Avoid Dr. Shaila Scambati at all costs. I chose this office because of its strong Yelp reviews, but my experience was very different. I came in for one specific cavity with no pain, yet was presented with a $3,080 "package" including deep cleaning, irrigation, a possible root canal, onlay, and even a partial denture. I was not given the option to treat just the cavity I came in for. It felt like unnecessary services were being pushed instead of addressing my immediate concern. I left a Google review 5 stars because I thought it was a good office this is my new update. note: THEY GIVE PEOPLE GIFT CARDS FOR LEAVING REVIEWS SO DONT TRUST ALL THE REVIEWS. I found them on yelp trusted the reviews & I initially came for a root canal but they ended up filling cavities. Atleast 2 of my cavities are in pain. I've never experienced this. Although they did about 8 cavities it doesn't make sense to me why some are in pain and not all? Moral of the story is I can't eat on either side of my mouth now without pain. This was my local dental spot. They took very good care of me, and have amazing staff. I moved to Fontana CA but continue to make the drive to this location because of their customer service. Had my two bottom wisdom teeth removed. Which I thought would have been painful when extracted but on the contrary, the removal was nice and easy and painless. Both sides healed up nice and quick. Giving them 1 star i went in for a regular exam, they use very old X-Ray equipment, nothing is up to date, when I went in the place looked a mess. They told me i needed crowns, fillings and braces and that my insurance only covered a certain amount, the lady explaining the insurance information was pressuring me so they can run my credit to cover the rest of the work i needed, me knowing I was not going to get approved, but she literally pressured me to do it. They put me in a different room that looked a mess all dusty and broken was not clean at all. Horrible experience, the doctor even saw me waiting and not once did he even ask if i was getting help, another assistant passed by and saw me and did not ask me anything literally waited 1 hour just to tell me i needed to pay out of pocket. They did not even offer me to do whatever my insurance covered no cleaning at all that day, the least they can do since i waited almost 2 hours. read more

This place and people are not honest the dentist wast not welcoming nor did she speak I was in pain my whole root canal procedure and every time I was telling her I can feel that she told me I was supposed to fill. I was numbed by a different person and left in a room for over an hour did not provide me with anything else after the dentist actually came in the room I passed out and she kept working after coming to I ask them for a min to raise up and she was bother by me passing out due to the pain. Afterwards she acted as though she did not speak English and she could not communicate with me when I was asking her about my tooth and after care She told me my tooth was loose, I told her again I was in excruciating pain and can she give me something for it she told me no she can not.My tooth is so hollow and loose now I'm in so much pain and I have not even received the crown and I was charged $2015 and the work is not completed and I'm scared to go back . I wanted to speak to someone in charge but everyone was acting like they did not speak English and told me to go to a endodontist. This was 9/9/25 on a Saturday my face was swollen for 4week and I'm still in the same amount of pain when I came in. The equipment was really old outdated and I was told I did not have any other cavities when I actually do have another cavity in my mouth with a broken tooth. I want to be reimbursed for the work that I paid for and did not receive. I don't feel like I should have to pay for work. They told me since I never been I needed to get X-ray and full work up explained my dad had my 7 month baby and I need to hurry back home. One of the ladies offered to cut. My dental insurance expired so I looked into finding places with affordable dental care in the LA area that I could pay out of pocket. It was a terrible idea and I completely regret it because the denists were unskilled and unprofessional. Here's what happened: I came into the office and the dentist told me that I needed a crown for my tooth. They did the moulding and temporary casting so that I was on my way home to come back after the moulds were made in a few days. I live in Culver city, so it took me an hour to go there and an hour to go back home. The next day, I get a call from the dental assistant that the moulding didn't work and that they're sorry I have to come back in again. No problem, these things happen. I go back and get it re-cast. When I come back to get the crown done (this is now my third visit for a routine operation), they transfer me to a new dentist without asking, and he's probably the most unprofessional dentist I've ever seen. The first dentist was a quirky Korean man who sang along to the spanish music playing along in the background. This new dentist, however, was hitting on the dental assistant while I was lying there in the chair waiting for him to put on my crown so that I could GTFO. He starts putting on the crown finally and proceeds to put his ENTIRE body weight into smashing this crown in, and finally decides that I need to get re-cast for a mould because "this one is defective". This is my FOURTH visit. I ask for a different dentist. Finally the last visit, I ask them to waive the cost and they said that since they had me on different dentists and cannot place it on which one who messed up the most, they can't waive the fees but they can give me free teeth whitening, which I declined. I finally got the crown replaced, they did a bad job (surprise!), and I went to another place and had to get it replaced again by another office. TLDR: I went 5 times to this office to get a routine procedure where the dentists were unprofessional and unskilled. Some people have a good time here because they're lucky enough to get a good dentist from the jump. read more

