I drove THREE HOURS for this appointment on a Sunday because I had a true dental emergency--a large, painful abscess that could not wait until Monday. Your office advertises limited Sunday availability for extractions, which is the ONLY reason I made that drive. I was trying to avoid going to the ER, where care is often rushed and not handled by dental specialists. I was also explicitly told that although you normally require a Saturday consultation, you would accommodate me by doing BOTH the consultation and extraction the same day if it was needed. Because of that, I followed pre-op instructions, including being NPO after midnight to prepare for conscious sedation. After driving three hours in pain and showing up as instructed, I was met with a doctor who appeared completely unprepared and unsure of what was even scheduled. He had no clear answers, no confidence, and honestly seemed unaware he might be performing surgery that day. When I asked a very simple, direct question--if the tooth needed to come out, would he remove it--I was told he "couldn't give an answer." That is beyond unacceptable. This wasn't a complicated question--it's the entire reason I made the trip. The lack of communication, lack of preparation, and overall lack of professionalism was shocking. The doctor's demeanor alone--shaky, uncertain, and unable to provide basic clarity--was enough for me to lose all confidence in allowing him anywhere near my mouth. No patient in severe pain should be told one thing, follow pre-surgical instructions, drive hours for emergency care, and then be met with confusion and incompetence. If this is the level of coordination and confidence your practice offers, people deserve to know before trusting you with something as serious as oral surgery--especially in an emergency situation. read more

I was disappointed with my experience here. The explanation I received for gum sensitivity (on a certain spot) was vague and unhelpful. Instead of providing a clear, professional answer, I was told it was 'due to aging,' which didn't make sense for my situation and felt like a lazy response. If it was really about aging, it would be across board not just in one specific area so for him to blame it on aging is one of the laziest responses you'll get from any Dentist ! Communication and thorough explanations are important to me, and I didn't feel they were provided. I'm looking for a dentist who offers clear, professional guidance. I do not agree with the other reviews that say he is an honest person that's debatable. I will say the places clean and the girls that work in the front are really nice but they're not the ones who are doing the work they're probably more trustworthy but again this doctor is sketchy and I think people who write positive reviews probably don't know any better. read more

Made an appointment and they asked for my SSN and told be they would verify coverage through that since I didn't have my member number from Cigna, said they would call me to verify, they never did. My appointment came and I walked in, the receptionist asked for my name and it didnt t seem that my appointment was on file. The girl asked me if I had Ppo or HMO and I said HMO but I wasn't really sure, she didn't care to check what coverage I had and took my word for it. She said I would have to pay out of pocket since HMO is out of network, I went online and turns out I have PPO, so I could have been covered, I left there disappointed since it was a waste of my time. The place inside looks nice despite of what it looks on the outside. I would have appreciated the receptionist 2nd checking my coverage since I provided my SSN over the phone to make sure that I was covered. Found this dentist on yelp. Scheduled an appointment. When I walked in I was greeted and taken for X-rays quickly. Doctor went over X-ray with me and recommend a deep clean. I took my dad to Hope Dental because of a dental emergency and even though appointments were fully booked for the week, Dr. Yoo went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and saw my dad as soon as possible given the urgent situation at hand. Dr. Yoo was kind, professional, clear and thorough in his explanations, and most importantly, a HUGE patient advocate. He listened to what our concerns were and answered all of our questions. Also, Dr. Yoo identified and recommended tackling the main problem instead of just treating the symptoms (many dentists will only treat the symptoms to benefit the patient in the short term even though it may cause more harm in the long term, not to mention charge the patient a lot of money for all the extra, unnecessary procedures!!). I come twice a year for my cleanings and check ups, and I have never had any issues. I referred my friend here for his braces, and now my boyfriend has switched offices and is a new Hope patient! They were able to squeeze him in today on late notice and do his cleaning. Not only that but Dr.Yoo is so gracious with his profession. He always makes sure all my questions are answered and seems very honest when answering them and addressing my concerns. Also wanted to add his team is full of amazing people! I'm superrr scared of the dentist. That was before I found this place, This is my second time here, and this time it was my wisdom tooth. The staff is super nice, and I don't know if it's the aesthetic or just how welcoming everyone is but I don't get as much anxiety. So I called to make an appt and they gave me one that worked with my schedule. I had been having horrible pain and my gum was swollen because of my wisdom tooth. So when I get to my appt they took new X-rays, Dr.Yoo saw me, gave me a plan to deal with this tooth, prescribed pain medicine and antibiotics and I was on my way. Today was my appt to get it removed. I walked in to the friendly staff as usual sat down and not even 3 min later they called me in. Sat me right in the room and Dr. Yoo explained the process and got right to work. He started numbing the area and was frequently checking to see if I had any pain. 40 min later, he turns off the light and said I'm all done, I said nuh-uh!!! I could not believe it!!! I did not feel a thing, I had to have him show me the tooth Bc I was shocked at how quick and painless it was. About 25/30 of those minutes was just numbing the area and waiting for it to kick in. I could not freaking believe it! For someone who is terrified of the dentist they made this experience so easy! I've tried several other Dental Offices in the South Gate area and one of the major concerns that stopped us from returning was the fact that they did not want to allow us to be in the room with our young kids which was a no go for us. Hope Dental was great from the beginning! Dr. Yoo and the staff were really nice and upfront. They were honest and direct about what we needed and did not try to upsell us on services we did not need. They also allowed us to sit with our kids in the room while they did they're thing which was a big plus for us!
