I just want to say that however many months later this update is, the coffee is still the best by a very large margin. Nothing even comes close and honestly that's the worst part about it. Having visited this location over a year ago, I decided to give it another chance. My friends and I did not make a return within the past year because we didn't find it to be anything special besides their moon milk. Without the moon milk in their coffee, it was very weak/bland, although Summer Moon Coffee boasts in their oak roasted coffee. I rarely give out one star reviews but the experience had made it into one. I ordered a cold brew coffee at the register using a coupon I received. I came in with 3 additional people and was informed that only one coupon could be utilized during the visit though we had 4 people. We were okay with that and I put the other coupons back into my purse. I noticed the person staffing the register took out two paper cups, one stacked onto the other, so I mentioned again I just wanted a cold brew coffee with coconut milk. The manager had come over and asked if there was a problem. I said no, I just wanted a cold brew with coconut milk. Then the manager realized the girl at the register had the wrong cups out and she switched it to the clear plastic cup instead. I took my cold brew to go and once I got home I tried to place the straw inside the cup but was unsuccessful. Looks like the slit was not able to be pierced thru. If I tried any harder it would make a mess and start leaking on top. Once I was able to drink and taste the coffee, I was once again reminded why I didn't return to this coffee shop. The coffee was extremely watered down and did not have any flavor. A very weak brew it was. For the normal price they post on their menu, this would not be worth it. In addition, I feel that staff need to be well versed in which cups they should be using to prepare beverages...as simple as hot vs cold. Not sure why I would come back again because there are so many other coffee shops on the same street (Highway 6) including Black Rock, Starbucks, Dutch Bros, or Bean Here Coffee...all with better flavor. read more

Very good coffee! I got the full moon which is a sweet and creamy latte. It's so buttery! Haven't had anything like it!

Ordered one of their standard moon milk coffees and a fall special and they were decent, but so sweet. We also grabbed one of their jalapeño and traditional kolaches which were very good. Inside was a bit small, but lots of people doing computer with throughout. A bit busy between the drive thru which they prioritize a bit more and the front counter so a bit slower if you go inside. read more

I've been hearing great things about Summer Moon and couldn't wait to try it! I ventured to Missouri City and as soon as walking in, I felt so welcomed by the staff. Since it was my first time, they let me try their moon milk (decadent and creamy, but not too sweet). I opted for the 1/4 summer moon latte, hot, and the sausage and cheese kolache. The kolache was tasty and I liked that there was a good amount of cheese in it and that the outside wasn't soggy. The coffee was very good, but wasn't strong enough for me; I usually opt for a cappuccino over a latte but wanted to try their signature drink. Next time, I would like to try their cappuccino. I will definitely be back, but need to find "my drink" there. read more

