In an effort to expose my son to different cuisines, I went looking for an Indian buffet so that he might be able to see the food before trying it and try a variety of things. I love Indian food myself, and am hoping he will come to love it too. My girlfriend, son and I came in on a Sunday for dinner. All three of us got the buffet, with no extras like mango lassis or garlic naan. For the three of us, including tax and tip, it cost $66.78. That got us a spread of basic Indian dishes like chicken tikka, vegetable korma, palak paneer, rice, naan, two soups, and a variety of fruits, among other things. The goat curry was absolutely outstanding to me - tender and flavorful. The other dishes were decent but nothing special. I'm glad to say my son enjoyed the tikka and the korma. The man in charge was super friendly and attentive, constantly checking on us for water and to clear any plates. Overall we enjoyed it and would come back. read more

We have been going to Gagan Palace for 30 years. It was our favorite. I have never posted a bad review anywhere. We just bought a dinner for $43.00. It was the worst meal I have ever bought. A Navaratan Korma that had no spices, heat or cream in it, no nuts or cilantro. Absolutely No Flavor or heat whatsoever, totally bland vegetable stew! Our local diner could have done better. A Chicken Tikka Masala also that had no tomato, spice or cream in it that also had NO flavor either. Naan was also dry and overdone. The restaurant is in new ownership and we went for their buffet a few weeks ago and it was ok. But this was dinner off the menu and I expected at least decent classic Indian food. About a month ago we drove here but it looked closed so we went elsewhere. A few weeks ago I was driving and was on the back side of the restaurant and saw the entrance! Modest decor and bigger than I expected from the outside. My son and I had incredible meals yesterday ! They offer a very reasonable buffet but we decided to order off the menu. We started with samosas and Naan. Both super good and of course I went heavy handed with the delicious Tamarind! I loved that the Naan was served uncut and like a mini pizza! Great plating and presentation! Look at my Biryani photo! Our portions were plentiful and so damned delicious! My son had a lamb dish that he flipped for. Very tender! Egg biryani was a first for me (I usually order chicken or shrimp). I absolutely loved it! It had some nuts and some greens that I couldn't put my finger on but loved the intertwined ingredients. It definitely worked! So-so friendliness - we're used to better interaction but it's cool - everyone is different. Lowest Indian food bill of all of our go tos; best bang for your buck! Well, been back to this place a few times since writing my last review. From what I can tell the bugs are gone but there's a new problem, they don't seem willing to run their air conditioner, so I hope you like eating in a super hot dining room (see attached image). When I left the room had only been cooled down to about 83, so the AC isn't broken they're just being cheap with it for some reason (this wasn't an issue when I used to come here around the time of my last review). I don't think I'll be coming back until the cooler months, because honestly it's crazy trying to eat Indian food inside of a place that feels like the inside of an oven. read more

I used to come here in person but in recent years since I became handicapped I use DoorDash. The food is unchanged; delicious and perfectly prepared Indian cuisine. My favorite is the Navrattan (vegetarian) Korma. The sauce is very creamy with a perfect mouthfeel and contains nine soft and flavorful vegetables. It comes with a generous serving of hot rice and is a filling and lovely dinner. Also excellent are the butter chicken and the chicken tikka masala. I have tried multiple Indian restaurants in this area and this is by far the best. The Naan bread and the desserts are also wonderful. The prices are reasonable and you can't go wrong here. However a larger party came in, about 12 people, although the table was 6 feet from our booth I felt that there were other tables that they could have sat them at that was further away from ours. We were done eating, so I didn't ask to be moved. The food was good, my dish was spicy although it didn't list that it was spicy in the description. There was a sweet raisin sauce that I used to cool the spicy heat. During non-Covid times they offer buffet, not a buffet fan so if I do come again it will be for table service again. Gagan Palace has been one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the Stratford/Voorhees, NJ area for many years. Shame on me for raving about it before now! When I dined inside, the service was always great and everyone was friendly and courteous and they made sure that you had a great dining experience. That said, the food here is very authentic. The Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, Shrimp (or Chicken) Saag (made with curried spinach), Biryani and Meat Samosas are my go-to dishes. Always fresh and well seasoned. I used Grub Hub for delivery today and am glad that I did! Gagan Palace is tucked away in a shopping plaza in Stratford directly across from the PATCO High-Speed Line on one side and along a fast-moving White Horse Pike (Route 30) on the other side. As an Indian reviewer, this was the worst Indian buffet I've ever had. All the curries were watered down. The food was barely warm. It looked like they went next door to the Indian store and bought all the frozen curries