I've attended a few events where Suma's kitchen was catering, so I was excited to go to the restaurant to try it out myself. Fortunately, the Wednesday special made it more enticing and convenient to finally check it out,especially when I live about half an hour away from the restaurant. Needless to say, I was NOT disappointed. Desi food is honestly one of my favorite foods even though my spice tolerance is not that high. I ordered mild for everything, but it was still super flavorful with a little zing. Everything I ordered was superb! We started with the papdi and samosa chaat- papdi is definitely the fan favorite! Crispy, flavorful, and filling! Tried the lamb birria tacos and it was soooo tasty! My 8 year old daughter loved it too and she's picky with tacos. She especially enjoyed dunking the taco into the delicious broth. A little on the spicy side, but so incredibly delicious. My daughter also got the butter chicken (which is also now my favorite) and I ordered the bhengan bharta (eggplant) and it was BOMBDOTCOM! I absolutely love eggplant, and this went so well with the garlic naan. I could literally eat this everyday!!! Since I'm also a big back apparently, I also ordered the Blanket Kabob, with the intention of giving it to husband but of course I had to take a bite for myself. The roti paired well with a delicious and succulent kabab The chai was a great finish to the meal. Definitely coming back. Not sure why some people be hating on this place other than they just be sipping too much haterade ‍. Good food is good food, and this place WAS DELICIOUS! The food tastes so fresh! I can't wait to come back! Owner was so sweet and very communicative. I love family businesses! Ambiance is very family friendly but I would come here for a date night. My husband was craving Papdi Chaat and it took us to the very doors of Suma's Kitchen. We were not disappointed at all, the food came out fresh and delicious. The owner, Suma, took our order and made sure our food came out as we liked (even easing up on the spice level). She was very kind and accommodating. Decor inside was fun and inviting. We loved all the neon signs, as well as all the Ramadan decor! Only drawback to this day was that their Tandoor cook was out sick so we weren't able to have any naan or any other tandoori dishes. Before I begin this review, I am not a friend of this owner, nor a family member. I'm very critical when it comes to restaurants and the following rating is my own personal experience. This is a small hole in the wall restaurant. Does the food come out in no time? No, because they make it fresh. My wife and I came here last week. I ordered the chicken Tikka and my wife ordered the cholay and bhatooray. Unlike other restaurants, the first thing Suma asked, is if we want the food to come together or cholay first. A lot of joints don't do this. It's annoying when you have your appetizers and entrees come at the same time. Suma gets cool points for that. Tikka came out sizzling, meat almost falling off the bone. When moms used to make this, it used to be red. Suma explains same flavor but doesn't do food coloring. I can respect that, and to be honest, one bite said it all. Tasted just like mom's Tikka when I was a wee little boy. Wife's cholay was amazing. I'm more of a meat eater but it was so good, I was contemplating on getting my own. Not over oily like Nani used to make w the oil dripping like an auto oil change- no Sumas dish was just right. Easy on the oil, fresh on the taste. Last but not least the dessert. Let me start out by saying this...No one really gets Faluda right. I've lived in Houston for years and know good desi food. Sumas faluda hit harder than an unpaid electric bill! Just like home, I'm serious! It was like getting it from the push carts in Karachi! Last, the most respected aspect any restaurant owner could do...Suma came herself with a note and pad and asked if there was anything she could do to make the food better. I have NEVER seen a restaurant owner do that EVER! Suma really cares about her customers and I pray her restaurant does extremely well. AMEEN!!! PS another cool point. The service here is unbelievably friendly. Very patient with explaining different dishes as our one friend is traveling to India soon and isn't well versed in the food. This is my third visit to Suma's Kitchen. The food is delicious. The service is personal and friendly. The ambience is unique and pleasing. I had the dinner buffet on a Sunday night for a book signing and I had a great time at the restaurant. While the food was excellent, I would like to especially call out the chicken tikka masala, naan, lamb achari, garlic chicken and the mixed vegetable biryani. I enjoyed the chicken tikka masala so much, that I placed an additional take out order. Some of the dishes are unique to the restaurant like the burnt garlic chicken and majestic chicken. If you're lucky and catch one of the owners, Asim Shafi, in the restaurant, he may even take your request and belt out a Mehdi Hasan ghazal or an old Bollywood classic. One unique innovation, at the restaurant, is an electronic button to summon your waiter if you need service. What a great idea! They have vegetarian options like saag paneer, vegetable biryani and many others. Parking is plentiful and the place is kid-friendly. We went for dinner, as someone recommended about this new desi place opening in Voorhees. Apart from servers , everything else was horrible. The food has no tase to it. Bihari boti