Coffee shops gain a competitive edge to standout by doing things a bit different. For example, Agoras is heavily Greek themed and Siphon Coffee offers well...siphoned coffee. For Summer Moon, they stand out by adding their super secret recipe of "Moon Milk" in their coffee and going the extra mile to "Fire Roast" their coffee beans. The question is, are these unconventional characteristics just a clever marketing scheme or can you really taste the difference? For me, I just know that the coffee tastes good and it makes me want more. Moon Milk has been around for ages - a quick online search can show that, but what I find interesting is that most of the recipes are used to aid in better sleep by incorporating ingredient that naturally induce calming effects (though there are some recipes aimed to provide more energy). This is why when I heard of adding Moon Milk in coffee, I was intrigued. I couldn't help but to further ask myself what is comprised of their 7 secret ingredients. Based on drinking their hot latte with (1/4) Moon Milk, I can only describe it as mixing a bunch of your favorite flavored creamers packets together and getting the ratio just right. Side note: To my surprise, someone on an online forum claims that their Moon Recipe can be recreated at home by simply adding melted soft serve ice cream to your coffee - I would need to investigate this for myself in the future. This technically would mean that I could recreate this by stopping by in a McDonalds and ordering coffee and ice cream... hmm... something I must try. Worst comes to worst is that you get coffee and ice cream (win win!). There is both indoor and outdoor seating, although quite limited. Interesting, most of the interior space is utilized for their kitchen area. I imagine it gets very busy during the weekends and rush hour, especially for their drive thru. They also serve some food too such as croissants and kolaches. Prices reflect what you would normally find at any coffee establishment. The kolaches looked really good and was sold out at the time so I'll have to try one next time to see why. As for their fire roast beans, you can really taste the flames. Just kidding, but I couldn't really tell the difference in what it did to the beans. I read about the pros and cons online of the different roasting methods, but honestly I don't know enough about this field and I don't think I'll become an expert from reading a few internet articles. Maybe my taste isn't sophisticated enough, or perhaps I should order a lighter roasted drink in the future so I could really dial in on the difference. Either way though, they make a darn good latte. Customer service was subpar. When we arrived, there was no one immediately at the cash register to take our order because the two workers were preoccupied with the long drive through line. Regardless the wait was short and transaction was made. Overall, I'll be coming back if I'm around the area (or if I'm in Austin). It's definitely an odd location for them to pick because it's so far away from central Houston, but my theory is that this place is going to boom all over in the future. Summer Moon coming to Houston was much awaited! After previously going to the Austin location, I was really excited to check out the Missouri City location. I went to the grand opening today (1/9/21) bright and early at 6:15am to be one of the first people in line. Call me crazy, but it was WORTH it! For the grand opening, it was drive thru only. But I didn't mind this because it took out the risk of getting exposed to Covid with the high volume of people that came today. Even though I didn't go inside, I did notice that all the employees were wearing masks inside which I appreciated. As far as the drinks go here, there isn't anything I haven't liked yet honestly. The Texas oak roasted coffee beans are done to perfection in relatively small batches to maintain quality control, and you can't come here without trying their moon milk. My personal favorite drinks are their blue moon latte, and mocha moon latte. Not too sweet, and their coffee flavor still came through, but they were nicely accented by lavender and dark chocolate respectively. Overall Summer Moon is a great addition to the greater Houston area. They also have a location in Katy, and I've heard rumors of a new location opening soon in Friendswood. I will definitely be back to try out more of their menu, and possibly even come inside to study or get some busy work done. read more

My top favs are blue moon, global and their matcha- hot and iced are equally great!! The drinks are flavorful without being overly sweet. I can customize my drinks as I like with a touch of sweetness (whisper moon) to very sweet. The staff here are really sweet and knowledgeable as well!! I love summer moon :) but this visit was a bit of a let down. $6.12 for a large iced Christmas cookie latte just cuz it has Christmas flavors? I thought the price was steeeeeep and it didn't even end up tasting like a Christmas sugar cookie. The flavors reminded me more so of brown sugar n /cinnamon. It simply wasn't worth it. HOWEVER I have liked their other drinks in the past and like other reviews have stated, I'm thankful they don't fill their drinks to the brim with ice. I prefer Starb's holiday cookie drink more, that at least tastes like a cookie at a steep coffee price point, rather than just tasting like brown sugar and cinnamon Service was solid and place is usually kept pretty clean. I don't know what they put in their "moon milk" but it's sooo good. Summer moon is always a good study spot and the workers are really nice. I like my coffee on the sweet side so I get the 1/2 winter moon. One of my friends doesn't like it as sweet but the 1/4 winter moon isn't sweet enough but the workers were very understanding and made something in between for her. Ok so I literally go here once a week, it's an addiction. I cannot recommend this summer moon location enough! I've been to the one in Katy as well and felt that the people working at Katy were not as nice tbh. Also at this location there are definitely a lot more pastries available. Everyone who has helped me at this location has always been so sweet. Service can be a little bit slow and it's especially frustrating when there's a long line. I recommend downloading the app or ordering online as that saves SO MUCH time and you can literally just run in and your drink is ready for you.
