This place is for the 300 level crowd at The Garden. The people that swear at and make lewd pet names for the players on the other team. The ones that start the "Buuuulll-shiit" chants when the ref makes a bad call. The fans that, at the end of the game might not know their own name, but they're wearing green and white or gold and black and that still counts for something. read more

I often find myself in the North Station area with an hour to kill and a liver that needs watering. I am typically crabby and stressed. Sully's saves me in this situation. I can sit at the bar, watch the game, read my book, and drink cheap beer. The staff is friendly and the music is absurd. This place mellows me out. Hell, I'll even befriend the flies. Good people congregate here and good insects do too. read more

Before I start my review, you need to know: 1. I haven't YELPED in approx. 2 years. This experience promulgated a review (so please keep that in mind). 2. I get along with ANYONE. everyone. 3. Am particularly a fan/appreciator of dive bars, or any local old-school establishment, for that matter, where one can kick back a pint or two without judgment in the middle of the afternoon. Having said that, I write my review with extreme disappointment. At first impression, LOVED it.....The diveyness, the fact that the old man bartender (I refer to him as this...you'll see later on) told me there was no salt for a margarita, the fact that someone in a suit literally walked in and said nothing and downed 2 double shots of cap'n and walked right out probably on his way to the train, the fact that the heavyset bartender was walking around in socks. Back to the salt. Old man didn't want to deal with my order for some reason, so immediately passed it off to the heavyset bartender (a cheery gentleman) who told me he'd 'improvise' and he did. He salted my rim (that sounds bad?) with table salt, which was fine for me, and went on his cheery way. I then got a draft Bud Light (which tasted very flat, by the way, but not the reason for this review). This merry experience ended in the last 30 sec of me stepping out the door. As I passed the cheery bartender on my merry way out having had a lovely experience, I said "Thank you, and thanks for getting me salt!.' and gave him a litle playful punch on the shoulder. Old man bartender, hearing this and sitting next to him, said the following: 'F*CK YOU.' followed by a chuckle/more-so surprise by his peers sitting next to him. Never in my life......... I easily could have confronted the situation but instead said, 'are you serious? calm down, dude' and walked out. I DO NOT CARE WHO YOU ARE. You do not speak to ANYONE in that manner, let alone a female, especially a pleasant customer, for that matter. GO F*CK YOURSELF, SULLIVAN'S TAP. Your tap tasted like you pulled it from your ass, anyway. read more

I'm a New Yorker who lives in DC, I went to high school in Connecticut, and I have set foot in the city of Boston twice in my life. Seems strange, I know, I've just never had a reason to go to Boston. The lure of lobster rolls and clam chowder was apparently not enough to entice me. But then my life changed. While living in DC, I started dating someone from Boston, after being married to someone from Illinois, also in DC, and said Bostonian has a lot of friends (also from Boston) who still live in Boston (or in Quincy, Canton, Avon, or Westwood) and who all decided that in August of the year 20xx they would get married ... in Boston. We now live in Virginia. So who's on first? No idea. Exactly. We stayed at the Seaport. We walked to Sully's. It was Friday night around 8 pm. The bar was dead. "This is one of the longest bars in all of Boston," said my boyfriend. I glanced down the length of it and he was right, it was long. It was the kind of bar that made you want to slide your beer to the other end and have someone there to catch it, just because that would be a good way to utilize a really long bar (maybe). I ordered a Harpoon IPA for me and a Bud Light for my boyfriend. "Cash own-ly," said the bartender. I looked to my left where my boyfriend had previously been seated, but he had disappeared somewhere down the long bar - presumably to the restroom. I had no cash. DAMMIT. The bartender pointed to an ATM and I resigned myself to the $2.50 ATM fee and then the other $2.50 that my bank graciously charges me for not using their ATM. My boyfriend reappeared just as I had paid ... his timing is impeccable. My pint of Harpoon was served to me in a plastic pint glass. Obviously, Sully's felt their bar-ware replacement expenses were getting too steep to be sustainable for the long-term, I'm sure through no fault of their own. And there we sat. Sipping, chatting, quietly contemplating our journey from VA, to DC, through PA, DE, NY, CT, and RI to finally get to MA ... Boston, and eventually, Sully's. It was an oddly relaxing moment to be one of the few people sitting at the very long bar, the smell of mold and wet dankness permeating the air, the fluorescent lighting beaming down on me from above. There was no pressure to talk, sit up straight, fix my hair, or worry about whether my makeup was smudged. I was, in that moment, surprisingly happy. I guess its the little things. read more

