Had these guys recommended to us to come unclog a kitchen drain. He asked to come early but still…read morearrived an hour late, started ripping apart the drain without a bucket to catch the water and then laying the nasty dirty pipes on our 6' long woven kitchen mat, rather than a blanket, a paper towel or even the tile floor. The snake did not work and actually got stuck for awhile but that's because the pipes were very bad & could not be unclogged as it was legitimately bad 70 yr old galvanized pipes completely corroded and blocked. So, after multiple methods & tries, I agreed that we needed to replace about 10' of old galvanized pipe with PVC and the basic older PVC drain components under the sink. Understandably, they could not come back until the following day since the scope of work had changed. The actual plumber (very nice guy, decent work, but VERY MESSY) scheduled his return for 8:30 the next day, and estimated 4 hrs of work for $1,100 + materials, tbd. As we were left without a kitchen sink, since he got us in for the next morning & was recommended by a friend and fellow plumber, I agreed to the high labor estimate, knowing it there was a chance that it could take more than 4 hrs and signed for the labor, while my wife spent 2 hrs that night cleaning our kitchen mat from drain grease. Next morning, I had to go to work so my wife took the day off. Midmorning, I'm getting texts from her asking for his number as no one had shown up and I had not heard anything. Again, over an hour late, but shows up and gets the job done in about 2.5 hrs. As he's leaving, he asks for almost $1,500. She says, ok, please just give me the break-down for the materials. He has to call the office, puts my wife on the phone with the brother who refuses to provide an itemized list of material costs. Plumber leaves, wife pays the agreed upon labor charge of $1,100 for 4 hrs that took 2.5, no questions asked. Wife says she will pay materials, even marked up materials, if she is given a breakdown (again, this was 10' of 2-1/2" PVC and a few fittings). Mind you, I'm an Executive Construction Project Manager for nearly 20 yrs. I receive an email with a list of random items, no prices, including boxes of rags, latex gloves, boxes of glue, etc. I tell wife to get a real breakdown before settling after already paying the inflated labor cost. My wife then receives a barrage of texts threatening escalation unless "agreed upon" material costs are not paid...but no materials were agreed upon and they refused to provide material details. I get out of work and start receiving the same texts...for hundreds of dollars of materials that they refuse to itemize. On top of that, the mess left was insane and I later found he left a 6" piece of old nasty piping in the wall that I had opened up for them, stinking up the bsmt, dripping old grease down the walls. Never again...talk about choosing their battles Talk about choosing your battles...and knowing when to stop arguing with customers.

Not quite sure how places like this stay in business…read more.. Called a week ago, left name and number "someone will get back to you in a day or two" I waited an entire week before calling again. This should have been my first sign that this place is not dependable. Instead, I called back a week later. "I can come by tomorrow, how does 10-11 work?" great I said, see you then. 11 comes and goes, at 1:08 I call asking what's going on. "I'm running late, I will be there within the hour" it's now 4:07 as a write this. No phone call, no show, No explanation. I wasted my entire day waiting for these jokers, and they never showed up. Needless to say I will be doing business elsewhere. If you want someone dependable, and reliable, this place is NOT IT. 7:27 PM still no call, no show. Not that I expected it at this point. If I did this At my job I would be fired.

He never called me to let me know that he was running late. Did not fix the issue and do the work correctly and charged me $300. For the initial appointment, after the repair, I paid in full, my check was cashed, was told I had a 1 year warranty. However, a few days later my leak got worse and I had to keep calling and calling with no call back for my second appointment. II left several voicemails at the office and the Plumbers cell phone and then the last time (4 days after the leak got worse and I was worried about my kitchen flooding) and called in desperation and stated that I would contact the BBB. Finally got a call back. The Plumber came, told me that I provided a defective part and thus the leak/repair was not fixed. He also stated that since he has to come our again because I provided a defective part, he would have to charge me $150 to come out again. I mentioned that wouldn't this be under warranty, he stated, no since I provided a defective part. I actually had purchased the brand new faucet from Home Depot. I went back to Home Depot and Home Depot informed me that there was nothing wrong with the part. I purchased another part and then contacted the Plumber to schedule an appointment and he gave me the run around and said he did not appreciate me questioning his work. I finally stated that I found someone else to do the repairs. I found someone else to do the work and they repaired and installed my kitchen faucet the first time. I will not recommend this business. I felt totally ripped off.

The sink faucet was dripping from underneath unbeknownst to us and the cabinet was damaged by the water. We had purchased a new faucet that was different in color but seemed to be the same structure as the one that was currently there. I attempted to change it myself, however, the spacing beneath the sink was too small for me to fit any tools with me under there. I contacted this company and left a message with their answering service. I received a call a few days later by a Thomas who told me that they had an opening on Thursday which was 4 days later and that the charge would be beginning at $309.00. I took off from work on Thursday and awaited the arrival of the company which he had stated would be between 12 and 2pm. At 1130 I received a call from Thomas stating that he had a customer with an emergency flooding in his basement and that he would not be able to come to fix our sink faucet. He further told me that this customer brings him a lot of business. We had been washing our dishes in the bathroom sink the whole week and this was frustrating because I took a day off of work that I couldn't really afford to take. However, I felt I was at their mercy and he said he would call to reschedule on Friday morning. That call to this day, never came. We are a hard working family and not rich, I can only afford to fix things in our home little by little. But this company made me feel as if I was completely insignificant which I guess to them I am. I had "too small" of a job for them. I let my anger direct me and turned it into positivity. We pulled the sink out (it is a ceramic iron sink) a few cuts, scrapes and bruises later, we fixed the sink ourselves. All for 100 dollars. Needless to say, I'm too small a customer for this company, they only respond to people who bring them loads of business. I was never given that opportunity. I'll never know if they are a good company and I would never call them again for absolutely anything. Thanks Thomas.

Two weeks ago we discovered our hot water heater wasn't working…read more The temp indicator was below 90 . We called our Oil provider first because we had a service contract. When he arrived later that day the temperature had recovered to 130 degrees. He speculated that the issue was with the aquastat (thermostat inside the tank). the unit is 18 years old and he thought the thermstat get corroded and eventually stops calling for re heating. The oil company e mailed a quote for replacing the tank, parts and labor. $4500.00. We decided to get a local quote and called New Concepts. Tom came out and looked at the total system and quoted us a price of $3600. I told him to go ahead and order the tank. The next day (friday) zero hot water. I called Tom to let him know. He called back and said he would come over Saturday morning to take another look and possibly restore the hot water until we got a new tank. On Saturday Tom came over and took another look at the system. About 20 minutes after he came he called me down to the basement he held up a part from the control box and told me the problem wasn't the tank after all We had a bad relay switch. He went to the plumbing supply distributor and came back and installed the new switch. Along with the switch he replaced one or two other external parts that were old. The total cost of resolving our problem was $526.00. Tom was prompt very skilled and ethical. He could of sold us a new tank and the relay and we never would of suspected anything amiss. But he didn't. We live in Cheshire Ct. (yelp has us in San Francisco)
