The weather was perfect for a nice walk about town, getting fresh air with our little yorkie GracieBaby. As we walked up the stairs from Wren Park we decided to stop in for a bite at Doolittles. Sitting on the patio on such a lovely evening next to the water fountain was so nice and relaxing while getting to meet some of the local neighbors. We are new in town and everyone is so friendly! Our server came out promptly and got us set up with menus and took our drink orders. There were several things on the menu I was torn over but decided on the Bourbon Chicken. My husband debated between the Fish & Chips or the Carolina Cuban, settling on the latter with the Sweet Corn Sauté. Neither disappointed. The Bourbon Chicken with broccoli and rice was delicious, although I would prefer maybe a little less sauce as it was almost a soup lol but I'd still order it again. My husband loved the Carolina Cuban. The flavors go so well together that even me not being a huge sandwich person would consider getting it on a future visit. The Sweet Corn Sauté was a nice compliment to the dish as well. Oh, and dinner was Gracie approved! She enjoyed her little bites of chicken, smoked pork and ham as well ;) And finally I want to give a shout out to our server Charlie! Her attentiveness and sweet personality played such an integral part in making our evening so great! Also I'd like to mention that we've been to Doolittles once before, just for drinks with friends after dinner at Maki. We had such a fun time that night! Another pleasant visit to Doolittle's. Did you know they make all of their sauces and dressings in house? They do! The best blue cheese this side of Stumphouse tunnel. The ambiance is always on point. We sat outside by the fountain this time and listened to the Thursday night music at Wren Park. If the weather permits I would recommend sitting outside every time. Have eaten many times at Doolittle's and usually a good experience. Not tonight. My husband ordered a steak that was so sub par he sent it back after one bite. My fish and chips arrived and I sent it back because it looked burnt. Upon receiving my re-fired order, it became apparent that the problem was dirty oil. We ordered the shepherds pie and the fish and chips. The shepherds pie had stewed hamburger as the base, corn, green beans (canned) and carrots (which I don't like, but that's my problem), garlic mashed potatoes slathered with cheese. Tasted like a warm stew. Very flavorful and filling. The fish and chips were tasty. The batter was extra crispy and the dish was flakey. French fries were fresh with skin on, the coleslaw was Just cabbage with dressing which my husband enjoyed; simple and sweet. Tarter sauce and ketchup is served with it. The waitress was very nice. The prices are reasonable. We came for lunch. The ambiance is rustic. There is a work e room and the benches are leather and backs are upholstered with velvet print. Late lunch today. The Ribeye was about 1/4" thick, like one at some interstate waffle breakfast place. That thin is tough to cook like a steak, and it was a bit tough. Neither the wine nor the beer were first choice. The salad was perhaps a "Spring Mix" that some prefer. Frankly, I call it the weedeater special. No lettuce, just sprigs. Meeeh. Can I just tell you how much I love this restaurant????? Menu is so eclectic, fresh, inspiring and food is great! I love the quaintness of the restaurant pared with the small bar area. So comfortable, friendly and great food. I have to admit, my daughter told us not to go there...the reason was, she said, it was full of old people. Well, I invited her to join me after I got there. I showed her the mix of ages in the restaurant. All the way from Clemson College kids to senior citizens! Great mix of ages and people! She was sooo wrong. I don't give very many five star reviews but this place was phenomenal! Kelly was a fantastic server even though she was doing tables inside and outside! Hostess was very friendly as well. Beautiful outdoor seating area too. Plenty of great beer selections, the Matilda was delicious! The crab melt sandwich will literally melt in your mouth... So fresh and very tasty. Love REAL fries! I've eaten here three or four times. I ordered the hamburger medium rare. It came back well done. Not that impressed with this restaurant.

It also has red peppers and asparagus in it, which you might think is weird, but it actually gives you two appetizers for the price of one: calamari and fried vegetables. The tempura batter is nice and lightly done and the sweet chili sauce that is served with provides a good tang. This could've been a one time issue, but it did seem oversalted from the kitchen. It's not my first choice to go, but it has a kid-friendly menu, sometimes live entertainment and outside seating near a fountain. Started off with having to ask for sugar for coffee twice, 10 min later got it. Appetizer, cold My husband got a $17 crab cake sandwich, Mac N cheese, was Kraft shells and cheese. We were trying to decide between this place and Tifudi. We decided on Tifudi but parked in front of Doolittle's. We got out to cross the street but the wind was blowing so hard and it was freezing so we decided to just go in Doolittle's. Man, we are super glad we made that decision! The food was SUPERB! Amanda was our server and she was super nice. We started off with calamari and Buffalo thigh bites. Calamari was basic but good and the bites were unique! So tasty! I ended up with the black and blue steak potato salad.... Lord hammercy! Def hit the spot!! Hubby got the taco salad in a spinach shell! Everything was really satisfying! This hole in the wall is great for a Friday night in downtown Anderson. The live music and strung lights creates a welcoming environment for families and friends. We got the bbq nachos to start off the night and were not disappointed. For my meal I ordered the pretzel turkey and pimento cheese sandwich with sweet potato fries. Holy mushroom soup! Delicious! Hubby and I walked the downtown district for a hot minute trying to decide on a lunch spot. This was the winner. Moody ambiance and friendly service. He ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and a cup of mushroom soup. I ordered the grilled cheese and seasonal vegetables. Seasonal vegetables had a little bit of a kick to them.
