This is our favorite restaurant in Anderson. The food is excellent! We've never had a bad meal or bad experience here. I love that they strive to use fresh local ingredients, which not only helps the community, but really makes for exceptional quality meals. I live on the lake but will make the drive over to Summa Joe's because it is worth it. Chicken Picatta is probably the most tender chicken I've tasted and the Lamb Lolli-pop and Chicken Lolli-pop dishes were excellent. You have got to splurg and eat his homemade cakes...........unbelievable. There is only one night of the week I'd suggest avoiding only because they feed kids pizza for free....can't remember what night so call to check....just a little noisy. The only reason the rating is low is because of the noise. Granted, it was family night, and there were many kids with their pizza specials, but we almost walked out because of the screaming. However, we were curious about the good online reviews, and my uncle, grandmother and I were not disappointed with the food quality and taste. We waited about 20 minutes, which seemed longer because we couldn't really converse at our table without yelling. My family returned for lunch on a school day and the ambiance was better, and the food was just as good. My advice is to make it very clear in your advertising which days might have potentially loud patrons. I'll be back, just not on one of THOSE days. read more

This was our first time here, but certainly will not be the last! The lamb lollipop appetizer was delicious. Their salads were fresh with the best mustard vinaigrette ever! I had a very unique pizza that was on special that night, and my friend had a chicken florentine pasta. Both were amazing. You could really taste the freshness in the ingredients. What a dive. The floor is 50 years old with dirt extending out from the baseboards for 2 inches. Waited 35 minutes for a table with nowhere to sit. Ugly diner tables 35 years old with torn uo vinyl chairs. The most hideous wall decoration I've seen in a long time. Had to ask twice for a straw for my mothers water. Clam Chowder was gritty. Food was nothing special. not worth the wait. My "Italian Stalion" sandwich was greasy. Food took forever to come out and missing one of the Cordon Blue plates that we ordered. Eventually cancelled the Cordon Blue. Asked for an extra napkin...... never got it. Waiter didn't ask us if we wanted another drink even though we waited forever for our food. Place was very loud. No salt or pepper on the table. It sucked. We'll never go back. Paid our bill and laughed all the way back to the car about the place. I'd give it less than one star if that was possible. read more

I found this gem of a restaurant on TripAdvisor while looking for high quality southern cuisine. The sheer number of good reviews swayed me to try it. It took thirty minutes to be seated, as it was extremely busy. Once we got a table, we were swiftly serviced by a kind gentleman. I went with a Caesar salad and the daily special of seared tilapia, with ginger soy glazed vegetables, and a side of jasmine rice. First off, the Caesar dressing is made in house, and the greens were beautiful and grown locally. I could tell just by my salad that I was going to enjoy my time there. Once the entree came, I was in pure bliss. The tilapia was cooked to perfection. It was easily the best piece of fish that I've ever had. Somehow, the ginger soy sauce had transformed the vegetables into something irresistible. You would think something as simple as rice would be plain, but the rice was great as well. The sweet tea tasted like it was freshly brewed just a couple of hours prior to being in my cup as well. For desert, I tried the chocolate chip bread pudding. The syrup that they serve with it made it hard to put down the spoon. It was fantastic. Our waiter was top notch, and the chefs definitely work some magic in that kitchen. Having an open kitchen is a treat as well, being able to see them create art on a plate. The prices are slightly high ($20 for my tilapia plate) but the quality is well worth your money.
