This was our first time dining here, and I'm not sure why we hadn't tried it sooner -- perhaps the location or the "fine dining" label set a different expectation for us. In reality, it feels more like a casual restaurant with fine dining prices. The tables lack tablecloths and are positioned quite close together, which made the space feel tight. At times, staff appeared to struggle navigating between tables. The food and overall experience were good, but I'm not sure it fully justifies the price point. read more

Sullivans NEVER disappoints! With all the restaurants in nearby Greenville, some of which are great, and most of which are FAR overpriced, Sullivan's just continues to offer an amazing dining experience, fantastic service, and an overall 10/10. Mary Faith helped us last night, and we had a delightful time. Please ask for her by name. My wife had Trigger Fish, which was a special, and I had the Goat Cheese stuffed pork chops, which are always on the menu. We love Sullivans! Most recently dined the night before Fathers Day (2026), for my husbands first Father's Day. We had Andie as our server and she was just absolutely phenomenal. We had our 7 month old with us and she was so sweet with our baby, helped me find a place to change her and helped us pack up my leftover entree before leaving. They recently updated their menu and thankfully my mainstays made the cut the STUFFED BONE IN PORK CHOPS with goat cheese, balsamic onions, garlic whipped potatoes AND the Peanut Butter Pie as my dessert. Yum yum yum yum yum as always!! But I'm getting ahead of myself. For the appetizer, we opted for the THAI COCONUT SCALLOPS- coconut curry sauce, julienned red bell peppers, fresh basil, candied cashews... the scallops were so delicate and perfectly seared paired with the curry sauce... these hit! Not being much of a scallop fan, hubby loves them but for me they are hit or miss, that's saying a lot. Hubby opted for BLACKENED RED DRUM with cajun rice pilaf with andouille sausage, celery, onion, red bell peppers, lemon crema and his was good but mine was better though I may be a tad biased He got the NY Cheesecake and this is really the first time I've liked cheesecake. Idk what they do differently but it was amazing! Usually I think cheesecake is too idk cheesecakey lol but this was so much more balanced and lighter than any I've ever had. Delicious! Tried twice and had such a negative experience both attempts. First attempt to eat here: We were visiting Anderson for a few hours of antique hunting and decided it was time to stop and get a glass of wine. Two people at the hostess stand and the female was sweet enough and explained that they actually CLOSE in the afternoon for a few hours. I had said that we were just looking for a glass of wine and wanted to enjoy the building itself. Nope. Not happening. So we turned around to get back on the street and the guy yells to our backs, "Do you want the dinner menu?" Nope!! Last time (about a week ago) we were in Anderson during the appropriate lunch hours and this time we were interested in lunch as well as some wine. We walked in and hung out at the hostess stand and were completely ignored. We poked our heads into the bar area and not a soul was in there! We returned to the hostess stand and yeah, no one came to inquire how we might be helped. Done trying. read more

I had visited Sullivan's once before for lunch and found it reasonably priced with good food, so I decided to return for our Father's Day celebration. Unfortunately, this experience was very disappointing. The buffet (no menu option) featured several issues. The skirt steak was extremely tough and overly fatty, making it nearly inedible. The sliced pork was dry, though the ham was decent (just sliced paper-thin). The salmon was very good, as were the green beans cooked in bacon grease and the macaroni and cheese looked good. They also offered other Southern-style sides with creamy sauces. The dessert room was clearly the main attraction--there was a long line of people waiting for it. My biggest complaint is the price and the automatic gratuity. At approximately $37 per adult, the cost felt outrageous for the quality of food provided. Our waitress was polite and simply brought us two Coca-Colas, yet they automatically added a 20% gratuity to the bill (over $14 just for two sodas). I had no opportunity to tip based on the service, which is especially frustrating when typical lunch gratuity is 15%. Sullivan's only offers this special Sunday buffet a few times a year. For two people, you can easily spend around $100. In my opinion, it's simply not worth it. read more

