They identified several pre-existing issues and rectified several concerns we had with the work a previous owner had performed. All good now! The second visit was an emergency call that resulted from another contractor inadvertently damaging our well power line. Jason Long (the owner) and Jeff T. came out first thing this morning and made it all right again. I find people in Frederick to generally be friendly and professional, but these gentlemen represent the best this area has to offer in neighborliness, professionalism and going beyond the norm to set things right. Imagine a business where you walk in and all the products on the shelves have no price. You ask the…read morecashier how much something costs and they say you have to pay $5 to know the price. Would you shop at that store? No, of course not. Well this company does exactly that. They refuse to give you a cost estimate, no matter how basic the job or how detailed you describe the problem, until you pay them $70 to come out to your house. Dear Yelpers, please please do NOT normalize this greedy practice by giving this company or any company that does this your business. They'll say it's a standard industry practice. It is not. There are many honest services out there that offer free cost estimates and don't try to manipulate you to buy their products. They'll also say the fee is to compensate for the time that the technicians spend coming out, but that's just being dishonest. That $70 sure as hell ain't going to the worker. If they're being dishonest before you even hire them, think about what else they'd be dishonest about. Please stay away. I don't want to live in a world where I have to pay money to know how much something costs.

The contract was vague (e.g., "Replace master shower" apparently meant demo the shower and install the shower pan, but we had to install the plastic shower and fix the wall). They didn't take pictures of their work to share, which most trades have done for us. They were rude- walked in without saying hello, half the time would not even verbally respond when spoken to (e.g., I hear swearing coming from the bathroom, when he walks out, I ask, "Is everything OK?" and get no response). I spoke with the receptionist and asked for specs for the plastic shower they ordered us and did not get a response from the plumber (I had no idea what brand they were using). We talked to her about using fixtures we had bought, but they installed other fixtures. When I pointed it out, the guy just shrugged- too late now. Also... they left debris in the lawn, which the dog got into and barfed in our house. They told us the water worked after the first day- it did not work and we had to get bottled water to make dinner. They left the breaker off so my husband had a cold shower that night. The handles they installed in the bathroom were loose and spun- husband had to tighten them. The job cost a lot of money- I wish we had gotten at least one other quote. The kicker: they charged us nearly $1000 more than what was in the contract because they encountered some issues, but they did not discuss this with us before charging. When I brought this up, the guy shrugged and said that's just how they do it. We won't use them again.