Longest bar in Boston right? Love this place! My favorite hole in the wall...2 cheap pool tables and $2.25 beers! I'm not that good at Golden Tee but if you enjoy it they have one in the back. Like everyone else said it's perfect before, after, or during any event at the Garden. I've been having my birthday celebrations near here for years. We get dinner at BeerWorks, then go to Sully's. The reasoning is the drinkers stay, and the non-drinkers buy a shot then hit the road. Cheap Brubakers and shots help liquify the soul and make it easier to wander over to the Harp, or the Greatest bar or Grand Canal to dance like an idiot. I'm a big fan of Sully's because of its price, it's size, and the fun folks that create the atmosphere. read more

Dare I say this is the best dive bar in Boston? I think I might. Sully's has $3 Brubakers and a solid crew of regulars who drink them at 10am on game days. NBD. I've been told it's the longest bar in America, and since I'm too lazy to investigate this claim I just roll with it. Pool tables, video games, and a basketball hoop (those are my favorite!)= good time, guaranteed. Sullys is laid out weird, dirty, and has the nastiest bathroom I have ever seen at a bar in the US. That being said it is one of the best bars in Boston. I like it so much I will go here by myself on non game days. It reminds me of what a sports bar should be. I am only 24 but I can remember going to bars like this with my dad when I was younger. It is like walking into a place 15 years in the past. Cheap beer, arcade games, cool decor. You want something else? Go to one of those s-hole places in the area like the Harp. In a word.....PERFECT. That is how I would describe Sully's. Pissed off bar tenders, not so private bathrooms, no food, but lots and lots of cheap cold beer. If you want a clean place to have a beer, and maybe talk to a lady or two...I dont know what to tell ya. Sully's is always a sausage fest. If you're going to a Bruins game on a Saturday afternoon they will give you a beer at 10 30AM. For that reason alone they get 5 Stars. Sully's Tap is everything that is right with Boston. read more

Great place to go for a drink or two before a game, or if you have an affinity for playing Ms. Pac Man and Air Hockey while drinking. I did notice that they save money for things like straws by stealing Dunkin Donuts straws and using them in your mixed drinks. I think the cheapest beer there would be the Pabst for $2 and then the next cheapest is Rolling Rock for $2.50 or something ridiculous. i saw KISS on monday night across the street so i drank at sullivan's tap first. it was exactly where i needed to be. i feel like sullivan's tap was made for hard drinkin heavy metal fans. after looking around, feeling the feeling, and breathing the crustyguy air, the prices would surprise a man. they have cheap delights such as sully's (keystone, i think) light on draft but everything else was pretty much an average price for the area. it didn't keep me from drinking. when i was going peepees in the bathroom i thought there was a rowdy rumble outside with chairs being thrown around and asses being rocked, but it was just the basketball game against the wall. don't be afraid of this place. read more

Sullivan's Tap came to the rescue while I shivered in the October wind on line at Greatest Bar. The bouncers were nice enough to allow me to go in and out to get myself some drinks while waiting to get into a Halloween party across the street. I loved the long bar, the bottles of PBR (ha!), and met a bunch of really cool people inside. I can definitely see myself returning :) read more

it's an institution, from the arcade bball game to the semi-sticky floors, you must go here before a Celtics or Bruins game..yes some complain prices are too high for such a divey place, but compared with when you go in the Garden this is cheap. Reviewing dive bars is tricky because everyone has different standards for an "acceptable" dive bar experience. I visited Sullivans tap when my coworkers and I were looking for a cheap place to knock a few back before a Bruins game. That's definitely what you get, a cheap place to drink, no fluff and no fru-fru. It's definitely a place where lots of men go to get inebriated. If you're weary of being around lots of men in close proximity this might not be the place for you. It's pretty much a sausage fest and not to mention, the place isn't much wider than a trailer. The bar is super long and well stocked. Can't go wrong with cheap High Life's and PBR's. I wouldn't recommend going here if you want to schmooze around. You're better off doing so at one of their nearby places. But I'd recommend them if you and your just trying get obliterated for next to nothing and atmosphere doesn't matter. FYI - they don't accept cards on game nights so bring cash or friends with cash! read more

Lived in Boston for 20 years, left and returned 20 years later to vacation. Almost went to Boston Beer Works and stopped short when I saw Sullivan's. This is fuckin better my friend. Sully's Tap is a classic watering hole located near the Boston Garden. This bar gets packed on Celtics and Bruins games. It is shaped long and narrow so it can be uncomfortable to be inside for a long period of time. It defines a dive bar. But this bar is a local institution by the Garden. You have to go at least once. Beers and mixed drinks are really cheap. I went on a Saturday night and had a good time. It is a place where you can get a seat by the bar and still be able to talk to your friends. The only negatives are that there is a bad scent in the air and sometimes you have to wait in line for the bathroom. Make sure there is always music playing from the juke box. So it you in the area waiting in line to go to the Greatest Bar, head over to Sullys. read more
