I hired the company because they assured me that they could do the work for $400 to $600. I pressed Jimmy on his estimate based on the fact that I had received other estimates of $1000 or more for the same work. He very definitely stated that he "stands by" his estimate. When the work was finished, he charged me $2,400 for the job. I agreed to pay $1800 for the work based on Jimmy's promise to make it up to me the next time I needed electrical work. However, when I asked for his assistance a few weeks later, he stated that he would need to charge me $235 for a 20 minute job. read more

I'm sure its no surprise to the Saavy Yelp viewer that there are a few electricians in the DC-metro area. That being said, now shorten that list to electricians that can work on a solar inverter... and your list can probably now fit on the back of a postage stamp. I called this company to help debug an inverter that someone else installed and was malfunctioning. Scheduling was straight forward, their tech arrived, and took care of the issue. The price was reasonable based on my experience in MoCo and our solar setup is working like a champ now and we're at full solar production again. A few weeks later, one of our EV's started having charging issues and tripping our twin-NEMA 5-30 drops. I got them back again, they did some cleanup work on this circuit that a previous electrician had installed, and then let me know how to manage its limitations (its one 60A cable, with twin 30A drops, connected to two level-2 chargers pulling 32A each... so... problem!) . While there I asked them to also replaced several outdoor GFCI drops. All went well there. Again, with a reasonable price. I did have them over more more time to review one of the GFCI installs which I thought was malfunctioning, but turns out my appliance was on the fritz. They provided me with a nice written description of what they found with the appliance on the invoice which made the warranty claim VERY easy... that took a whole 30 seconds with the manufacturer thanks to their invoice LOL Their techs are knowledgeable and friendly. I've met 3 so far (Tyree, John and Scott), plus I dealt with Jason at the scheduling office. Everyone is polite (big A++), efficient (another big A+), and know how to deal with a technically able/versed customer (me). They're also easily accessible (I've interacted with them using email, phone and sms). They seems to be sourcing a decent estimate and scheduling infrastructure so their estimates and billing are clean and well laid out, and no surprises. This backend also provides notifications on appointment times/rescheduling and tech arrival. They do charge a surcharge for credit cards, which I've factored into my "they're reasonable" assessment, even with this cooked in. They're definitely not on the low end of the price curve, but I would say right in the middle which to me was worth a company with know-how of a *modern* home setup (i.e., one with a solar inverter and EVs) which is very rare. We were recommended this business to provide a new electrical panel prior to an HVAC upgrade. Every person I spoke to on the phone made this process simple and answered every question. I knew nothing about what this project would entail or how it would benefit us but they took the time to explain it and broke it down to laymen's terms. On the day of the install the father and son team were here literally at 8am as promised. They were professional, kind and hard working. I asked a number of times if they needed anything and I never saw them take a break. They updated us with the progress a number of times and were right on with how long the power would be out. The most important aspect was we were afraid that holes would have to be made in our ceiling to fish the chords to our HVAC but the fellas worked hard and didn't make one by showing some innovation and ingenuity. They certainly went the extra mile to make it a great experience. I highly recommend GOT Electric for your electric needs and I will certainly use them again. Over the past couple of years I've been needing work done to my house. First project was having the basement finished. I contacted Got Electric to come give me an estimate and give me good ideas. They took the time to thoroughly go through my options. Once we came up with a good plan they executed it to a t just the way I wanted it!! The finished product looks awesome! About a month ago I contacted them about putting up outdoor ceiling fans on my porch. They were able to fit me into their schedule right away, and they were up in about an hour (looks great). Last week I had them install an attic fan to get rid of the excess heat in my attic. The next day they were out at 7:30 AM and had the fan done in no time. Anytime I need electrical work done, I can always count on Got Electric to get the job done!! read more

I needed a light fixture installed and these guys came recommended by the ultimate Yelp guru... my mom. I called to schedule an appointment and they gave me prices up front. John came two days later and did an excellent job installing the fixture and making sure it was perfect! Absolutely outstanding -- and quite simply one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had. On a Sunday morning I made the mistake of trying to reset a busted outlet by flipping the master circuit breaker, and in so doing I ended up shutting off all electricity to our home. I was a bit panicked and not sure how my wife and I and our two young kids were going to manage a Sunday with no power, at which point I made the best decision I've made in weeks: I called Got Electric. To my incredible fortune, I was able to reach the owner, Grant, on his cell phone. To say that Grant was helpful is an extreme understatement. He listened patiently to my issue, asked me to send him a few pictures, and then called me back to talk me through a solution. Within minutes, my power was restored and my stress turned into gratefulness. I insisted on paying Grant for his time -- and for bothering him on a Sunday morning -- but he politely refused, insisting that he was just glad to be able to help. They came to my house one year ago to upgrade an electrical panel. They upgraded everything to the code, however broke the dryer vent in the process. When I called them to tell them its broken, I was told that I will get a call back, no one called me back. There were two wires left on the outside of my house, wrapped in a trash bag. I called another electrician to get them removed, and was told that these wires are for pepco to connect. Got electric never called pepco to finish the job. I called Got Electric a month ago, was told they will contact Pepco, but they have not. Finally I tracked the responsible department at pepco myself and Pepco is coming to finish the job (one year late). So no I do not recommend this company as they do not follow through. read more