I came as a walk-in on a late Sunday afternoon, yes on a Sun. And after 3 and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The dentist was very helpful and nice. I left with 2 rx and a return appt for implants and bone graphs. They have a special right now and the best price I've seen even cheaper than some dental locations in tj. Anyways I brought my children, and they had a fast and great experience. Even my special needs 4 year old were comfortable and liked the staff. The staff were so easy-going, understanding and kind to him. I have now interacted with 3 of the Dentist there and all 3 were very honest, professional and gentle. I have no complaints and would recommend them for all your dental needs. They are open 7 days a week and take walk ins. read more

It has now been a year since I've been to this dentist. Within the past week, I started feeling a sharp pain come and go around the tooth that got the half crown put on it here at this location. I went to my dentist and let him know and low and behold, it was that exact tooth. I spent $200 MORE for an X-ray and filling because the crown was INCOMPLETE and there was a hole in my tooth where air was getting in, causing the sharp pains. I am so sick of spending money on this fucking crown because Dr. Torbati did such a horrendous job on this one tooth that cost me $700 to begin with. First, it falls out after a couple weeks of being put in, then a year later, I get told the crown was incomplete.. After the first time it fell out, I had to be extra careful flossing around it because I was so afraid it would fall out again. JUST BECAUSE I USED A GROUPON HERE FOR A CLEANING DOES NOT MEAN YOU CAN ALSO DO A SHITTY JOB ON A PROCEDURE I PAID FULL PRICE FOR, DR. SCAMBATI. I can't believe I let her talk me into getting anything else but the cleaning done. I should have said no after I first encountered her and her stuck up demeanor. Upon waiting for my mother to come out, I've noticed the poise and determination to get new patients or existing patient's to continue they're dental work. They offer dental plans, as I've witnessed as they tried to accommodate a woman who did not want to leave any down payment. Word of advice, help them help you. I like the way they answer each phone call even if it becomes rowdy from the other end, these nurses or assistants know how to calm a person with the information they are asking for. Please do not go to this dental office! You phone calls for first time appointments will be nice, but after a few visits you will be in hell! It a horrible place. Dr. Shila and other Dentist there are such a rip off. When I first went there my bill was $9500. cash my medical insurance did not cover anything so they say, so, I decided to get all my work done...my first crown was not even a full crown the dentist ordered a half crown for $1200. I asked about it, Dr. Shila replied, "oh well its much better than a full crown", it turned black inside and she could not polish the black out. Next, I paid $1500. for a partial, not the metal one, I went there with a metal one I did not want to walk out of there the way I went in, she came back with a metal one and again, wanted me to wear it and tried to convince me it's better than the $1500. Valplast so in other words, take a $300. metal for the $1500. Vslplast. The temporary Partial I received when I went there, a tooth broke off after getting it only a few weeks I tried to replace it, but Dr. Shila says, "I would have to leave it for about 3 weeks so they could make another one", so I was going around with a missing tooth for about 3 months, thank God we were wearing masks. And by the way....I selected a color that would match my gums, they brought the pinkest one and put in my mouth and claimed it's ok. My God! The nightmare continued when I dropped all other work to be done, such as changing my fillings from metal to white, and about 4 crowns, my bill went way down, she did not like the idea to have to refund me, but she did...the nightmares continued, I left messages, after messages trying to talk to her to finish the valplast but she started ignoring my calls and gave me see her sister and other Dentist I threatened to report her to The American Dental Association, and finally she called me back weeks later. Some of the receptionist cannot even schedule an appointment properly, I would go there and they would say, "oh, you don't have an appointment today, really? " The lab they use I'm sure it's the cheapest they could find their work takes weeks, months to get done. I could write a freaking book about this office if I wanted, but I just hope this review will help some people. I guess it's my fault for finding them online. Never again will I go there. Bad... I went in for a free cleaning and consultation and I left with no cleaning because they told me I didn't need one "there's no point". Told them about a specific tooth that's been bothering me and gave me only two options extract and or braces. I left with no cleaning and a horrible estimate..... before even seeing someone I'm filling out paper work and I guess I walked in on them all doing ticktock videos ! To promote their business.? Definitely made me feel awkward and uncomfortable another lady waiting as well had to get up from her chair and stand next to me because she felt like she was In their way. Went in after putting off much needed work. Their staff understands the emotions one goes through when dealing with big decisions. There was no pressure and they always reminded me that I was going to make the final decisions. They offered great options and solutions in my case implants old crowns old fillings. I have been coming here for over a year. I had switch from my old dentist to this one because of distance. My family is big. Never in my life I had to pay a deductible. The receptionist seems to have short and long term memory loss because every single time I have to remind her I have 2 insurances. I schedule apts and is like I'm a first time patient there every time, no smiles whatsoever, they seem like robots. Or they tell me they don't feel comfortable doing the work because I guess they are barely learning or newbies. I thought within time they will get better. But, no. So I said bye bye! I don't understand why people are always giving low stars due to the fact that they did not get the diagnosis that they wanted. A dentist always needs to examine a patients oral hygiene.
