Northies rejoice! This part of town has been overrun with Starbucks for too long and I've been patiently waiting for a decent coffee shop to pop up. Thank goodness Summer Moon is here. Being pregnant I don't get to have coffee much, so when I do, it better be good. (I am actually writing this review as I plot my next visit.) While they have a lot of the standard variations of coffee and espresso, their Moon Milk is what makes them extra special. Another reviewer said it's like crack and I have to agree. I am normally a bit of a purist with my coffee, drinking it either black or with just a little cream, but not here. The Winter Moon is my favorite summer treat. Plus the aesthetic is nice, there is always parking and the baristas are friendly and very efficient so I have never waited long. See you again soon Summer Moon! read more

It's a great place with friendly people and great coffee. But there mobile orders need some work. The whole point of mobile order is that you order ahead of time so that when you get there it's ready at the time your order confirmation states it will be ready. This is not the case. I've had to wait over 40 minutes for an order that was said to be ready in 10 minutes. Again it's a great place. But if they can keep up with their in store orders and mobile orders at the same time then they shouldn't be doing mobile orders. read more

A nice, bright place to study. I ordered a chai latte so I didn't try their coffee but I will the next time I come here based off all these good reviews! The wifi was fast and I didn't have problems at all with the connection. When I visited, the place was completely packed. However, within an hour, it was less busy and had plenty of seating. It hurts my heart to update this review. We've been supporting Summermoon, literally, for years. We lived above their original location on S. 1st in 2011 and have given them a ton of business over the years, even supporting them after moving. We just stopped by at 6:02p to buy multiple bags of whole coffee beans at the Burnet location. The door was wide open, open sign was on, and as we parked an employee began bringing in outdoor tables. My husband ran up and asked if he could quickly buy whole bean prepackaged coffee bags; no drinks, etc. She looked inside, said sorry we're closed, but you can come back tomorrow! We'll have to think about continuing to give them our business. This world needs a little extra kindness right now and I'm sure local business need support as well. Love SUMMER MOON! My drink is always perfect when I go to the Burnet Rd location. My usual drink is a 1/4 moon latte either hot or cold. The staff is ALWAYS FRIENDLY! For some reason when I go to the Avery Ranch location the flavor is never consistent. read more

I've really enjoyed going to the South 1st location, so I was surprised that the Burnet one didn't live up to my expectations. The place itself is fine but the staff was dismal. They seemed rushed and unengaged, and almost like they didn't want to be there. read more

Not a fan. I have been in a few times and as much as I want to like this coffee bar, I can't find it in my heart. The macchiatos are not very good. The coffee is decent when they have it brewed. I went in tonight to order coffee about 30 minutes before they closed up shop and my husband asked what they had brewed. Without hesitation, the girl working had a sassy tone, and responded, "none at all right now". Awesome. A coffee bar that doesn't have coffee? I was already taken back by their odd hours. They close at 8pm on a Saturday. Womp. Oh ya, and the first time I ever visited, they forgot a portion of our order. Straight espresso drinker here... The espresso is very good, and comes as quickly as the busy situation allows. Arrived a bit before opening on Saturday, and people were congregating at the door, desperate for their morning fix. Me included. Busy but adequately staffed and well organized. The crema holds nicely. A slight smoky note arrives in a taster-style hard slurp off the top. Good top notes and smooth body. I took a bag back home to see how it does with my local water. first of all, i used to be a barista. They shouldn't have a line out the door, and the line is being caused by the chatting baristas behind the bar. stop. talking. and. make. my. drink. i watched a barista literally have a full on 3 minute conversation with a customer, then casually started on my drink. stop taking your time! this is a fast paced environment and i expect fast service. it's disrespectful for them to twiddle their thumbs right in front of me while i'm waiting for the coffee i paid for. read more

I've lived in the area for a while and used to frequent Epoch on Anderson primarily. Back in the day I lived down south near the Summermoon on South 1st so I thought I'd check out this newer location. Overall, great experience. My cold brew is actually strong, my Tacodeli taco is as fresh as it can be, and the employees were very friendly. Though I live closer to Epoch, this place won me over. Stronger cold brew, nicer employees (okay, not everyone at Epoch is rude, but there's a good amount with a serious attitude). Check it out! Great job. read more

Great local haunt if you are in the Avery Ranch area. It's too far out of my way for my everyday coffee, but will go back on a weekend for sure. I chose the Summermoon since I was new to Moon Milk. It was great- not too sweet. Anxious to try my way through the whole menu of wood fired coffee and moon milk options! Also chose the quiche of the day. Love Summermoon! Their signature drinks the Summermoon and Half Summermoon are insanely delicious! For most people I think it's too sweet, but I add at least four sugars and three creamers to my coffee, so I love things super sweet. The setting is calm and inviting, perfect to get a ton of work done or chat with friends. It's never too loud, so I can get a lot of work done without being distracted. Really enjoyed my 1/2 wintermoon on a hot afternoon. Difficult to imagine what the fully sweetness one is like, even as a self-proclaimed sweet tooth. I also tried a sip of the cold brew, which was very zippy. The parking lot of this location was a little hectic even though I stopped by at kind of a late (for coffee) hour-- maybe the late lunch crowd at nearby businesses? 10 yrs ago no one would have thought this area could be so trendy. Come the Domain and boom - hipster coffee heaven. I can see why people like this place. Tried the lighter version of the summer moon coffee. Reminiscent of the coffee drinks at bubble tea shops - still pretty sweet for me but I also dislike anything too sweet. Quality of coffee was high. Vibe on a Wed morning - busy with a decently long line plus folks working at the tables (70% full at 9, 85% full at 10) and people grabbing coffee on the go. Wifi was great - no issues. If you like working in this type of extravert oriented environment this is the place for you. Will come back. read more

I am not going to compare this place to other bigger name franchises whom I also support. It is no longer a smaller chain either though, with so many locations, including outside Austin. That being said I do not like the amount of time it takes to get a coffee here. If I had a day off and wanted to lounge around with no sense of urgency, this would be the place! I visit this place at times because it is close to my work and the times I do it takes so long! I even placed a mobile order and it took 20 minutes to be ready. When I see the baristas there they are kind of just having conversations and joking around with each other. I do NOT like the service charge that is added for mobile order, other places offer this at no extra charge. So if you are wanting to get this before an appointment/ work, etc., be prepared to wait and possibly be late. The coffee is really good and keeps me coming back for more. I do not like how they charge you for whipped cream (other places do not). The baristas are not very friendly. They are not rude or mean, just there. It's almost like it is beneath them to be super friendly or nice. Bottom line, I wanted to like this place more just for something different but nope. Lastly they do not have an extensive menu. I think there is 1 blended coffee drink. Do not make my mistake and get the MoonGlacier expecting caffeine. It was very good but I missed my boost throughout the day. read more

YAY! Summermoon has a north location, conveniently across from the Domain on Burnet Rd.(a wonderful and better alternative to the always congested Starbucks inside the Domain). Nothing beats the lusciousness of the Full Moon latte, but the Half Moon serves me well enough when I'm trying to lighten my caloric intake. Moon milk is magical and for a long time the only way to get it was to make the trek to south first. This location serves coffee just as well as the south Austin version but, at least on opening day, it's way less crowded and you can actually find a table. Dirty fingers touch money then the rim of the cup!! It's gross if you think about it. The cashier absentmindedly fondles the cup while they ring you up trying to small talk and waiting for the machine to process the order. That includes the rim where I will be putting my lips. Most people don't want all the germs you get from money on the lip of their coffee cup. Lots of baristas touching their hair while they prepare too. Seems like a simple training issue.