Nice little place right near Anderson SC. Ambiance was a little different. Right in the middle of an opening inside a small mall but cute. Very busy for a Wednesday night. Started with drinks and their famous hush puppies. They were good, not the best and the sauce was just ok. I ordered the ahi with seaweed salad and rice with crab and cream cheese. The fish was very good cooked rare. Just seared. There was too much of the seaweed salad and there was a huge portion of the rice. Could barely eat 1/2 but tasty. All the dishes looked good. Everyone at my table had desserts and they looked really good. Large. Overall a good solid place. read more

This place was super good a little pricey but definitely worth it. We had Heather as our waitress she was super sweet and friendly, and all of our food was amazing. We had the fried burrata and bacon wrapped quail as appetizers and those were phenomenal and got the key lime pie for dessert and as an old south florida resident this was the closest I've gotten to a key lime pie from key west in awhile which if you have key west key lime you know how difficult it is to find one even comparable and they did exactly that. Drinks were strong and super good, I was debating between two different drinks and I asked the waitress to surprise me with one of the two so I can't remember the name of which one I got but she said she gave me her favorite and I fully see why it was her favorite. I tried Sullivan many years ago when I lived in Anderson and I really enjoyed the food along with my friends. This time and after so many years, I was invited to lunch at Sullivan's and the experience was just as good. Service was very attentive. We were a group of 11 adults and a child. Many of us ordered the mushroom bisque soup which was delicious. I ordered a cup which was just enough. I also ordered the salmon dish. It is served with risotto and I chose a side salad. What I didn't realize though until the food was served was that Sullivan's lunch menu is half size, not sure if it's for every entreé but my salmon dish was definitely served as "half salmon" When the waitress placed it in front of me. Salmon was cooked perfectly but I did find one bone in it. Not a big deal. The risotto was a tad bit Chewier than I am used to and it was a little on the dry side. Still the flavors were great and worked very well together. I got a side grits for my daughter and she didn't like it and honestly neither did I. It was not as good as I remember it used it to be when I visited the restaurant many years ago. It was also very dry and had a lot of black pepper. We were offered dessert but we didn't go for any because we were already full. They had some good looking cakes on display close to the kitchen though. Place was beautifully decorated. Another 5-star experience at Sullivan's. We were celebrating a birthday and this is such a good spot we decided to make the 1-hour drive. Bethanie was a delightful and informative waitress and offered some helpful suggestions, the first if which was to order the bacon-wrapped quail appetizer that cane on a delicious plantain cake. we paired it with a 2022 Montinore Pinot Noir that was also great with our trigger fish and stuffed pork chop entrees (yes, we got the same entrees we have before but they're SO GOOD. (And I'm having one of the two stuffed chops as a follow-up dinner tonight!). Dessert was a mocha Heath cake that Bethanie recommended - excellent, and more than we could finish (so, tonight's dessert!). Sullivan's is now our go-to place for special dinners and where we'll definitely take friends or family when they visit. read more

