Cold Smithwicks on draft. Wicked Good! Fun walking around a huge food court and stopping for a cold beer. It is your typical dive bar - Cash Only $$$

We stopped in here because it was hot outside and the sign said "$4.00 beers." Once inside we found out it was only Miller High Life that was $4.00. I had a Sam Adams Summer Ale & my husband had a Guinness. They were both cold and we didn't have to wait long to get served. It was kind of a dive bar, not much atmosphere, and the beers ended up being $9.00 each. (A little overpriced but not unheard of in a touristy area.). I used the bathroom while I was there and it was actually cleaner than I expected. I read some reviews complaining that it was cash only with little signage to warn customers; but we planned to pay with cash anyway, so not a problem. JJ Donovan's was a good place to escape the heat and have a cold beer; but I wouldn't make a special trip to go there.

Donovan's is such a fun atmosphere and great dive bar feel! Higgins was an amazing bartender making us feel at home. If you're looking for a dive bar this is the best bar to go to

I hated this place. It was my first time going to a dive bar, so we started with one that I'd walked by a thousand times and is usually pretty empty. The whole time we were there, the guy wouldn't talk to anyone but the man in our group. There was no food and very few options for drinks. I ended up getting a coke, which was weirdly warm. The other guests (though there were just a handful of people) seemed like real old regulars. It was weird, like getting dragged to your 2nd cousin's dad's favorite bar. Like if Cheers was about a bunch of cranky old people from Southie. We only stayed long enough for my brother in law to finish his beer.

Donovan's has a dingy atmosphere somewhere between a dive bar and a sports bar. When a local team plays it will play here and have a more sports bar feel. Otherwise it'll be laugh jukebox music and a moodier vibe like a dive bar. The drinks selection isn't large but they've got one version of all the big beer categories and can make most basic well drinks. The place is cash only and a bit pricey for a vibe ($8 beer, $1 jukebox songs) unless you're taking advantage of the specials. Still, a pretty fun place to hang out with passably nice service and in a good location.

Beware! Count your cash back, we were shorted $50! I guess too trusting and didn't count our cash back from a hundred.

It can be pretty tough finding something so good luck. Seating: It's 3 floors of vibes (depending on the day) but this is no hidden gem, if you're looking for a local vibe, check this place out. Vibes: The nice touristy side of Boston, walking distance to a few scenic things. As for the spot, think Irish bar meets full-on nightlife energy. One floor might have karaoke, another has DJs, and another is just people vibing with drinks. It's lively, a little chaotic (in a fun way), and definitely a younger crowd energy. FOOD/DRINKS: Drinks are solid and pretty affordable for Boston, which is always a win. They've got everything from beers and seltzers to margaritas and cocktails. This isn't a craft cocktail lounge--it's more of a "grab a drink and keep the night going" type of place. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! I needed water and they provided it, no problem! TL; DR OVERALL: 5 Stars. I didn't expect to have so much fun on a Monday night (the singing, the crowd participation, the dancing). What. A. Vibe. Maybe I got lucky but I hope you get this experience when you stop by.Fun, high-energy, and perfect for a night out with friends. Not the place for a quiet drink--but if you're trying to turn up a little and keep things moving, this is a solid stop in Boston. TIPS: *They seem to have something going on every night so check their website!

While the beautiful venue, incredible food, and attentive staff certainly deserve recognition, the true reason these events have been so successful is Rob, the Events Manager! From our very first conversation, Rob has been an absolute professional and a genuine partner in every sense of the word. Planning large-scale celebrations can be complex, but Rob makes the entire process feel effortless. He is responsive, thoughtful, detail-oriented, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure every aspect of the event exceeds expectations. His commitment to hospitality is evident in everything he does. He took the time to understand our goals, our students, and the significance of these celebrations. It is rare to find someone who combines professionalism, expertise, and warmth so naturally. The Events Team and staff reflect this standard. We tried the calamari rings, lobster roll, and Sail Loft Cup soup. The calamari was crispy without being overly heavy, the lobster roll was the highlight for me, and the Sail Loft Cup was a great choice alongside the seafood. Service five stars. Sometimes the best meals happen completely by accident!…read more We actually ended up here by default because the other place we were planning to go was WAY too busy. And honestly? I'm so glad we came here! First of all, the service was wonderful, and the view was just as amazing. But let's talk about the food... Of course, I had to get the lobster roll, and WOW -- I was in lobster heaven! There was SO much lobster meat packed into that roll. I got it with hot butter, which came on the side, so I could dip every delicious bite. Absolutely perfect! The fries and coleslaw were pretty good too. My sister went with the clam chowder and chicken salad. The cup of clam chowder was HUGE and delicious. She was kind enough to let me have a few bites, but that's where her generosity ended because she happily finished the rest. She also really enjoyed her chicken salad, especially since it was light on the mayo, exactly how she likes it. All in all, this little "backup plan" turned out to be a great decision. No regrets whatsoever! We left full, happy, and very satisfied. Definitely a place I'd come back to!