and warmed it up in the microwave to serve. The chicken tikka masala was very weird. Went to try this Indian place today. The food was ok but not made with TLC. I had the goat chili masala. The sauce was good but the goat needed more time to cook and become tender. It was very tough. I have had goat dishes before at other Indian restaurants that were tender this was not: I brought it to the waiter and he was very nice and understanding and accommodating. He offered to make me a lamb chili masala to take home with me to try. My wife had the chicken tikka masala. She thought it was ok as it didn't have an authentic texture. Before their large space now, it was a fairly small restaurant seating maybe 20-30 people at best. Good times- cant say I've dined in since their expansion. Ive done so much takeout from here and have tried so many of their dishes. All so delicious. Literally everything so good. Over the years I have noticed some of there main street dishes like tikka masala have become less flavorful (knocking them down a star). I wish it tasted as authentic as it once did. This was my second or third time at this buffet. I've accidentally come here multiple times, all with the same conclusion- super good! Large spread on the buffet, fresh naan to the table, FREE mango lassi for each guest (at least on Sunday), plus gulab jamun for dessert, soup and a veggie/salad bar, and everything in between. The goat curry was filled with tender meat and thick sauce, the tikka masala was made with chicken bursting with flavor, and the naan was so buttery and flaky. Pakora, korma, and palak paneer were my favorites, but there was nothing on the buffet that I ignored. Decent buffet, does the trick for about $12 a person. We came in on the weekend in the early afternoon. As someone who truly enjoys international cuisine, I do like to try different dishes and am always willing to try just a taste of the unfamiliar - hence, buffets are great for testing! Overall, everything was good. The thing is... I had no idea what I was eating, other than chicken tikka and the fried vegetables. Everything else was labeled with just a name, and I had no idea what I was eating.Was I eating plant, animal or mineral? OK, so the goat curry, got that! I tried a goat curry dish, chicken Tikka masala, vegetable samosa, and masala tea. The tea and samosas were very good. I would say that the chicken dish did not have the depth of flavors that I'm used to at a four or five star Indian restaurant. It was a little flat on the flavor profile. Not bad, but not at that upper tier. The goat was the same in this regard, it was good, but the depth of flavors wasn't there . Gagan Palace is probably the best Indian buffet we've had in South Jersey. The food is always delicious, and has the right amount of heat--far too often Indian buffets put out very bland food, but not Gagan Palace. Also, they run a lunch AND dinner buffet all six days they are open (closed on Monday). There are always a good number of dishes available as well (typically always have at least one chicken curry dish, goat curry, a bunch of vegetarian options, and have a healthy appetizer bar, including vegetarian and meat options). The buffet also includes a beverage (mango lassi is good), along with unlimited masala dosa and Kati rolls! And all this for just $11 for lunch or $13 for dinner! The restaurant is in an alley of a strip mall. Driving into the strip mall and almost missed the place. There's a sign to walk into the alley next to the Indian supermarket. The place is very run down. I can see that the restaurant was opened for a long time. May be some would see this as authentic? Everything in the restaurant is so old. Booths are along the walls and tables are in the middle. Utensils look like they're from ancient times and got beat up from thousands of uses. There was only one waiter during Sunday lunch time. As we sat down, the server didn't come to ask if we need any drink. 15 minutes in after we already went to get our food from the buffet, we have to call and ask for mango lassi. Mango lassi was from a gallon jug, very watery, but still no water. The food was ok. Veggie samosa is good. Other things are so so. More of the vegetarian options. Gulab jamun tasted weird. The sticky serving spoons and the very old food open/close thingy turned me off. After I was done with my plate, I asked for water and mango lassi refill. That's when I got my water. Smh. To top that there was a big table next to us getting ready to leave as we came in. They had a pitcher of mango lassi about half full. I don't know how long the people were at the table nor the pitcher had been sitting there. After I asked for mango lassi refill, the server walked to that the table next to us (people left from that table), took that mango lassi pitcher left over from other guests and pour it to my glass. A pretty decent find for Indian food in very close proximity to the PATCO Lindenwold Train Station. Visiting Gagan Palace for its dinner buffet, the food was heavy, but very well seasoned and moderately spicy. Some options such as the goat curry, biryani, and palak paneer (spinach with cheese) were very well prepared, while some other dishes, like the chicken tikka masala were a bit dry. There was a nice variety of sauces and chutneys, allowing room for experimentation. I would suggest starting off with the vegetarian Sambar. Flavorful and moderately spicy, it paired well with the pani puri. Lastly, sodas, mango lassis, fresh garlic naan (get this!), dosas, and skewers were all included.