Anniversary celebration. A special weekend getaway. A trip down memory lane. All of the above. For our second night out dining experience, my Fav Fab One chose Sullivan's Metropolitan Grill, based on the reviews and the photos of the intrigue of the building itself. We did the adult dress up thing we love so much... We were lucky to be seated at a wonderful upstairs 2-top table right next to the railing overlooking the hustle and bustle of Sullivan's below. We watched diners dining, and servers serving. The atmosphere is a big part of the 'flavor'. Our server extraordinaire was Ryan, who normally is wearing the shoes of Manager but tonight was eagerly tending tables. This young man gave us everything, and more, of his passion for his workplace. We sympathize for all of the staff that runs UP and DOWN a 2-flight staircase, to service the lucky upper level diners! I started out with a cup of the Lobster Bisque. The flavor was on point with bits of lobster, no chunks. I love my soups. Ryan then delivered our side salads, which were nicely plated and enjoyable to eat. Fab One ordered the Twin Filets dinner, which is 2 filet mignon cuts served with fried tobacco onions, apple-bacon butter, truffle parmesan mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. Ordered Medium Rare, she really enjoyed her menu choice. (And I know that look...) I opted for what I felt would be a Masterpiece. The Horseradish Encrusted New York Strip Steak, accompanied by bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp, roasted fingerling potatoes, chiffonade spinach and a truffle-tomato demi. Ordered Med Rare. Now, based on what transpired next, I truthfully was in a quandary as to whether or not to even write a review. BUT, responsible reviewing means the truth must prevail. As for the presentation of my NY Strip, it was marvelous. (see photo). Once I cut into it, I noticed immediately it was rather bouncy and tough to cut. One bite and I was completely underwhelmed. It was quite chewy. There was little to no taste, even with the abundance of salt and seasoning rubbed in. And the 'encrusted' horseradish was merely a buttering of unmelted presence on top of the steak. The accompanying shrimp were nicely sized, but the bacon wrapping was almost raw, being completely limp and diaphanous, or see-through. With virtual sorrow, I summoned our server Ryan. Understand that I NEVER feel the need to address issues with my food and I most certainly cannot remember when I've ever had to send food back to the kitchen. Ryan was quick to address my concerns and disappointment. We discussed some other options. Ultimately, I decided to try the Chargrilled Ribeye instead. With swift priority I received my Med Rare Ribeye. Again, Ryan was the ideal combination of server, manager and veritable bon vivant. The Ribeye I got was cooked perfectly and had the proper chew and texture. I will confide that I did NOT care for the 'exotic mushroom saute' that was drizzled over my steak. I felt it was overpowering and it hid the flavor complexities of the cut of beef. But that was not a 'send back' offense. Overall, THE saving grace for our celebratory evening was Ryan, my Fab One's Twin Filets dinner, and a slice of Key Lime Pie. In closing, I come away with nice memories of ambiance, time spent with my lady and attention to detail a la Ryan. But, as other reviewers have stated, I too feel the prices are a little exorbitant, in general. read more

Ate here for lunch on a Friday around 1:30pm. The restaurant was almost empty. Our espresso martinis were tasty but they tasted more like a chocolate martini. My husband's salmon was sad. First it came out very overcooked. Second, it was served on a small dessert plate...sad presentation for one of their "Main Events." Third, the serving was super small, two little pieces of salmon, each about the size of a fifty cent piece. There were no tomatoes or basil. Fourth, the server forgot the salad that came with it. The smash burger was well plated...probably about the best thing we ordered. The crawfish crabcake was also presented very plainly...just a small crabcake and a piece of okra. The fried green tomatoes were well sized but they weren't hot and crispy, and the chowchow was just pickled slaw and a few jalapenos. Service was rare and slow. Ambiance was actually very nice...pretty and festive with the Christmas tree lit and decorated. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day, maybe they should only have one seating and not stay open til 2pm, or maybe we should have had lunch somewhere else. read more

Visited 3/5/2020 - came in town with my girlfriend who was visiting for an out of town conference where we stayed at the Bleckley Inn and had happy hour at J. Peters. We had researched this place for dinner prior to coming and were excited to learn how close it was to the hotel and happy hour spot. Our waiter was very nice. I believe his name was Jeffrey or something with a J. He explained the menu and the local town and told us about himself, and we did the same. He recommended the steak and we dined on that and then suggested desert. We had a couple of shots of patron so I forgot to take pictures but I did end up tipping him all the cash I had. Came here for a ladie's night out with my friends while on a family NYE trip. This place did not disappoint!!! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The duck fries have a chipotle sauce which gives the dish a bit of a kick. We all ordered entrees that is served with a salad and a piece of bread. I ordered the hanger steak, my friends ordered the risotto special and the gnocchi. Both of them added chicken. We originally came for the cheesecake as my friend who lives in the area heard from many other people it is better than the cheesecake factory. Our waiter Jeff informed us they make all of their desserts. He also placed our dessert on hold when we placed our dinner order to ensure they did not run out. For dessert we all ordered cheesecake, that night they also had coconut cake and chocolate cake. I ordered the s'mores cheesecake, and the ladies ordered the pecan praline and brownie cheesecake. All three had a wonderful flavor and rich. The restrooms are very clear and in the women's restroom they also have sanitary items available as well. The staff was very friendly and our waiter,Jeff made sure to we were well taken care of us. Sullivan's is on the pricer side but you will receive delicious food with quality care. read more
