thai (deep tissue) massage. She was great! I like the step massaging better because she can put firmer, more focused pressure on your muscles. She always made sure you were o.k. throughout the session and worked like she was gonna miss the bus or something; unlike some other places that only put firm pressure about half the time and play "patty-cake" the other half (you massage vets know what I mean). She also incorporated some light stretching as well as hot stone and warm towel treatments which went way beyond any other straightforward massages I've ever had. I also like that I can call for same-day appointment (on a weekday -not sure how busy they are on the weekend). Sukotai is now my go-to spot for Thai massage! read more

Couples Massage with My Brother Yeah, my brother Cary Y. and I had a couples massage. Brothers can do that. It's not creepy, it's endearing! Lol. Before coming here he warned me that a Thai massage can be rough and painful. He was not lying. Even though it was at times unbearable I LOVED IT! What does this say about me... tough as nails that's what! ;D Sukotai Massage is such a great place. So professional and an ideal place to relieve stress and promote relaxation. The rooms are kept clean and the staff are talented. For a couples massage we payed $125 for an hour long massage. They even went a little over!! Score! They do take card, but if you pay with cash you can get a kama'aina discount! Did I mention this was my first massage? If I thought massages were weird it was really shocking when my massage therapist got on the table (I think her name was Tingy) and literally her knees were on the back of my legs and she was rubbing my back! I remember thinking, what the Hell!?! I didn't know if I was getting a massage or being attacked. I looked over to see if my brother was getting the same. I didn't know if this was normal! I was freaking out! Also at one point I was in the missionary position getting stretched! And I was the bottom! After the awesome massage, they bust out with the hot towels and wipe you down, very professional, relaxing environment. Its located in the Hawaiian monarch hotel, (looks kinda strange seedy hotel from the outside). After the massage they have a quaint cute restaurant brunch place called cream pot, the best brunch place in town... and then directly down on the bottom floor across the dive bar, there is a awesome Japanese hair place where they do a shampoo scalp massage at Sato Beauty Salon. I called this place and maybe because it was a weekday, I easily got an appointment. The woman that answered, asked what I wanted, I told her I wanted to try the Thai massage as I've never had one. When I got there, I asked her to recommend something for me and she recommended the Thai and Deep Tissue Massage ($70/hr). It was totally worth it. I'm not good with pain, and let me tell you, it was a little more pain than I wanted, but she worked out all the knots on my back and in my shoulders. Painful but felt great. I saw some negative reviews here among the swarm of gushing ones. I'm gonna add to the ones gushing about this place. I.LOVED. IT.!! I've only had two massages ever, this being the second and was my favorite. So not saying much. But my wife has had several over her life and she said it was the best she has ever had. We had the couples massage. I got the swedish and my wife got the Sukotai special, the rocks with the swedish thai mix. Mine was $60 and hers was $80---a very reasonable prices for each of our massages considering it's downtown Honolulu. Everyone was very polite and friendly. They asked us to take off our shoes, then complete a short sheet asking "where it hurt" etc. They then brought my wife and I into a small room for our couples massage. For you guys wondering (i always worry about what I should wear to a message as I AM NOT free-balling it) her masseuse asked her to disrobe and I kept my boxers on. They keep you covered up the whole time. They left while we got ready, while calm soothing music played. I'll give some highlights only. They ladies giving us the massage (mine was Nita) were tiny ladies. So imagine our surprise when they mounted the bed while using their legs, knees, weight to massage those hard to get places, like back, legs, calves, etc. It was a little weird at first, but they were actually very professional and classy about it. Nothing weird or sexual. They put my legs and arms in various positions and used the oil to message and relax my achy muscles. After it all was done (I swear that hour seemed like 2!) they went out and brought back some very warm hand-towels that smelled great. They wiped our arms, legs down. the Hot water quickly dissipated and left a cool sensation where the air hit the water and it felt so good. The relaxing oil, massage, hot then cool sensation worked wonders. They were very polite the whole time. I was having a hard time relaxing when I got here, because I could not leave work behind. I looked on Groupon and the deal was still there, so I bought it, called for an appointment and got in the same day. Located upstairs in the two story building right in front of Waimalu Zippy's in a separate lot. Well decorated and very clean and air conditioned. I went in for a Thai massage. I was given a Thai clothing set to change into for the massage. My body goes through so much with Olympic weightlifting and work, I really needed help getting the knots out. Okay I went here again today and again they were exceptionally courteous and listened really well. I got the 90 minute massage with hot stones. I had a new masseuse instead of one of the two Thai ladies. The new girl was very polite and professional but not quite as acrobatic as the other two women so I wasn't folded into a pretzel and manipulated until all knots were eliminated. However, she did perform a very good relaxing massage and if I were interested in just going in order to nap and relax rather than relieve stress related muscle pain then this would have been perfect. She did do one thing that bothers me with almost every masseuse I get (not the wonderful Thai ladies though!). When she asked if the pressure was okay (and it was because it was nice and deep) after I said yes she eased up dramatically. Why do they do that after you just told them you liked it the way it was? Pretty good massage; I was happy with the service and the 60 minute massage felt like forever; thank goodness! My bestfriend and I actually got a couples massage in their couple's therapy room. It was actually quite nice! We both got the swedish/thai massage combo which is actually really great because they intergrated a lot of great stretches to only compliment the massage techniques. It was pretty amazing and I felt really relaxed after. They warned me that I would be sore the next day because of all the tension they had to relieve of me. I did feel sore, but still felt good about the massage. After the massage, they wipe you down with hot towels so you don't feel greasy when you walk out. The facility is clean, and the atmosphere is relaxing. There is no sauna, steam room, or jacuzzing though. It's just a massage spot, but it's well worth it! If you're staying in the neighborhood, I highly recommend this shop as their prices aren't as bad as the resort spas, and the massages are high quality! Get yours! read more

Wicked awesome massage! I struggled with the choice of paying more money for a fancy spa with free-flowing fountains and huge showers and an entrance reminiscent of Roman baths... but when it comes down to it, I just want a massage and a relaxing experience. This place is small, quaint, and in no way has the capacity for the theatrical eccentricities and extras that other expensive spas may offer. But their massages and their masseuses were amazing. They walk you through the process, they don't speak much unless they need to, they mold the experience for you. I got a combination massage of Thai/deep/Swedish and I was afraid of the Thai portion but they reassured me and when I went through with it I was glad. There are some interesting positions that you will go through and at times wonder how you can even stretch that far, but the end result is just as good if not better than those expensive massage places. I felt rejuvenated, relaxed, and yes, slightly sore (in a good way). The ladies are calm, courteous, and polite. I had no issues whatsoever and will definitely come again. Parking is in the hotel structure and is validated by them so at least there's no hassle with that aspect. read more