tastes nothing like Bihari. Had no salt or taste to it. Kababs were super dry. Kheer tasted like out of the box. Super slow service. To top it off, the owner herself was there being super loud, entertaining her best friends family, which disturbed everyone else eating there. Not once she asked anyone else how the food was etc, but she was entertaining her friends like her house and treating the serving staff like her help by shouting their names out loud. Wow. Their food is amazing. I have not had food this good in a while. Trying a new restaurant, we kept it simple, Chicken Tikka, Naan, some kebab. My wife remarked several times, while eating, "I can't get over how good this is." I agree. We'll definitely be eating here again. Next time we plan on dining in, as while I was waiting for my food, I got to chatting with the staff and they were all very friendly and kind to my over-chatty self. Cute freshly renovated and menu overhaul under new mgmt. And the new mgmt is super friendly and personable. Usual Indian and Pakistani food options, with some unique options as well. Love the platters. The portion size are nice and large for a party of 4 where most places the curry comes in a little bowl that's barely enough for two ppl. They can adjust the spice levels, and everything is made to order. Takes a little time, but so worth it. The food is flavorful without being spicy highly recommend the beef Nahari, of course, the butter chicken and chicken tikka masala, the spinach paneer, dal, all the breads are really fresh and the kulcha has a nice crunchy garlic topping. Huge improvement from the previous owners in terms of ambiance. Food unfortunately is not so great. So far I tried the zinger burger and weekend breakfast platter The zinger burger was without the zing. Breakfast platter; cholay were sweet, Aloo was flavorless, halwa was not so good but puri was good. Overall 3/5 so far. I will try a few more dishes and update my review. read more

I personally had a very bad experience with this restaurant's treatment of customers. I placed an order over the phone, picked it up, and found out that an item was missing. When I called, they tried to argue that they sent it with my order. I spoke to three different people until I was told they do not offer refunds. we were in the neighborhood looking for something to eat and indian food is always a safe option for us so we called in an order of samosas, aloo palak, and some naan. when i tell you that palak was truly incredible I MEAN IT. we ended up waiting an hour for our food (30 minutes longer than they told us originally) and i'm still giving 5 stars anyway it was that good. the naan was standard but solid and the samosas were very good as well but we just couldn't get over the aloo palak, if you end up anywhere nearby it's definitely worth a drive to try the 1 dish alone. the inside of their establishment wasn't made for a "dining experience" necessarily but there's some tables and it looked pretty clean it would definitely suffice to sit down and eat your food. we will be back! read more

We ordered for take-out butter chicken, shrimp tikka masala and eggplant. The eggplant was OK-minus. The other dishes were essentially each a big bowl of sauce with very little meat/shrimp, with flavor lacking. Plenty of rice though. Perfect example of high rating (4.5) with few raters (6). Small, intimate restaurant. Owner is a very sweet, friendly young woman. I have been to most of the Indian/Pakistani restaurants in the area. The food here was as good or better than most. We went with friends who had not been out for Indian food. Server and owner were very helpful with picking dishes for them. If you haven't been to this restaurant, you really are missing a treat. It's like eating in somebody's home. Suma comes up to the table and strikes up a conversation. Wanting to know how long you've been coming to the restaurant, how you liked the food, and wanting to know your thoughts. And the food so good. My husband and I took our son and daughter-in-law to dinner. I always love chicken tiki marsala, but I decided to try something different and ordered the Bihari Boti as well as Spinach Paneer to share. The Bihari Boti with the onions came out in a cast-iron pan sizzling. The seasoning was amazing. I made everyone try it and everybody is like wow that is so good I was literally scraping the bottom of the pan to get every last bit. The paneer was so fresh tasting and the spinach consistency was not runny. It wasn't overly thick. It was just perfect. Both my husband and son got the butter chicken. I like butter chicken, but I wouldn't have said that's in my top three dishes that I would normally order. The butter chicken here was fantastic. My son said this is the best butter chicken he's ever had. We had some garlic naan, which was really nice dipping it into the butter chicken sauce and even took a sneaky dip in my daughter-in-law's shrimp marsala sauce. Yummm. We couldn't leave without getting some desserts, which were also very good. We left with a happy smile on our face. I would 100% recommend Suma's Kitchen to anyone in South Jersey. Very easy to get to being on Haddonfield Berlin Road. My daughter came up from Gibbstown on 295 and headed east, my son was coming from Marlton, so that was an easy trip. my husband who works up in Medford headed there after work and I came from Hammonton We came from the four corners of South Jersey and "dined" Together, which is not the same as eating together.
